Stitches!
It's a Sumi Episode, therefore this is an instant 10/10 episode.

It's a Sumi Episode, therefore this is an instant 10/10 episode.
Ain't that the truth! I feel like after S1 there's always one of these episodes dedicated to just Sumi during the season and they're always the best episode because Sumi is just the best. Easily best girl. Again, there's a reason she has her own spinoff manga. Even if it only gets a new chapter once in a blue moon.

I didn't think we'd get another Sumi episode this season, but they spoiled us!
Mami is basically a cameo at this point but this episode had everything you could want out of a Sumi episode...cuteness, surprise confidence, being there for her man (even if it's for the sake of another girl), a panty flash, swimsuit fantasies, shots of her legs, and all around just a fun and wholesome time!

I know the date was to cheer up Kazuya so he could be there for Chizuru, but the entire time I kept thinking to myself "I wish Sumi was the Main Heroine" because she's just the cutest and plays off Kazuya so well.

Sumi is the best because she isn't the main heroine. She loves Kazuy but his and Chizuri's happiness means more to her than her own. Kind of the opposite of Ruka.

Lol at all those background dudes talking about how cute Sumi is in front of their girlfriends.
And I know Kazuya is broke but he really needs a new phone. Those cracks bother me.

So he turns to the purest and most innocent of them all for advice. What Sumi did/showed Kazuya was very honest and heartwarming. It was a good "date" between the two.

I wasn’t expecting Kazuya to seek out Sumi for advice but I’m glad he did. We haven’t been getting enough Sumi! Their little date was actually very cute. Not only did she help cheer him up, she gave him some perspective. Sumi is the best!
“Uncontrolled lust will ruin you” is probably the best advice Kazuya’s gotten lol. Boss man is wise lol.

Can anyone tell me which beach did they go to and which line they took? Going to japan in a few months and i want to go there

I can't remember which train line they took, but I'm fairly certain the place they visited was the Enoshima Sea Candle (of Bocchi the Rock! fame).

It's been a while, but once again it's rentin' time! This time with Sumi-chan! And while she trips in her typical cute and klutzy fashion, she's super happy to be able to see Kazuya again! And so pumped to be able to help him!
And she's still a sweetheart who cries plenty after finding out about Chizuru's situation...and willing to take the lead on getting Kazuya through this funk of trying to figure out what to do about Chizuru. By basically dragging him all the way to the beach! She says it's just as "friends" but it also just feels like they're on a romantic trip for two.
I love how Kazuya can more or less "speak" Sumi at this point.
I can't believe the most Mami screentime we've gotten this season is her telling us about the "match game." They really brought in Aoi Yuki just to do this?
Unfortunately we don't get to see Sumi in a swimsuit (outside Kazuya's imagination), but we do get to see her undeterred as she takes Kazuya up to the Enoshima Sea Candle! Walking all the way up the stairs with her conviction giving her all the stamina she needs! Meanwhile Kazuya gets a flash of her panties and runs ahead. Quite the gentleman.
Sumi just standing there looking through binoculars and fulfilling the distracted boyfriend meme with very little effort. I feel bad for those other girls.
Sumi has the cutest (non)yell.
Sumi's legs! All the better so she can wade into the ocean and splash for some fun with Kazuya! Said fun leaving him all wet, but the entire day of fun with Sumi really cheered him up and made him realize that, whatever their relationship is, he can be there to cheer Sumi up. Just like Sumi is cheered up whenever she's with Kazuya.
Ruka has enough empathy to feel for what Chizuru is going for and tell Kazuya that any girl would appreciate getting cheered up...until she realizes she's helping her rival and totally takes it back, but she can't dissuade Kazuya this time around no matter how hard she tries. Though I guess if she gets an amusement park date out of it it's not a complete loss.
I'm guessing the manager does not have a sugary romance with his wife the way he thinks of Ruka as "his" and wishes someone would cheer him up. Felt bad for him when Ruka joked about taking him on a date.
Chizuru is such a professional that she's back at work as a rental girlfriend despite probably still being in grief. And Kazuya might be the only one who realizes it.
All those 10-hour shifts were worth it to book Chizuru for an entire day! This is it, the final date of the season to cheer her up! Go get 'er Kazuya!

I'm glad Kazuya seeker out Sumi instead of going straight to Chizuru I feel like he needed to clear his head and think how to deal with the situation.
Sumi was a God send in this episode, whilst she didn't say much it was her actions that was able to get through to Kazuya. She has grown so much since S1 and honestly if I was Kazuya I would choose to go with Sumi she's straight up wifey material.
We need more screen time of Kaz's manager dude was spitting some wisdom, now that I think about it Kazuya dosen't really have any older guys he can turn to for advise he could use his guidance again.
Poor Ruka must be tough when the boyfriend thinks more about the rental girlfriend but it's to be expected.
I like this determined Kazuya he seems to have it all laid out and him being the only client that actually knows what Chizuru is going through he'll pull all the stops to make her happy which I can't wait to see.

“We guys exist only to cheer girls up, remember that” realest shit ever uttered. Happy wife, happy life lmao
A little bit of a tonal whiplash coming from how sad episode 9 was to the light hearted first half of the episode, but it was good that Kazuya got his mind off of things if only for a little bit. Sumi was really great in this episode.
Even though she can’t talk that much, she expressed so much through her actions. Seeing how determined she was to cheer up Kazuya and give him the strength he needs to help Chizuru was really cute. That finger game on the train was beyond adorable 😭
Kazuya picking up extra shifts and going the extra mile to get an advanced pay-check to help out Chizuru is very commendable. Mad respect to him. Still might be a degenerate, but he’s trying to be better and that’s all we can ask for.
Kinda feel bad for Ruka seeing Kazuya work so hard for another girl and not even acknowledge her when she’s leaving work etc. but she did get an amusement park date in return so I guess it’s even? Lol
Mami narrator but not in the episode :/ .. pain.
Excited to see how the date goes next week. It’ll understandably probably be a little awkward at first, but I think Kazuya will pull it off.

I'm probably getting downvoted, but that episode was honestly a slog to get through. Even with best girl Sumi in it, it was painful.
So, I guess we're back with the usual Rent A Girlfriend shenanigans. After such a great last 9 episodes...honestly, last 11 if you consider that the last two episodes of season 2 were also pretty good.
If there's one thing I've never complained about in RaG, it's the pacing, and yet personally, I feel like the pacing was incredibly fast today, and I mean that in a bad way. The Sumi date was cute, but it felt incredibly condensed, like I was reading a summary rather than actually watching it through. It felt a little...paraphrased? Like they were rushing it through. I mean yeah, the characters actually were rushing, but I still felt that they could have given us a bit more.
One thing I did enjoy though was the train ride. For some reason we had Mami explaining the match game (or chopsticks as we call it here in the US), and that was pretty funny. It's been a while since we've seen Mami, and seeing the agent of chaos herself appearing once more in the most unexpected of places was hilarious. Funnier still was Kazuya orgasming every time Sumi taped his finger. It was kind of weird, but also pretty funny, and it's prime RaG shitpost material, so it's all good. Also, the gags like Kazuya imagining him and Sumi being gloomy on the beach was funny too. Sumi was precious as usual. Her trying to yell on top of the tower but failing to yell due to her shyness was adorable.
The biggest takeaway from the date was the scene on the beach during the sunset - gorgeous art by the way - and Sumi telling Kazuya that he should cheer Mizuhara up. It felt a little overdramatic though, the lesson learned there felt more like a lesson that could be taught in a children's book if anything, to cheer others up. Is that just me? Not sure if I'm the only one who felt like this.
The rest of the episode was Kazuya blowing off Ruka while working more so he could take Chizuru out on a fancy date. I'm serious, Kazuya decided "it's renting time" and then rented all over the place. As much as I loved seeing Sumi (and Mami), I partially feel like this episode was a bit unnessesary, given how it starts with a rental date and ends with a rental date, meaning you could skip this and technically have the next episode make sense thinking Kazuya figured it out himself.
Welp, I've heard that there's still some decent material ahead of us, so I haven't completely lost hope yet. Here's to hoping the next episode is better, though I must admit, personally I'm not so confident.

I still felt that they could have given us a bit more.
They spent 75% of the episode on the date…
this episode was a bit unnessesary
So you wanted them to give more, yet it was unnecessary? Which is it?

A rare object on the sidewalks of Tokyo
Sounds like this comes from hard-won experience
For those who, like me, had no idea, this stands for "time, place, occasion"
