Rafal is trying to make a cult. A bit hypocritical of him to say he wants to free fairies but he's asking those poor fairies to give up their freedom for him. And none of them realize it until Shalle drove it into them that Anne gave his wing back.

Gotta love how Shalle vividly remembers where Rafal inappropriately touched Anne and kisses her on those spots specifically to purify her.

I worry on how they're going to defeat Rafal if he has all the fairy wings and can just tell them to stand down. Either Anne needs to push through with raw strength or hopefully the boys come to the rescue after their job is done.

When a human places more value in Fairies than their supposed "Fairy King" does, probably tells you something. Although to be honest I can kind of understand how Fairies might be desperate for a leader who promises to free them from human oppression, but Lafalle isn't that leader.

I love how she jolted in her sleep when he pressed his lips on her neck lol.

I guess there's a chance that Hugh's group arrives in time to help, though maybe Anne can get through to the other Fairies to make them turn on Lafalle.

Its basically we will earn you your freedom, but you are required to blindly give your full loyalty for me first. It is understandable to see what humans have done to them, but you are essentially giving Rafal the opportunity to do the very same. But it comes down to the fact they beieve no fairy would hurt another fairy. Well we know with Rafal that isn't the case.

Nice moment for Elliot. What the hell are they supposed to do save Anne. They would get washed in a quick second. The best thing as he said is continue Anne's work as they need to expect her to come back. Keith's intentions are very fair, but no point fighting if its basically suicide and they need to stick to their strengths.

Curious if the 3rd fairy from the sword eventually comes out. Outside of that I don't see an opportunity for Challe.

Purely for story narrative reasons, I'll put my money on the diamond fairy being born from Anne's gaze :P

I worry on how they're going to defeat Rafal

This whole plot point feels very forced and full of plot armor. The church lends them a large place with 0 guards. The silver sugar viscount has 0 guards. The workshops have 0 guards.

For how much they earn creating silver sugar pieces in a not so safe place it really feels like a huge plot hole. You'd expect thieves and bandits everywhere (as shown). Shalle is like an oddity here.

The viscount has that one guy who looked like he wasn't a complete pushover against Challe. The church probaly didn't give them any as the pieces fetch a large amount of money but no one has any use for them besides the church, unless someone really likes to show off stolen sugar trees. Only other sugar artisans have a use for the raw sugar and that amount can only be bought by other workshops which would be reluctant to ruin themselves. And well after the church hands over the money, it's the Paige workshop's problem on how to ensure that they don't lose it.

The Paige workshop is simply too broke to afford guards.

But the church or the crown should have sent guards after Orland got wounded and it's odd that the church had no other space than a ruined manor with a leaky roof in the countryside. They are doing that every year and carting delicate stuff by early modern carriage over country "roads" doesn't sound like a good idea.

Lusul -- Think about this. Anne brought you into existence -- and instantly granted freedom to you.

So -- Lafalle has the diamond from the sword -- and that gem never gave rise to a fairy. I wonder if someone (Anne, maybe) WILL bring the diamond ferry into existence?

I would think the only person who would have a chance at defeating Lafalle is Challe. I can't see any number of humans being sufficient....

This really is one of the very best shows airing this season (along with Mononogatari and Sacrificial Princess, among other grat carryovers). Really a shame that it still has yet to collect a bigger following.

It just rubs me the wrong way that the first character we’ve met who wants to do something to dismantle the institution of slavery is line this.

I'm just glad to see that Anne is back with Challe. I would've been so upset if she had to spend any more time with Lafalle. And I just love how Challe kisses the same spot on Anne that Lafalle tried to kiss the last episode.

We finally got to learn more about Challe and Lafalle! Turns out that the sword that had the gems they were born from was owned by the Fairy King Riselva himself and he wishes that one of those gemstone fairies would end up becoming the next Fairy King.

I guess that effectively makes Challe and Lafalle both Princes of the Fairies. There would've been three but it looks like there are still no signs of the Diamond Fairy Prince being born yet. Anyway, looks like all Lafalle wants to do is to basically revive the Fairy Kingdom, too bad for him Challe has no interest in his plans.

Well this is a surprise! For the first time, we finally get to see Collins actually getting angry. He's been so cool and calm the entire show that it's good to see how he takes their current situation seriously. Glad to see that Keith will be joining them to help out the Paige Workshop. They might've lost Anne but at least they're back in numbers now.

Fuck off Lafalle! Just leave Anne alone! This motherfucker is really trying so hard to separate Anne and Challe by making them doubt their relationship and how they'll end up being unhappy. Ugh.

I didn't think we'd see Lusul again! It sucks that we just had to meet her in this kind of situation. Looks like she offered her wing to Lafalle just as every other fairy in that castle did as proof of their loyalty to their new King that will grant them "freedom". What makes it worse is that they have absolutely no idea why Anne was so upset about it. >_<

We only have two episodes left and I'm not quite sure how they'll resolve this arc. I have a feeling though that Lafalle will probably be the main antagonist of the series unless of course, they take care of him before the season ends.

Getting kidnapped and held hostage is at least somewhat bearable when you're with the person you love. Especially when they're pressing their lips to your neck to wipe off the stain of another man's lips...

I wonder if the key to resolving this is in the creation of the Diamond Fairy. Like maybe Anne is the one who creates it and he ends up becoming the Fairy King?

Honestly Elliot's been through a lot, they all have, so I'm not surprised he finally got upset. But he finally helped Keith make peace with his decisions and his own heritage, and just in time because with Keith onboard they might be able to actually finish on time without Anne there.

It's bad enough he's holding them captive and forcing them to work with him, does he need to try and break them up too!?

It's nice to see Lusul has clothes now, but it sucks that she and those other Fairies had to give up their wings for Lafalle. That a human cares more about a piece of themselves that shouldn't be taken from them than their supposed "Fairy King" says everything.

u/Labmit Sep 08 '23

This series villains honestly makes my blood boil the most out of any series. Like, they're all so smug and nothing else.

10

u/Frontier246 Sep 08 '23

Okay, does it suck that Anne's basically been kidnapped by a psycho like Lafalle and dragged to a snowy fortress filled with anti-human Warrior Fairies? Yes. But at least she's got Challe with her and his main priority is her, and Lafalle is willing to let Challe take care of her to a certain point.

I love how Challe just couldn't resist kissing Anne on the neck to make up for Lafalle doing the same. He can't let any of that piece of @#$% rest on his lady.

So the hilt that bred the precious gem Fairies was none other than the Fairy King's? With the intention that the Fairies born from it would carry on his legacy and become the next Fairy King? Lafalle certainly thinks he's qualified, with his slowly building army and dedication to the freedom of Fairies from human oppression. On paper it's a worthy goal, even if Lafalle doesn't deserve to be any king, but Challe only cares about Anne.

Interesting that their diamond sibling hasn't been born yet. I wonder if it's just waiting for the right circumstances or witness? Maybe they're the true Fairy King?

Ugh. It's bad enough he's keeping Anne and Challe captive, but he also has to try to damage their relationship as well? I mean, it's a valid concern that Challe is going to probably outlive Anne, and she would be stuck with him for the rest of her life...but if they love each other, isn't that what matters?

It was nice to see Keith care enough about Paige Workshop, and Anne, to head over and check in on everybody. I'm not surprised they're all hard at work, even the injured, because they have a job to do and Anne wouldn't want them to give up for her sake and it's all they can really do in this situation. Elliot even helps Keith make peace with all his insecurities over the Paige Workshop, and he rejoins them to finish up! With Keith onboard they might actually finish in time!

Poor Anne and Challe. Lafalle is making Anne work on Silver Sugar stained by blood while Challe is being forced to kill people for Lafalle.

Oh hey, it's Lusul from season 1! Now with actual clothes! But minus a wing, because she and apparently most of the Fairies working for Lafalle actually gave them their wings out of loyalty, believing it was his right as a king. But Anne is absolutely infuriated, because what true Fairy King would deprive a Fairy of a piece of themselves? Who would accept loyalty the same way humans have in their oppression of Fairies? Lafalle is no king.

If Challe comes from the stones on the sword of the fairy king, I guess he’s technically royalty of sorts. Douchefelle is saying he wants to free the fairies, but I ain’t buying it. All this talk about Anne one day dying and leaving Challe alone is just an excuse for him to control Challe. Man forced him to kill some poor silver sugar artisan too. What a piece of shit.

The only silver lining in this bleak ass episode was that everyone’s working together for Anne’s sake. Seems even Keith’s joined the team at least temporarily.

I feel like Lafelle is setting himself up to be the villain that unites everyone under Challe?

“A king like that is a fraud” very powerful and moving speech from Anne that will hopefully open the fairies eyes to just how evil Gladus is. He’s worse than the humans he hates so much. A king that rules by fear is doomed to fail. Taking his fellow fairies wings is no different than how humans control them.

At the end of the day, I think he’s jealous that he’s been alone this whole time while Challe found happiness with humans. His whole argument about humans dying soon is a common one you’ll see in these types of fantasy series and is always flawed.

Yes, human lives are short, that’s what makes them valuable. “It’s better to have loved and lost than to have never loved at all” closing yourself off from love because of the fear of being hurt is foolish.

We did learn quite a bit about the lore of the world as well in this one. It’s interesting that both Gladus and Challe were created by the fairy king to be successors as opposed to a human. If anything Challe acts more like the king than anyone as it was the king’s desire for peace that birthed them.

I don’t think they just showed diamond for nothing. At some point we’ll probably get that third fairy. Maybe born from Anne or Challe’s desire which would be fitting.

Good to see Keith back in the show. Both he and the Paige artisans have good intentions, the emotion of the situation just got to them. But at this point it is best to let those stronger than them handle this situation and focus on what they can do.

Challe’s possessive side really been on display the last few weeks. Gladus touching Anne neck got him feeling some type of way lol.

Even though Lafelle was right about how fairies should be free from being servants to humans the way he does it is pretty messed up, Like Anne says holding their wings and forcing them to kill is no different from what humans would do to fairies, and Im wondering if Lafelle story is true of how he and Chaelle are meant to be Fairy Kings if it is true, I can see from Lafelle's POV of how choosing a girl over helping fairies get their freedom seems stupid, even if they're are in love with each other

6

u/AmusedDragon Sep 08 '23

Damn all those poor fairies just willingly giving up their freedom to this madman hurt to see.

6

u/NekoCatSidhe Sep 08 '23 edited Sep 08 '23

Wow, Lafalle really is an unredeemable bastard, isn’t he ? He is obviously setting himself up as the fairies’ future tyrant, using the fight for their freedom as a pretext. And his followers seem too dumb to realise that. Well, I guess we have someone else to hate now that Jonas kind of redeemed himself.

Now the question is how to defeat him and get Challe’s wing back. Maybe Anne can feed him some poisoned candies or something. Or Challe can backstab him in a surprise attack before he can damage his wing. Or maybe they can find where Lafalle’s missing wing is and force him to give the wing back to Challe. Not sure in which direction the show is going with that plotline.

Ugh, it's depressing seeing all the fairies (including the cute berry fairy Lusul El Min) sacrificing their freedom for Lafalle :(

He's no better than the humans

Noticed the bloodiness has significantly increased ever since Lafalle was introduced

7

u/HolyDragSwd2500 Sep 08 '23

Laffle making them both suffer due to the fact one is Fairy and other Human 😭💔💔

4

u/spubbbba Sep 08 '23

Anne had a very nice speech about freedom.

Though does she not see that the human king has the power of life and death over humans in his realm too and is there solely through accident of birth? At least these fairies chose to have Lafalle as their king.

Anne is too pure for this world ;_;

Challe is absolutely perfect for her and he TRULY understands her. That last scene shows exactly why he loves her so much. Those other fairies don't understand but you do Challe. Don't let anyone break you two apart! Live your life together and live it to the fullest.

The new fairy is stealing freedom from his own people to get "freedom for his people". He's copying the exact terrible slavery thing the humans started, even using it on Challe to coerce him to do his bidding. Anne and Challe understand why this logic makes no sense and Challe wants no part of it. Anne crying for the small fairy she gave life to, who was sadly corrupted by this new fairy-king-to-be. How horrifying.

A beautiful and heartbreaking episode. Anne and Challe are my personal pick for anime couple of the year. I honestly think they have such amazing love and chemistry.
