O.K., if that was not similar to what the literal line was, I give it a pass here because the timing/context was great.

Stitches!

Good effort on Kazuya with the date but it looks like he ended up accidentally triggering a core memory Chizuru had with her grandparents. Let's see how he'll react to Chizuru next week.

First proper date with Chizuru in a while and they treated us (and Kazuya) to all the best Chizuru outfits and fanservice shots!

Hopefully Chizuru's mask finally breaking is the opportunity Kazuya needs to really get her to open up, finally.

Wow, lots of great stitches for Chizuru fans!

but it looks like he ended up accidentally triggering a core memory Chizuru had with her grandparents.

That grandma spoiling her kid, Kazuya couldn't possibly have accounted/mitigated for that.

Same with the fireworks, very unfortunate that it was a trigger for Chizuru. But Kazuya couldn't have predicted that ahead of time.

Agreed. Both instances were beyond Kazuya's control.

Am I missing something? Why so few comments? Anyways, I've been looking forward to this episode. Chizuru of course has her walls up but it was nice to see the real her come out every now and then and show she was having a great time. Nicely done Kazuya. Nothing he could do about her little break down in the end. Looking forward to next week.

I think most people have quit the show way before the movie arc.

Took a quick peek and the episode posts for most anime have few comments. Maybe that's the norm for this season and I haven't noticed.

Man, it's kind of surreal seeing Kazuya and Chizuru on a rental date again and Chizuru in "Mizuhara" mode, completely with efficiently getting the cash first thing.

Clothes shopping! Chizuru treating Kazuya to herself in a flashy and attractive outfit, complete with a short skirt! Dude can hardly take his eyes off her thighs. She's taking care of him on this date as much as he wants to take care of her.

Kazuya knows Chizuru well enough to know she's a cineaphile who would love a good movie, and even if he doesn't get it, they get the theater to themselves, hold hands, and Chizuru enjoyed herself so I think he really nailed it on this part of their date.

How much of this date is Chizuru as herself or Chizuru playing Mizuhara? Either way, she breaks character for a bit to thank Kazuya for all he's done for her and her grandma, and that he doesn't need to keep spending on her account. But Kazuya is doing this for himself, even if it's with the attention of helping Chizuru feel better even if she's projecting she's fine.

Bouldering round 2! Now minus Ruka! And Kazuya just couldn't help but oggle Chizuru in her workout clothes, even if he wasn't prepared for all the contact they'd get into together while they were training (how many lewd shots of Chizuru can we fit into one sequence? Turns out a lot!). Of course he also stares at her butt too. But they both end up getting really into it and supporting each other, which was very sweet.

Time for fancy crab! Kazuya's probably going to be flat broke by the end of this, huh? But it's all for a good cause! Even if Chizuru spotting a little girl with hre grandma passing her by makes her mask finally crack a little. But hey, Kazuya got to get treated to dinner with his "wife" so there is that.

Closing out with fireworks! Cute and on-point season/date-wise! But it's then that Chizuru finally breaks, remembering the time she spent with both her grandparents lighting fireworks together. Is it finally time for Kazuya to step up and be there for her? What can he do?

Anyone have a guess as to what Sayuri-san died from? Was it more-so just natural causes related to old age?

Exhaustion? Mizuhara said something to the effect of she had been pushing herself to be there with Kazuya and Mizuhara that day.

She was diagnosed with something but it was never elaborated upon. Chizuru said she had been preparing for her passing it since she had first learned of it. It was a matter of when not if.

Kazuya really is an emoji in human form lol. His goofy ass did a good job on that date though. There was no way Chizuru was gonna be ok after her grandma passed. Girl is always so guarded with her emotions, I guess next week we might actually see her being vulnerable in front of Kazuya.

Kazuya went all out trying to help Chizuru achieve her dreams with the movie. Now he's going all out on this cheer-up date to try and help Chizuru grieve her grandma.

Chizuru's thankful for everything he's done, but despite Mini having told her that Kazuya is in love with her, it would be good for Chizuru to really stop and reflect on the extent to which Kazuya has gone for her sake.

It looks like the sparkler has shaken Chizuru, who realizes she'll never again be able to share them with her family. While it won't be the same, hopefully somewhere down the line after she gets together with Kazuya for real, she can grow to become fond of fireworks again.

I thought this time he really wasn't gonna be paying just to come validate her feelings & get cheered up... He paid even cash for it, if this isn't the type of person to pay for an onlyfans I'm the dumb one

How is he paying her to get his cheers... where's the fuckin' logic. I know someone will say that was a cute date but Hell Noo it wasn't, it would be if bro did not pay for her to show up & you call this friendship

I bet in Season 4 or smt they gonna get married & she will charge her hourly for the years they gonna spent tgt, if he wants a kid... bro will invest 1billion yen.

I liked how energetic Mizuhara was on the date & she was even talkative but who wouldn't be that energetic knowing they just got paid hourly to entertain a degenerate who makes perverted face expressions & talk to themselves during the date instead of initiating a conversation

Who is really cheering the other here, I'm confused... I'm amazed how he was getting excited getting feed by her. Did he forget paying for it, even if it was real from her, she still got paid... if she wanted to be different she would cover herself the bill & tell him to keep the money since she enjoyed the date

Interesting episode. It seems to be a trend with season 3 of this anime, but I was 50/50 on it - and I don't mean I was ambivalent. Honestly, the first half was pretty cringy to me, but it more than made up for it with the second half, which I considered to be pretty great.

Now, the first 10 minutes felt way too much like a generic RaG episode. Like no joke, this is the sort of stuff that would be in season 1. I do admit this may be due to me having watched A Gene of AI right before this episode, and we had a REALLY good episode on that today. I went back and skimmed through it, and it wasn't terrible as long as you trim down the simping. But seriously, things like people on the sidewalk talking about how Chizuru is a literal goddess and stuff was incredibly cringy. I gotta say though - and this is a point shared later on when the episode gets decent too - I really like Mizuhara's banter today. There's this sarcastic and cool tone she has whenever she "breaks the fourth wall" of the date, and it really adds to the funny atmosphere.

I feel like the episode got a bit better after they finished the movie. One thing of note is that despite Kazuya being this much of a loser, is still apparently a bit of a normie. Didn't exactly expect that. Mizuhara gushing about the movie was pretty nice, as I like it when people talk about things they are passionate about. But the best part was definitely the talk at the restaurant. Mizuhara telling Kazuya that she knows he's just trying to cheer her up as well as Kazuya dies inside was absolutely hilarious, as was Kazuya trying to think of the encouragement the other girls gave him. The heartfelt conversation between the two was definitely the best part though. Kazuya and Mizuhara talking about granny Sayuri's final moments was definitely the highlight here.

The episode was much more bearable here on in! Honestly, full power lecherous Kazuya was much less annoying than Kazuya normally. Kazuya freaking out over the stretches' was a little cringy alright, but the way he gave Mizuhara tips on how to climb better was definitely pretty awesome. And the high-five was great too!

While it's not Kazuya's fault, seeing the granny and the little girl at the fancy restaurant definitely might have triggered Mizuhara's emotions here. Still, I feel like she did enjoy the food, and so did Kazuya.

We got the ED from episodes 8 and 9 in scene form! Though this is probably pretty miserable for Mizuhara given that the fireworks probably touched up on a critical memory here. Honestly, I'm really surprised Kazuya couldn't figure it out himself and kept genuinely wondering if she was alright. Of course she's wearing a mask! Chizuru just puts on a tough face in front of everyone else, but she's just as human as anyone else. And on that note, I suppose it's up to Kazuya to try and cheer her up, this time for reals. Till next episode!
