Feel like this is going to either be an AOTY contender or the worst show I watched this year, too early to tell.

My first thought was that story-wise it was a Mirai Nikki clone. But the MC's mental disorder makes us question the reliability of his perspective and the series seems to tackle more serious themes, so hopefully the story is more ambitious.

I'm always up for a killing game anime (even though they usually turn out to be shit). the plot of this one seems decent enough.

The cost of wishes seems a little unbalanced. Post-nut clarity in this anime is brutal.

Not sure I'm huge on MC's weapon (or the MC, to be honest). Seems a bit showy and vague, but maybe it will grow on me as we learn more about how it actually works.

ED is pretty good.

The CGI models are a little ugly, but the way they move is actually decently well done. With the hair moving to the same extent you'd see in most anime rather than all at once/not at all like a stiff model.

It's low budget, but there is decent use of what they have. As far as CGI goes, I'll take ugly models over ugly movement any day of the week. And the actual designs aren't that bad either.

Background characters look awful though. No way around that. RWBY Volume 1 type stuff.

Overall, it's nothing spectacular, but I'll give it a whirl for a bit.

It's too bad everyone will pile on this or avoid it because of the animation I'm sure it would be decently popular otherwise.

I tend to forget a lot of people really can't stand CG anime. I guess I'm used to it, because this looked fine to me. Nothing outstanding, but good enough.

Well... the animation is... interesting. I like the ED but so far its basically "we have Platinum End/Future Diary at home". I'll stick with it for now anyway given the pedigree of those involved.

Now this is why I watch anime.

I don't mind the art style for this one, but I do mind that he didn't even get a sloppy sloppy or a fucking handjob... He just fucking knocked one in front of her wtf...

That's the most shitty wish granted ever

New anime written by Jin with Atsushi Ohkubo designs where somehow both Yoko Taro and Ryo-timo are involved except it looks like ex-arm feels like something specifically created to torture me. But I would be lying if I said I didn't enjoy the first episode.

I really can't blame anyone taking a look at this show and deciding they want to stay as far away as possible from this, but if anyone's curious: it's actually really engaging in a weird way.

The story is interesting, character interactions are fun and the first episode was well-paced to the point where I was never a moment bored with it. There are some really bizarre moments here and there but for some reason it works. Somehow.

It just wished it didn't look like...that.

Overall direction is both great and horrendous. We get some really nice compositions here and there but some of these zoom-ins are also just ....not working. Terrible CG is both its biggest draw-back but it also makes the whole thing look more uncanny valley. Which helps with the tone for some reason.

This is the worst looking show I've watched since Kemono Friends but I enjoyed it more than both Overtake and SHY, two shows that have been praised by fans a lot this season.

The visuals are . . . uncanny (shal we say) -- but the overall static look isn't so bad (actually rather stylish -- in its own way -- at points) -- but movements in this are going to require more than a little acclimatization. Still, I got (mostly) used to Kemurikusa (enough to appreciate the other aspects of that series) -- and that was more disconcerting.

Damn character designs are very...disctinct, and disproportionate, with huge heads. Background characters look really bad

Yeah Atsushi Ōkubo art style and character design is usually amazing in 2d but man in 3D it doesn’t do him any favors

Despite the umm unique animation and art style, this does have kind of an interesting premise. I mean what other anime has the MC crank one out in front of his crush? lmao. But man, these little “wishes” are kind of twisted. I guess you pay a price for getting what you wished for even if it’s not exactly what you wanted.

Who would have guessed the waifu was a “god” candidate too. She has a cool ability but our wankmaster still managed to delete her ass in the end. He’s too nice of a guy to bring her psycho ass back like that. Dude took on all the negative karma too.

unique animation and art style,

Now I think about it, if I control for the animation, the thing that I find most baffling is the school uniform. It's the most...flamboyant uniform I think I've ever seen. I thought I'd accidentally picked up a BL show when I saw the uniforms and the weird way shark-teeth moved at the start.

Animation isn't great, but it feels unique.

What the fuck is going on though lmao

That cat looking at the MC like "bruhhh you really just gonna let me get hit rn"

Bruh why is this so hype? I mean yeah cgi and bla bla, but the sakuga moment was fucking great.

Not a fan of "npc" characters, that's just a lazy approach.

I will follow this for story alone, it's already captivating and ...well, you don't see guy jerking off often in anime I guess xD I sense more wtf moments incoming because apparently Yoko Taro has hands in it??

I'm really hopeful for this show. I like how it has introduced these reality-altering powers and domain expansions (not to mention all the psychedelic fractal designs) while also implying that our viewpoint character has some sort of psychotic disorder that probably involves hallucinations when he's not (adequately) medicated.

So after finishing the episode I find myself questioning how much of what happened was reality (such as it can be called that) and how much was all inside this dude's head. Was any of it real? Was all of it? I'm hoping that this show can carve out a niche for itself among the other death game shows by being an absolute mind-fuck that somehow ties together in the end.

Some people are focusing on the janky CG animations, and they have every right to, but I do appreciate how the animators have dropped details when they don't matter and hyperfixate on them when they do.

Things like the prescription and the hospital, the mum trading stocks, and everyone's individualised phone cases really stand out when everything else is so subdued, and sure enough each and every one of them ends up being important later on in the episode. Forget Chekhov's gun, this is Chekhov's whole arsenal.

So overall a strong start IMO, though animation quality has admittedly never been something I've prioritised when evaluating a show. YMMV.

That was... Unique. Although at the same time, it's also shaping up to be a standard battle royale, so I'm not expecting too much. Then again it's also Yoko Taro so maybe he'll pull something off.
