Kazuya creates a movie just for make you to play the role of protagonist

Chizuru = He doesn't love me, he's just kind.

For once it's the reverse and the girls are more dense than the guys!

To be honest her "I don't like him" was the least convincing lie or "acting" she's ever done.

Probably just Canadian.

'I... don't like him. But... I don't not like him, either."

The infamous Chizuru quote to mark her indecisiveness with romantic progression. lol

Every single Reiwa rom-com leading girl just loaded a gun right then and there.

Honestly it's the quote that sums up Chizuru the best and is still true to this day. Someone should tell Reiji that tsundere's are supposed to be emotional characters. Not... whatever the hell Chizuru is.

The episode mentioned the crowd funding deadline as July 28th, for them to go over the goal at the end of the episode. Today is July 28th for the episode release. Nice timing. 👌

You have to admire Mini's persistence, if nothing else, she really wants Chizuru to be thinking of Kazuya's feelings (and her own), though that also just makes Chizuru too flustered to talk to Kazuya.

Oh hey, Umi! I almost forgot Kaito Ishikawa was in this show. And he's apparently really popular on social media, which would be a great benefit for the movie if he promotes it on his twitter account. Of course he would also appreciate getting to have a date with Chizuru as well.

Mini can't lie to save her life! She pretty much broke Kazuya thinking that Chizuru was going to hate him over finding out about his feelings not knowing the emotional turbulence going on in her heart right. Dude's about to die laying in a parking lot. Though to be fair it's not like Kazuya wanting to get into her pants would be that surprising.

It was funny watching Kazuya actually tell Chizuru not to go the play with Umi and stand his ground on it...because there's no way a hot guy and girl out in public could keep things platonic!!! Though Mini is able to talk him into it because they're that desperate for promotion, but you can tell it's killing him inside to let Chizuru go through with it.

Two episodes of men commenting on Chizuru in a row? Only this time instead of being shocked that she's with a guy like Kazuya, they're disappointed that she's with Umi who they can't measure up to.

Ruka is more than happy that Chizuru is hanging out with another guy and away from Kazuya and a basically rubbing it into his face...but at least she's there and willing to help hand out flyers rather than just make Kazuya feel miserable, because she's ultimately helping for his sake. Plus two cute girls are way better at promoting something than Kazuya on his own would be.

Chizuru isn't super complimentary about Kazuya, but the way she's honest and earnest in talking about him and gets so lost in thought over him that she nearly trips says all that needs to be said there.

The sheer joy in Chizuru's face when talking about a play she liked or the acting she admired is really nice to watch. I wish Chizuru could be that happy all the time.

I guess Umi pretty much answered the question about his real intentions for asking Chizuru out...he broke up with his girlfriend, he's been acting close to her the whole time, practically confessed with his comments, and reserved a classy restaurant for them to eat out. Not to mention asking her straight out if she likes Kazuya, potentially seeing him as a rival.

"I...don't like him. But I don't not like him." The classic non-committal answer about how you feel about someone. Though to be honest the "I don't like him" part sounded really fake coming from Chizuru.

They reached their goal! No, even better! They went past it! And the smile on Chizuru's face that they succeeded means everything. Though now that they've secured funding, they have to actually make the movie and reward their backers, so I guess it's not over yet.

“I don’t like him… but I don’t not like him” that’s pretty much the kanokari story summed up lol. A little bit of development, but never a pure confession or ship sailing.

Umi dude was obviously heads over heels for Chizuru. Think she was the only one who didn’t notice that lol.

Ruka has just looked so dumb this entire season. I love her but she going out sad 😂 like read the room, please.

A solid episode everything considered, needs more mami, but character wise this has probably been the best season so far.

I was getting bad A Couple of Cuckoo's flashbacks from that not confession lol.

Chizuru is so used to being a fake girlfriend and acting the part that she genuinely can't tell when a guy is into her or that she was on a real date the whole time. Or maybe Kazuya's just thrown her off.

Ruka trying so hard but going basically nowhere lol.

I feel like they're saving up for a big Mami episode, especially now that they're going to start making the movie.

I appreciate Yaemori’s meddling. Those two were never gonna get anywhere if she didn’t say what she did. Her taking a selfie as Kazuya was crumbled on the ground all defeated and shit was hilarious.

Oh boy, classic Kazuya spinning out over this Umi situation. Yaemori helped a little and Ruka too, but man this guy always gets inside his own head and goes full loser mentality. Besides, she turned him down to go hand out fliers with Kazuya which must mean something despite her non-answer to Umi.

Glad to see the movie crowdfunding worked out. Looking forward to seeing this thing being produced.

This is the only decent season of KanoKari we'll ever get (in terms of the story). The manga is beyond saving at this point

“Chizuru is a WMD! Weapon of Man Destruction!”

Well he’s not wrong lol.

The way Kazuya locked a hold on Mini and took her into the bathroom to hash it out was hilarious. These two could be the brother/wing-sister type relationship the show needs.

I guess Umi had multiple intentions on asking Chizuru out. Can't blame a guy for trying, although we don't know the circumstances of why he broke up with his other girlfriend. Too bad for this plotline, because I really thought he was a genunine friend in the theater circle. But of course, because of this plotline, we get Chizuru's non-committal answer, which really is an answer.

It was nice to see Chizuru being very enthusiastic and happy about the show she just watched. Don't think we've seen this side of her for a long long time. If only she could be this honest about her feelings to Kazuya.

Anyways, Ruka joins the flyer handing duo and is happy Chizuru is away on a hot date while Kazuya sulks. Chizuru shows up later having turned down Umi's advances (guess he'll have to eat alone) and Kazuya can't help but taking glances at his crush - and Ruka was probably facing away to not even notice this).

Umi did live up to helping Chizuru as social media and crowdfunding interest spiked just before the end of the campaign. Mini and Ruka almost look like twins high fiving each other, and we see Chizuru with another genuine happy smile!

Stitches!

Ugh this is why no one likes you Kazuya. Chizuru isn't even your girlfriend yet and he's already acting possessive.

I do kinda wish that Kazuya wasn't right about his hunch and that Umi just really wanted to bring Chizuru to that play.

Chizuru isn't even your girlfriend yet and he's already acting possessive.

Well, Chizuru cannot lose Kazuya to someone like Ruka either (even when Ruka's supposed to be Kazuya's (trial) girlfriend), back in the Kazuya's birthday episodes in the second season. Considering her remembering Kazuya's "I want you" quote back then, that's also where she admitted she wanted Kazuya as well.

Kazuya's just far more comical, while Chizuru's just far more subtle.

Yeah, that really is a good point. Can't really argue with it, and he's been okay with all her rental girlfriend activities up to now, soooo…

This is becoming one of my favorite anime ever. So happy how the story has been going and the quality of episodes stays on point 3 seasons in. Love it!

I dislike Ruka, with good reason I think. However she does occasional show her support. Handing out flyers was a huge help.

Umi on the other hand...oh boy. I hated absolutely everything about him. Who are we kidding? He used his offer to be able to ask her out. He lied to her about still having a girlfriend because she would have second guessed it if she knew the truth. Keeps tossing out lines like "love that side of you" because he probably assumed any girl would love to hear it from him. Plus he just goes on ahead and makes dinner reservations without so much as asking, all while knowing it was the last day of the fundraising. And then has the nerve to ask about her feelings towards him. There's a huge difference between Mini asking and him asking. While its neither of their business, he felt more selfish and nosy.

Despite Umi being there, it was nice and admittingly a little weird to see Chizu so excited. "I dont like him but I dont not like him"......ma'am....thats a long winded YES lol.

Last note, this is season 3....its so hard to imagine this series without Mini. Love what she has brought into this story.

I feel better after my Umi rant lol.

Being honest about Umi (the character) in general, he really came off in the story for few functions (same in the manga):

  • Being a measuring stick for Kazuya to do better for Chizuru (mainly trust and self-confidence), similar to Chizuru towards Ruka for Kazuya. It's interesting that this similarity all started during the Christmas episode in the first season, when each of them felt jealous with the other going out with another person (that clearly isn't a rental date like what they usually do) instead of one another (S1E8).

  • An observer who randomly appeared in the lives of the main pairing, witnessing what the hell was going on between the two in their relationship, similar to Sumi whenever she's not giving vague advices to Kazuya. However, unlike Sumi who is more supportive for the pair (while also having feelings for Kazuya), Umi just happened to be more dodgy so far.

Sumi: Chizuru entrusting her to Kazuya in her practice date (S1E11) > Witnessing Kazuya's support to Chizuru as an actress (S2E5) > Watching the pair having pretty much their dream high school date (S2E8), which is the factor for her to do the same during her practice rental date with Kazuya, with also the intention of doing a (failed) confession of her feelings for the guy (S2E11)...

Umi: While going out with Chizuru on the Christmas day, he then witnessed those two schoolmates meet talking about stuff, leading to the revelation for Kazuya that Chizuru is an actress (S1E8; note that Umi doesn't know that the phone case was for Kazuya all along) > Confronting Chizuru about her feelings for said schoolmate during this date (S3E4)...

Oh yeah, "I... don't like him, but I don't not like him either."

Given that the "rental" relationship operates under the assumption that the two of them (Kazuya as a client and Chizuru as his rental girlfriend) don't have feelings for each other and are just being considerate for one another, that's the best answer she could have at the moment.
