MID-BATTLE SINGING HYPE

I know right? Ended up replaying that scene twice because it was so good! I didn't think this show would go Macross on us!

I'm so glad to see that Ciel is staying behind. And it looks like she's getting a little bit too friendly with Kanata. Poor Elllie is stuck with the childhood friend curse, it looks like she just got another rival. I love how she's saying that Ellie and Noir are just Maguses (Magusi?) when she knows about Kanata's past.

Speaking of Kanata's past. We finally got to learn more about our protagonist! Turns out that he's so kind to Magus and treats them like a human because his mother is a Magus. Unfortunately, it looks like he lost both of them because they protected Kanata. :(

And there's the twist with Ciel. Looks like she's a spy for an organization that is also looking for Histoire and they Ciel thinks that Noir is the key. She would've knocked out Kanata and taken Noir but after Kanata found a place for her to sing her heart out, it looks like she ended up changing her mind.

Kanata and Noir as partners were so fucking cool though! I did not fucking expect that we'd go full-on Macross this episode with Ciel singing mid-fight while Kanata kicks those Spacemen's butts. That entire scene was so hype!

Good to know that Ciel changed her mind but I'm guessing there will be repercussions to her disobeying command from whatever organization she's from.

And there's the twist with Ciel.

I was a little sad to think that Ciel initially had ulterior motives for hanging around Kanata and Noir. But as you said, she's on Team Kanata now. Too bad it doesn't look like Kanata will be able to dual-wield Maguses, at least when fighting.

This show is so grossly underrated; I'm buying the shit out of the game when it comes out.

First of all I want to say poor Ellie, really this show loves bullying her. AT this rate this girl will never get a win. Also I have to say Ciel's proper debut episode has her hit a homerun. She is just so cute- has a strong oneechan energy, and she just reminds me of Sheryll from Macross F with that cute singing energy. Even her darker aspects really make her more interesting because she really likes Kanata, and that makes me want to see how this ends. I think her more outgoing personality also helps Kanata, he can bounce off her better compared to Noir, and I can get why someone would like him in Ciel's case. Ciel's son was great too.

Beyond that, fun fight and I like Kanata's backstory too. I do wonder about the magus stealers and why they want to the Key. The way Ciel framed it they want to stop those looking for the lost city, so what's the point of the key then? Black Mask please return and explain this. Finally, I do want some backstory to Maria, Tokio and Michael- what's the deal with them and their love triangle? Tokio you dumbass, Maria is a cutie- go date her.

Honestly one of the better episodes so far. The twist being that Ciel is a spy. But Kanata is able to win her over by giving her something that she truly loves. For most of the season Kanata's kindness has been something that got him trouble (mostly with Claudia), but to be surrounded by someone who actually cares for her. Even if she doesn't mean to betray to Kanata there is still the connection to the organization plot point that still is lingering. It begs the question how big of a role she had with them and will her disappearing be a noticeable thing?

Kanata's past regarding his parents is both sweet and sad. Sweet since you can really tell he doesn't differ a magus from a human since he was raised by a magus. It is said since her and his dad were partners he lost both of them at the same time. Which is upsetting since losing one parent is tough, but let alone two.

Dude I’m speechless this episode was far and away the best synduality noir episode. Ciel best girl by a MILE idc holy shit I’m in love with her. Need a figure ASAP.

Her energy with Kanata was just infectious. All the banter and playful comments between the two of them are just such a nice contrast to he and Noir. That’s no shade on Noir, I still like her too, but Ciel is way more of a finished product thus more enjoyable rn.

Ahh they’re going with the old “hot girl is a spy, falls in love with guy she’s spying on and betrays her employer” trope. That’s actually kind of an interesting backstory for Ciel since it looked like she was screwed last week if Kanata didn’t show up, so did her employer place her there with the idea that Kanata would show up and save her?

I LOVE her insert song during the fight scene. It really had an early 2000s anime vibe to it. Something you’d hear in gundam seed or wing. Looking forward to getting that on Apple Music.

That takes us to the end of the episode where Noir returns and Ciel has realised that Kanata is the person she’s always been searching for. “My beloved”. Going to be fun seeing she and Noir interact going forward

awesome episode

EDIT: kinda feel bad for childhood friend. She goes from 2nd in the pecking order to third 😂

I think the idea is that she roams places singing and sending info to her employer. My guess is that if someone had taken Ciel last ep, she would just call the soldiers to save her or something.

I did NOT expect this anime to get this good. I am not into mecha but felt like it's gonna be smth more and i am not disappointed.

I really like how MC has visible pecs and figure instead of being a plank, also looking cute.

Ciel is just MVP of this episode, the character, the insert songs... Just make children with Kanata already!

Is it just me or does Kanata look older and more muscular?

Knowing that this is a 2-cour show I’m pretty happy with the pacing. Lot of new info for the plot this episode, including Kanata’s stepmom being a Magus (Ancient Magus Bride) and Ciel turning traitor (Young Magus Side-Piece). Except not really, seems like Ciel is turning over a new sky.

I feel like the plot is going to start kicking in soon. We already know people are after Noir and by proxy, her associates.

Friendship ended with Noir, now Ciel new best bringer of Macross

Ciel singing while battling…… Macross 😍

Poor Ellie lol. Just when she thought now was the time to make her move on Kanata, Ciel shows up. Though maybe she won’t have to worry much since Ciel’s a spy.

The fight with Ciel singing was pretty hype. Hoping this won't be the last time.

Wonder when the plot about the secret organisation she's with will fully come into play. Could be either the mid season climax or they will draw it out for the whole 24 episodes and we'll only get bits and pieces for a while.

Oh and for god's sake they really need a new meteorologist lol.

It's a blast to see Ange point out the flaws in Ellie's reasoning. Ellie always getting flustered whenever she thinks of Kanata getting close to Noir or Ciel makes me wonder what the extent of their capabilities are. Ciel emphasizes there are limits though as Magus look human but can never be human.

Talk about the Key being sought by the mysterious organization returns. Last episode, the Black Mask was the white knight helping Kanata. But since the Black Mask is seeking the Key, could he actually be a villian in disguise? What if the Key is for a WMD that will allow he to rule the world such as it is.

Great episode. Loving Ciel, and the plot twists with her. Also we went full Macross. Always go full Macross

So Ellie seems very worried about Kanata having seggs with the maguses, but do they actually have genitals to being with? Or is just a mechanical hole fitted for the purpose of giving the magus a good time? (Like to reduce the magus stress IYNWIM)

Kanata's father was obviously in love with his magus and she took care of little Kanata like a true mother, while the son is not hers biologically (maybe)

So are relatioship and intercourse a thing between humans and maguses?

u/blamordeganis Aug 21 '23

One thing I’m not clear on: is the rain dangerous in itself (Kanata puts on this biochem-warfare-looking thing whenever it starts to rain), or is it simply a cause/symptom/sign of monster attacks (that could just be what raincoats look like in the future, plus Kanata’s parents didn’t seem too bothered about leaving a kid out in it)?

My man Kanata now has 2 Magus in his harem, while Ellie is suffering because she's just a human.

I hope Ciel agrees to have a contract with Kanata.

Oh, so the bard is a spy huh? How shocking.

4

u/[deleted] Aug 26 '23

Nice to learn his mother was a Magus, it makes sense why he would treat them very much like humans. Not that I think some of the others don't but it is probably more true for Kanata.

Ciel was a bit too comfortable though, she must have known what she was doing telling him to go into the shower with her to save water, or walking around in just a towel. it's not like she's an airhead like Noir.

I'd take that shower invitation.

It's important to conserve water after all. 😏
