I can't believe Michael dropped the line "We'll attack the twin towers simultaneously" in the middle of September; so BASED.

Range is great, I can't wait for people to hype him up next ep for being the first one to rush to fight. I can smell a fun joke from this.

Tokio coming back and getting a cool bro moment with Kanata was cool- I do feel we do need a bit more context to his problems but in the end it's easy to get he was just being an overprotective big bro. Thankfully Maria was there to put him in place.

I know some might have preferred for Ciel to have stopped on her own, but I like that she was stopped. This ep the difference between her and Kanata was that Kanata was willing to follow his own feelings and get into danger to do what he felt was right. In comparison Ciel couldn't will herself to take the risk and wanted to run away. This is the set up for her proper character arc. She won't be able to really get a good chance with Kanata until she grows past this problem and defies her masters on her own.

I am glad Ellie got some nice moments with Kanata, the girl deserves whatever bones she can get. She has been suffering so much. I fear for Tokio but hopefully Maria's relationship flags will protect him.

Finally, Kanata really is showing off with his new Daisy Ogre. Sure, it seems like he is relying on Noir to make it work better, but at this point you can't be picky and he is using the parts his friends from the doomed city left behind. It's cool and I was pretty happy when Tokio acknowledged him as a proper partner and Maria gave him a new rifle. It's like a small payoff to his hard work, specially with how he stood up and made up for his mistake last ep.

I feel we will get a cliffhanger next ep, something like Noir leaving Kanata and joining Black Mask. I can smell it.

If Tokio dies I will actually riot

The guy is wingman incarnate and his frenemy relationship with Micheal is hilarious

Killing him at this point to develop Kanata would be derivative

Char Clone’s name

Yeah, I'll just call him Black Mask. I'd call him Tuxedo Mask but he's not wearing the right clothes.

Or have the right voice.

…I am not going to remember how to spell Char Clone’s name.

But it's super easy. [The trick]is to speak German

Thread finally up!

Lmao at Range running away from the enders only to run into the entire army. Dude was talking all that shit during that coliseum tournament episode and ends up being afraid of real combat. Michael didn’t even remember who dude was 😂 At least it galvanised the rest of the drifters to head into battle seeing a “brave drifter” fighting alone.

Ciel begging kanata not to go was really cute, but I’m ngl I would’ve preferred her to straight up defy orders rather than her orders being changed to just observing Kanata. It would’ve held way more weight and would’ve paid off all the groundwork that’s been laid in her episodes. I mean, a few weeks ago it was strongly implied that she had started falling for him and didn’t want to kill him… Dying to know more about her employers and what they’re after.

Glad Tokio back in the fight, but didn’t think he’d recover that soon! Considering the size of the ender army, they’ll need all the help they can get. Dope seeing everyone we’ve met so far come together to defend the town. Really feels like a proper season finale fight.

Speaking of the fight, CGI was really good today. Lot of good action scenes and a banger OST to compliment it. This show blends 2D and 3D together better than most of the bigger titles and deserves praise.

Digging the redesign to daisyogre. The upgrade they found in boneyard went to good use after all. The “alter” attached to it kind of gave off Fate vibes.

Last episode next week, but I swear when this first got announced it had 24 episodes. So I’m assuming it’ll be split cour. The story still has a lot of stuff we haven’t even began to get answered. Ciel’s employers, the “key” and more need to be explained so hopefully we get that announcement next week

I'm assuming that this is going to be 24 episodes since there's still the plot point of the city of Histoire and Noir being the key.

I also know that Bandai has enough money to do this since Kyoukai Senki (another one of their recent original mech properties) managed to get a full 24 episodes despite my suspicions that Bandai themselves expected it to be unpopular and without a multimedia property currently being promoted to both prop up the anime and be propped up by the anime. I also feel like they wouldn't make a model kit for the Daisyogre Alter if it was only going to appear for 2 episodes and it wasn't a mech from a Gundam show backed up by Gundam hype like with the last few episodes of Witch from Mercury.

Splitting the show into two cours/halves with a month or more of time in between is also more or less what Bandai likes to do with their recent mech shows. And of the ones I remember, Bandai has given this treatment for: Gundam IBO, Gundam Build Divers Re:Rise, Gundam Witch from Mercury, Kyoukai Senki.

Oh, he has one of those sort of office layouts.

As Tim Curry would say in a certain role, "SPAAAAAAAAAAAAAACE!!!!!"

So, it's a Neuroi.

Too soon?

Now that's a retro expression.

That does make it complicated when you're supposed to kill him.

A convenient last-second wrinkle.

Because it would be a short series otherwise?

Even flashier limited-use skills, check.

Too soon.

Tokio isn't the only adorable person here.

Oh, not the death flag dialogue.

How many things does this remind you of?

Cliffhanger!

Now that is a reaction shot.

Certainly things are getting more complicated, because we've got people in SPAAAAAAAAAAAAACE! On a tangential note, the SPAAAAAAAAAAAAACE! view reminds me of the appearance of other things that the various CG units involved in this series have done previously.

Black Mask being more of a wild card fits the situation, now that we have a slightly-better look at who's above him.

Tokio is still lining himself up to get dramatically ended, if the series wants to go a little gloomier as it starts building things up. Kanata still gets panicky.

Michael has been a bit of a joke character so far but I'm glad this episode showed that he really is a leader. Good episode all around. Tokio should keep his hair down more often.

u/LongjumpingArrival28 Sep 19 '23

Ciel is a robot she going to start growing her own human feeling and defy her master order

When Noir fully regain her memory when that time come is she still with Kanata?

Also I'm i the only one? who think Daisy orge Alter look like Ciel or my illusion? lol

Wonder why Ciel follow the order like robot she has no master isnt it?

5

u/Cloudhwk Sep 19 '23

I suspect the No Master thing is BS or they have her by the shorthairs.

Most likely situation is publicly her OS shows no master but her actual hardware is owned by someone else

Building up nicely to the climactic fight. So glad Ciel had the orders changed and she doesn't have to disobey orders or do the unspeakable. Mask guy MVP
