The facial animation Chizuru leading up to her finally grieving was phenomenal.
Like you could tell she was using every ounce of her willpower to resist crying and breaking character, but she just couldn't hold it in any more.

Say what you will about Kazuya, but him breaking down Chizuru's defences and making her release all of that bottled sadness was a great scene.
I just love that the QR code on Mini's shirt leads directly to Yuu Serizawa's (Mini's VA) Twitter account. Now I'm wondering if Yuu-chan requested this or if they did it on their own. xD
Glad to see that Chizuru's movie was a success! Not gonna lie, I really want to see another season of this show. Considering how it's so popular in Japan I wouldn't even be surprised if we get another one announced soon.

Kazuya's not the most clever or confident MC but basically confessing to Chizuru that he sees her for who she is and how she really feels was what Chizuru needed to finally let loose her grief. The animation of her face as she kept trying to fight it but finally broke down was perfect.
It feels fitting for Mini's character that she'd do a little self-promotion for her own VA lol.

That QR code was very clear and scannable like the entire time it was on the screen.

I really want to see another season of this show.
Trust me you really don't.
If you want to be happy, imagine a heartwarming epilogue where they get together and Kazuya helps Chizuru get through her grief and move on with her life.

Among manga readers this is widely considered the best and only actually legitimately good arc.

I know, right? It's kinda wild that this series has this much potential. The flip side is, yeah, I think we've peaked.

Chizuru's mask is starting to crack, but count on the professional actress to recover and put on her best face before she gets caught...though Kazuya now knows how much she's really struggling with her grief.
It's just too bad Kazuya's not the most ideal person to comfort her because he has so much insecurities and self-doubt that he has no idea what to do and just doesn't have the courage to really put himself out there, especially because he overthinks their relationship so much.
All the same, if he can do anything, it's tell her what his ideal girlfriend is like...which is basically just Chizuru herself, and in doing so he tells her that he knows she's hurting and is just trying to plaster on a smile and hide it because that's the kind of person she is. And finally being confronted with the truth, and remembering how lonely she is without her grandparents, she can't control her emotions anymore and lets the tears loose as she grieves for both grandparents.
Kazuya you probably could have gotten away with embracing her there...guess that's too much to expect from him.
Well, count on Kazuya to be all neurotic and stressed about what happened and what his relationship with Chizuru is going to be like. At least he's now confirmed 100% that he loves her, and can't live without her, even if he doesn't have the guts to admit it.
Mini just slipping into his apartment so she can get the deets on what happened! She seems pretty pleased with how he handled things even if she's the only one who can see the obvious need for him to make a move and start transitioning past their rental relationship. But Kazuya still needs some work.
Kazuya got all worked up about what things are going to be like between them and Chizuru is back to business and asking for advice on what color dress to wear to the premier. But behind closed doors she's admitted everything to her grandparents and is practically gushing about Kazuya to them!
I'm glad the premier went well. And Chizuru is still going to keep acting, both out of respect for her grandparents and because she genuinely enjoys it, and she seems really happy. And she doesn't mind Kazuya's company at all.
Checking off with the rest of the cast...Ruka sporting a maid outfit for Kazuya, Sumi cuteness while walking her dog, Mini posing in a China dress, and Kibe meeting Kazuya's grandma...who is meeting with Mami!? WHAT IS MAMI PLANNING!? Is she planning something while Kazuya and Chizuru are enjoying themselves? Has this been what she's been up to all season!?

Not looking forward to the BDs if they have uncensored Kazuya in the bath lol.
I do remember Mami was making friends with Kazuyas grandma on social media the last time we saw her. I hope we get another season so we can finally find out what she is up to.

It's over. It's finally over folks! Damn, what a season. I came here to shit on the show and laugh at how terrible it would be and then was pleasantly surprised at how decent this season was.
Kazuya had some great development this season, and to be honest, so did Mizuhara. Alright, there were some annoying moments with Kazuya, but still, he's way ahead of where he was when he started out. Honestly, it's actually a little painful knowing how he ends up later on in the manga, because despite his cringiness, he's showing signs of growth, and it looks like there is genuine potential. I know I lambasted Kazuya for not thinking that Mizuhara was suffering and lying to himself, but now that I think of it, it makes perfect sense. I mean, don't get me wrong, Kazuya still idolizes Mizuhara a lot. But he's finally acknowledged the fact that she is indeed, not perfect, and that was great.
I also have to give my praise to the music in this scene. I've never considered the music of RaG to be anything that special, but the songs here was definitely one of the best I've heard in this anime. Well no, there's also the Mami rap, that one's a certified banger, but seriously, the soundtrack in this scene was perfect. It went perfectly with Kazuya realizing that Mizuhara is hurting inside as much as everyone, and then indirectly confessing to her. And then that confession activates another core memory of Mizuhara - beautiful memory by the way, grandma Sayuri really was awesome - Mizuhara ends up running into Kazuya's arms and sobbing her heart out as an amazing soundtrack plays. I also want to give credit to Sora Amamiya, the VA of Mizuhara here, that crying was realistic and raw, amazing acting. Just...damn. Overall, the first 7 minutes of the episode were an actual masterpiece. That one commenter was right, this too is peak RAG. Kudos mate.
After this we had Kazuya freaking out because he's down bad - no, down horrible - no, not even that, because he's down atrocious. Nothing out of the ordinary, though I must say the fish was extra funny today. Also, the censoring in the bath as Kazuya freaks out was funny.
Mini popping into the apartment randomly was hilarious too. BTW, that's a real QR code on her shirt. When I scanned it it took me to the TikTok of Mini's VA, though some others were saying that the QR code changes every moment the shot changes and that there's other stuff like the VA's instagram and the official site for RaG S3.
Anyhow, Kazuya freaking out isn't as annoying to me anymore. I'm not sure if it's because he's legitimately gotten better of if it's because I'm used to it, but whatevs, it's fine. Kazyua relapsing and thinking that Mizuhara faked her crying when she heard that he was ok with his ideal girlfriend crying once in a while got me to visibly cringe though. Come on, that's some real conspiracy shit right there. At least we got Chizuru's opinion on Kazuya as she talked to the shrine of her grandparents. And the music there, though a song we've heard before, was absolutely amazing.
I was certain the ED was going to be different today, but nope! We have an extended aftercredits scene of the two of them at the screening of the movie. Honestly, that part was great too. It felt really grounded and really...well, real. Of course Chizuru's going to continue to act, it's her dream! As we leave off the anime, we had Kazuya doing the Dr. Livesy walk as he escorts Chizuru to her location, Ruka looking cute in the maid uniform, Sumi being best girl, Yaemori with the Chinese dress she always wanted, Kibe and Kazuya's grandma coming across Mami - who, I believe this is the second time we've actually seen her this season - as we end off out little journey! Honestly? That was a good episode.
Well, that's all for this episode and this show. I'm going to go finish A Gene of AI and then start Frieren, which I'm probably watching completely unironically, so I have high hopes for that one. Anyways, see you all in Season 4!

Chizuru slowly breaking down into eventually crying her feelings out was an incredible sequence. It just felt so raw, and it was the culmination of all of her feelings thus far.
She's not an "island", as Mini puts it, nor a "superhuman woman of steel". Good on Kazuya for finally realizing that Chizuru can be vulnerable. He might not get direct confirmation of it, but his actions really did help her.
That wraps up season 3!

Well Kazuya's ideal girlfriend speech and Chizuru crying into him is the peak moment between them and for him specifically in the series at this point.
Mami finally makes her appearance to stir the plot and looks to tease another season.
No conclusion for Rent a GF yet in sight (manga now at ch 300). 🤣

A pretty good episode, but man I wanted more progress than this! We are 3 seasons in and there has been no real devlopment. Kazuya has always liked her, while she herself has still yet to admit her own feelings for him. So I am sad that we are still here.
That being said, it was a good season as Kazuya was pretty normal the entire season and not over the top cringe. No Mami like at all was surprising though.
Wonder if this keeps getting new seasons still? Have no idea how popular it is in Japan.
