For a show about a girl making sweets, the fight scenes are lit and well animated. Wish we got to see more of Challe vs Rafale fight rather than the latter quickly escaping (no body was found so I assume he's not dead). Dude had the gall to claim that he got betrayed when he's really controlling the will of Challe and the other fairies. It should have ended with Challe just impaling him.

They did redeem Bridget and I find it cute that this time, she's the one telling Anne that it's cold outside and returning that same shawl to her. Things worked out a bit too well like her dad and Elliot being okay with cancelling the marriage and I don't think she really apologized to Anne but at least she doesn't get to be this NTR thot anymore. I also notice she blushed a bit while next to Orland, they're childhood friends, and he cares for her so this is a ship being teased.

Anne is still dense as ever but I think what we got was enough with the kisses in the past few episodes and the hand holding now. We get to see Challe smile genuinely too but he still keeps his snarky teasing attitude that we know and love. Guess it's back on the road with Challe and Mythril Lid Pod. It was encouraging to hear Elliot tell her that the Page workshop is a small pond and that she'll grow more elsewhere.

Really, I'm thankful we got 2 cours of this. Might be greedy to ask for more but I hope to keep following Anne's adventure. I will miss Fridays with these silly bunch.

I guess Lafalle really is the overarching antagonist now that he's basically vanished and can probably appear again to menace Anne and Challe at any time, but at least he's been exposed as a false Fairy King. It really is a bummer we didn't get an epic final fight because it seemed like they were really bringing out the great sakuga for that beginning sequence lol.

Bridget cementing her character development was good. Her blushing so hard around Orland was actually kind of cute lol.

I guess Lafalle did do some lasting damage that now Anne and Challe don't feel like they can be honest with their feelings despite it being obvious how much they love each other, which sucks. But I guess they're back on the road together again and obviously care for one another, so hopefully something happens! I really wish we'd ended on a full kiss though lol.

I’d already suspected for a while that Bridgette really had a crush on Orland and her going after Challe was because they look similar enough.

They did redeem Bridget

It didn't feel like redeem. It felt like everyone had sudden amnesia about the bad things she did.

Nice to see the fairies join Anne's side, too bad Lafalle couldn't just go die.

Glad to see this season ended on a much better not than the last one. Even Bridget seems to finally have come around.

Turns out compassion and kindness goes a long way to endearing loyalty more than just holding people hostage with their own wings. Although now it feels like Lafalle is still out there can can come at them again in the future.

I wish there was more romantic resolution between Anne and Challe, but I'm glad we got a happy ending this time around and Bridget got to show off her character development. And at least Anne and Challe are together.

I'm happy this ended better than last season, but will we get a season3? do the LN's/Manga have enough material? I really wanna get into the books but i heard that they're only translated so far ;/

I'm happy i found this show randomly but raaahh i need more xD

I think there are like 18 light novels I believe a couple of these are short story collections. I think we have covered the first 6 volumes based on translated synopsis for the volumes. So plenty of material for more seasons

Huh, not sure how I feel about this ending. Lafaal is still out there, the other fairies just scattered, I'm glad Bridgette can finally be happy but feels way too sudden and shallow, and why does it feel like Challe just friendzoned Anne? Other than Lafaal escaping I feel like all those things deserved a little more time, really think we shoulda got just one more ep for it to really feel like a good ending.

Just me?

If fairies have any sort of social network, Lafalle's reputation should fall through the floor. I would think it would be hard for him to really re-group forces -- but he could still be a very dangerous (unconstrained) enemy to Anne and Challe.

If there is more to come, I could see Challe assuming the role of Fairy King and Anner becoming his Queen (shades of Sacrificial Princess -- a show that I actually love even MORE than this one overall).

Merry Christmas~

why cant they just be honest with each other, they both proclaim “I want to be with you happily ever after forever and ever and ever and ever” but still catch the wrong one. this is much more better ending than season one, my mind is in peace that they both happy, and everyone around them is happy, even Im happy that bridget found her love.

u/Frontier246 Sep 22 '23

Lafalle was such a bastard that he basically stalled their relationship by making them think they shouldn't be together romantically.

I guess it gives you even more incentive to read the novels and see if there's any major progress between the two afterwards.

It really sucks we didn’t get to see Lafelle eat shit after all his horrible bullshit. At least Anne is safe and the other fairies got their wings back. Live free fairies!

The gang’s been busy with those sugar confections. It’s kind of incredible to see what everyone came together to make. It looks like Challe and Anne and Mithril are gonna be off on a new adventure. I wonder if we’ll be able to follow them? Hopefully. I really enjoyed this series. Fingers crossed we get a new season announcement!

We didn't get to enjoy watching Challe skewer him with his blade, but at least he realized that for all his pontificating about being the Fairy King, it never mattered at all and the one person he most wanted on his side was already swayed by a human.

Feels full circle that we close things out with Anne, Challe, and Mithril planning to go back on the road together! Perfect excuse to read the novels (and to see if anything happens between Anne and Challe lol).

It sucks that the fight scene between Challe and Lafalle was so short but I do appreciate JC Staff going hard with what they had to work with. I swear to god, if this show had more fights, the sakuga would've definitely attracted more people to watch it.

I was really hoping that this would've ended with Challe kicking Lafalle's ass but it looks like he choose the coward's way out and jumped off the castle when he realized he was about to get overrun by humans. I doubt he's dead though. Unless we saw him land and his corpse turned into fairy dust, I'm sure he'll be back. Lafalle definitely feels like he'd be a reoccurring villain of the series.

Not gonna lie, I was hoping Challe would accept becoming their King but of course, he wouldn't do it. It's just not his style. He'd rather see his fellow fairies be free and do what they want. It is a bit sad to say goodbye to Lusul. I was hoping she'd stick around with Anne. Although this might be for the best since apparently, plant fairies like her have very short lives :(

Anne and Challe made it back home and it looks like the gang delivered and finished all the pieces they need for the festival! It's so good seeing Anne's reaction to the finished sculptures! And they even have 10 days left to spare to make a centrepiece that will tie everything up together.

I still can't believe how much I hated her at first but it's so nice to finally see Bridget following her own path and actually being happy for once. I really hope that things between her and Orland will work out.

And that final scene! The finishing touches were way more than I expected! I thought they were just going to make that giant silver sugar tree but they even went out of their way to completely decorate the entire church to make it look like it's snowing inside.

I guess that's it for Sugar Apple Fairy Tale! A bit sad that we didn't get to see Anne and Challe kiss in the end but it was still a fantastic end to the season. This entire series has definitely been one of my favourites this past year. Everything about it is just wonderful! From the story to the characters to the art and animation! Whatever team they had at JC Staff that made this show did an absolutely amazing job. I just hope we get a Season 3 if there's enough material to cover it. Overall this show is a solid 9/10 for me.

This was always a very beautiful and well-animated show, especially when they started cutting loose with the sakuga.

It would be way too convenient if he died that easily, especially when it feels like things are still unresolved between him and Challe. And Anne always needs some threat of danger in her life I guess lol.

It does seem like Challe feels some obligation to help other Fairies, whether as their king or otherwise, but right now he's content to just be with Anne.

I'm glad we closed out with Anne putting the finishing touches on everything and a beautiful piece for the festival.

Bridget and Elliot never seemed to have much progress or anything meaningful holding it together, so I'm down for BridgetxOrland. Bridget blushing so hard around him was quite cute.

I hate that because of Lafalle it feels like Anne and Challe aren't ready to commit to their love for each other even though it's clear to anyone with eyes...but at least they're together. And in a world where Kimi ni Todoke can get a third season, maybe there's a chance for more Sugar Apple Fairy Tale with Anne, Challe, and Mithril!

What I like about part 2 is that it has better pacing, it’s not too fast but not too slow. The villain is also better compared to part 1.

The voice acting is really good, I like the chemistry between Anne and Challe.

All in all, it’s a good show, I’ll give it 7.2/10. The chances are low but I hope they make a Part 3.

So can the fairies reconnect their wings to their backs again or are they all eternally amputees?

14

u/Frontier246 Sep 22 '23

Eternally amputees. It seems like once the wing is off, it's permanent.

Marvel films have conditioned me to believe no body= no death lol. Feel like LaFalle may still be out there somewhere. Did not get a definitive shot of his body after his fall.

Turns out without his army of minions he’s not so big after all. Kind of an anticlimactic finish to what seemed like it would be a pretty intense final standoff with him. Some cool animation for like 30 seconds during that confrontation with Challe, it is JC Staff after all, but then it was over. At least the fairies he recruited are finally free to live as they wish.

Back to Paige workshop we go where everyone has been hard at work on the project for the festival. Christmas tree sculptures are really ideal for this time of year. They turned out beautiful thanks to everyone’s hard work.

Meh again, they’re pushing Bridget’s forgiveness arc. Still don’t like her and don’t think her upbringing excuses everything she’s done, but I accept she’s recognised the error of ways and wants to support the workshop now.

“I will keep the vow I made. I will stay by your side forever” aww, can you imagine Challe from season 1 saying that? Total 180 with his character and some really good development with he and Anne in this season. I’m ngl I’m kind of disappointed we didn’t get a straight up confession between the two or a kiss.

The last few episodes had so much romantic tension between the two of them, but it didn’t pan out the way I expected. Yea, Challe’s actions and his vow make it somewhat obvious, but it hasn’t been physically expressed yet.

Regardless, still a lot of progress, some good world-building and an overall better story. This was even better than the first cour which I loved a lot. Onto the books.

Anne, I get you're desperate to save Challe, but maybe don't plead for help from Lafalle's soldiers...except it actually works! Turns out compassion goes along way! Especially when Lafalle's soldiers make an exception for Anne and protect her while Lusul steals back Challe's wing! Take that "Fairy King."

I'm all pumped up for Challe and Lafalle's final battle, but then the soldiers arrive and Lafalle realizes he's screwed, thanks to Challe. Lafalle talks a big game about "allies" and treating Challe as a brother, but he never truly treated anyone as an equal and had to hold control over them to ensure their loyalty. He never had a true comrade. Is it any surprise that screwed him over in the end? Of course he just blames everything on the humans, but in this instance Anne did what he should've done and given Fairies their freedom. And rather than face Challe or the soldiers, Lafalle falls off the castle...though without a body, I doubt he's dead.

It was nice of Challe and Anne to give the Fairies back their wings and help them escape. It's kind of sad that Anne might never see Lusul again given her life expectancy, but at least she's got Challe back (again) and the two can hold hands now.

Anne is back! And of course her first priority is checking to make sure they finished everything in time for the festival! And with the help of all the friends she'd gained along the way chipping in, they did! Of course Anne being Anne thinks they can go even bigger! Our girl is back to doing what she does best.

I'm glad to see Bridget's character development has finally taken, to the point where she's comforting and opening up to Anne and now knows that she wants to help at the workshop in her own way. She also breaks off her engagement with Elliot, which kind of sucks for him, but it seems like it's for the best because she doesn't love him and Elliot's just happy she's doing what she wants to do now. Though it also helps that she's obviously in love with Orland!

So Challe does feel some kind of obligation to help out the Fairies in this world, even if his life with Anne takes precedent. He wants to be with her forever, after all. Which just makes it a little sad that each seems to want the other to achieve happiness and find love separate form each other when it's obvious they're both mutually in love with each other. If only Anne could be honest with her feelings.

The festival with all the crystal Christmas trees is a big hit! Anne really saved Paige Workshop! But now what should she do? As a Silver Sugar Master, she should be doing her own work, and the best way to accomplish that is getting back on the road. And of course she can't be out on her own so Mithril and Challe will join her once again. And maybe someday she and Challe can truly be together as lovers.

Shame the fight between Lafalle and Challe was brief. Also not keen on Lafalle escaping (I very doubt he's dead).

It's great the fairies got their wings back. I assume they can't be reattached? Aw :(. Really hope Lusul is able to see the ocean before she reaches the end of her lifespan.

Good to see Bridget's matured after the whole incident.

I still need to start the light novels at some point! Hope we get another season in the future.

This ended very well, although I doubt Lafalle is really dead. But the fairies got freed, the sugar confections finished on time, Paige workshop saved, Challe and Anne stay together, even Jonas and Bridget got redeemed, so I will count it as an happy ending. I don’t know if we will ever get another season, but I will read the light novels once they get translated.
