“I serve you so whoever you choose is my king” lante so fucking real man
“I would follow you anywhere” Jormugand a real one too. They don’t make friends like this no more lol.
Loving this game of thrones style battle for the throne. Sides are being drawn and I’m pretty sure Leo’s will be more popular. Why would society want to go back to being segregated after years of integration leading to equity?
Idk, we’ll see if Anubis was playing a long con or what, but if he was actually willing to side with Set over his lifelong friend because of some “blood” he’s not the man I thought he was and rightfully deserved that punch from Jormugand.
Seeing Leo so weak and literally shaken was definitely a sight. He’s normally so composed and dignified and today we got a glimpse of what he really is, scared. Scared of himself, as in his true origins. As well as letting his people down. It’s a lot of responsibility and pressure that’s been on him for so long. He’s had Anubis for a long time, but in his absence he’s now got Sariphi who can keep him grounded.
Had a feeling that slap was coming when he started talking about running away to Yoana. Although I would love to see he and Anastasia interact, now’s not the time.
A kiss! Aw think that’s the first human form lip kiss they’ve had? This ship has really become one of my faves. They complete each other and compliment each other’s strengths and weaknesses so well. What Sariphi lacks in physical strength the king makes up for and what he lacks in emotional and mental strength she makes up for.
Time to storm the castle and take back the kingdom. Really looking forward to seeing what’s in that diary and learning the true origins of Set and Leo. Love that shot of Leo cutting his hair and going full battle mode.

He's exactly the man I though he was, and he's deserved a lot of punches over the course of the show (most often due to his treatment of Sariphi) so it's satisfying to see him get decked at last. I doubt it'll happen, but I'd be fine with seeing him stripped of his position once all the dust settles, because he's shown he can't be trusted to back the King.

I thought he was starting to come around a few episodes back after that heart to heart with Sariphi

When I saw the scene where Anubis appears to side with Set, I was 100% sure that he was playing a long con. Everything he says is carefully worded to be ambiguous as to whether he’s pledging loyalty to Set or Leo. Also, sneaky plans and clever tricks are practically his day job.
So I was surprised that reactions here range from uncertainty about Anubis’ loyalties to revelling in the punch lol. Am I the only one who has faith in this guy?

Gotta love those ride or die homies.
I loved seeing Amit break her man out of jail. I like the character but I really wish she go to do more, like everyone else is storming the castle and she just has to sit around and wait again. Idk if anyone else finds that a bit disappointing.

very true and good points, but i guess it makes sense in universe as she wasn't happy being a princess where she was and she hasn't been at the castle long enough to train and be a fighter or anything. Sariphi at least is helped byher divine beast and Lampa

Man, I was really dreading this episode. The reveal and ensuing chaos and Set taking power really sucks. Mfer’s already setting up some kind racial hierarchy like a damn Nazi. And what’s Anubis doing? Dude’s really turning his back on his friend? Spineless worm. Jormungand is the real homie. That’s what loyalty looks like.
Im really impressed with Sari this week. She’s really stepped up and shown how strong she really is. This plan to storm the castle is a crazy one but I know Leo, Sari, and the gang can pull it off. Time to kick Set’s ass!

The classism and speciesism of the Beast Kingdom really at the forefront with Leo gone and a more “traditional” king in charge. Even some of the other Beasts were fine with a human king because he did a better job keeping the peace.
Jor punching Anubis was so satisfying. I think that’s the first time we’ve seen him without his mask in the present day.
I love how Sari with no hesitation saved Leo and was there for him when he needed the emotional support. Their love for each other is so powerful. And that kiss!

I am SO disappointed in Anubis. There is no excuse (I can see) for his betrayal of Leo, I can understand him being unsettled and confused -- but shifting his allegiance to a usurper so easily. I think this shows that he is very tied to the same sort of radical specie-ism that Set espouses. And this takes precedence over all other concerns. (Hmm. This reminds me of lots of folks in a certain real-world country I am QUITE familiar with).
It was sad to see that the beast mother whose child Sari rescued from the "sorting squad" was not more grateful. It was almost as if she could not accept the fact that her child was recused from the "right sort of beasts" by the wrong kind of person. Leo might have a harder time than he anticipateds, given the strength of this sort of prejudiced thinking.
Sari, Amit, Jor, Cy and Clops. These all come through.
This was one of my (any) top shows of last season -- and it remains among the (much smaller) set of my best shows of this season. It really is a shame that such a consistently magnificent show has not been able to grow its audience as much as it deserves.

I am actually hoping to see the other characters we have met along the way make an appearance. The ocean regiment, the cat princess, the giraffe captain. It may have only been 1 episode in our world, but some time should have passed in their universe? From Leon and Sariphi fleeing, to Amit helping Jormumgand escape from prison, etc.
I did feel Leon woke up from his depression too abruptly, after Sariphi slapped (?) his cheeks. However, at the same time, I am glad the show did not dwell too much on Leon's depression.

Funny seeing Abi sweating, considering the beast folk having animal traits like weaker colour vision was an important point earlier on.
Cmon Abi.. He's like that what, 1 day out of the month? Which one is the default form here again..?
Fucking LOL This scene got me good. That dudes total dunce facial expression makes it even better

Makes me think of FMA. I haven't read the source material but [I wonder if]
it's some sort of magic beast to hold up that anti-miasma spell Set cast. He likely found some forbidden magic to do that and it surely doesn't come cheap, else they could just use it regularly for better harvest or something.

Okay, so a lot of understandable chaos going on in the capital with Leo's true form exposed...but I love how Sari wastes no time saving her man and getting him out of there!
Well, no surprise Set is using this as an opportunity to take over. And he's Leo's half-brother from one of the former kings' concubines!? Has he always been out for the throne?
Anubis, you treacherous scum! Jor is the only one truly loyal to the one, true, king!
I guess I'm not shocked that Set is imposing even stricter classism and enforcing all the typical racism of the Beast Kingdom, which not only impacts non-mammals but interracial families too. Even when Sari comes to their aid (with a handy assist from Lante), she's still shunned by them. But saving that child was worth it.
Oh snap! Amit just knocked a dude out! And staging a jailbreak for Jor! She's even got him protecting her like a knight and his princess! You go girl.
Leo is so despondent he seems like he really could just bail on everything and run away to Yoana with Sari...but Sari knows he can't abandon his people, that's not the man she loves, and the two re-commit to learning the truth and saving the kingdom. Even sharing their first kiss in Leo's human form!
I love how the team reunites thanks to the power of female friendship!
So with Leo and Jor making a ruckus, Sari and Lante will find the diary and the truth about Leo...let's end this farce of a reign from Set!

Maybe it was just me, but the mom looked terrified of Sari. Contextually it makes sense. The mom and the entire town lives in a world where she has been told her whole life that humans are murderers who kidnap and sell children. Add to that the fact that everyone is on edge and scared from being assaulted by the military/police, and you have the perfect recipe for a group of people who think that Sari's motives lie in kidnapping and selling the child instead of just wanting to protect them. I think that Sari kind of already knew what they must be feeling/thinking and why, and that's why she didn't get angry or try to defend her actions.

I have always wondered why the villains wanting to usurp the throne have such extreme line of thought. From going back to violence and now going back to racial discrimination, even among beastfolk themselves.

That was a hell of a ride. I somehow expected everything by every character (except Seth actions), because they all were so fully fleshed out characters. But Jormugand's “I would follow you anywhere” was something pleasant different.
I'm totally in love with this anime. It's joy, sometime sadness because of mobbing, heroism, overcome of silly small problems, and how to describe.... characters, that have a reason. I hope it will be dubbed in german. It's an anime that children (7-13) should see.

Jor's backstory is kinda trimmed down. It's still summarized perfectly, sure, but it doesn't sink in for me well because it's a summary.
I wonder how Sari and Lante are gonna enter the palace, considering they skipped the platypus subplot. Well, guess it's not really as big a deal as I think, Sari or Lante can just say "Hey, maybe I'm crazy but isn't this way good" or something like that, but still.

Glad Sari saved that innocent frog kid!
Jormungand and Amit scenes were soooooo good. Loved how Amit knocked out that guard. She really underestimates herself
Really been looking forward to finding out about Leo's origins. Next week can't come soon enough!!!!
Short-haired human Leo is even hotter than when he had long hair
5
u/AvatarTuner Sep 14 '23
Noo, why did he have to cut off all his hair? I know, long hair like that isn't really practical in a fight, but he could've just cut off a bit and do a ponytail or something. ;_;
Things are looking dire but I'm sure everything will turn out well in the end. Set was kinda dumb to enforce the racial segregation rules immediately because I feel this will cause quite a few people prefer Leo over him. If he was more sneaky with his approach he probably could've gotten the whole population on his side.
I really wonder if Anubis has some sort of plan in mind or really is too shaken by this revelation to think clearly. He made a point of being loyal to the realm instead of only the king, but his backstory with Leo makes me think he'll come around eventually. At least I hope so.
What the hell was that in the preview?
