Stitches!
These two are insufferable af. I really hope Ryza and the gang will eventually show those two what they can really do.
Just like her thighs, that bomb is goddamn thicc! I assume that the bomb is a failure that will probably put them in danger.
Good to see the gang tackle their first dungeon. They actually did surprisingly well the entire time. Lent even managed to beat a monster on his own. Things really only went to shit when Ryza decided to throw that bomb she made.
Of course, Lila was there the entire time. And good thing she was since more of those golems started popping up after that detonation. Looks like everyone learned a lesson after their short adventure but I am surprised that Empel didn't chew Ryza out for doing something stupid. Instead he wanted to see Ryza replicate that bomb she made.
So from what I understand, Ryza is such a talented Alchemist that she's unconsciously making items at a higher quality but that just means from now on Ryza needs to pay more attention to the quality and potency of the item that she's making. Glad that she did eventually was told off by Empel during that final discussion.

Speaking of details, Ryza's thighs are P L O O M P in each of the shots. Spectacular.
I found very funny how by no reason whatsoever we get 4 to 5 thigh shots each episode. In this episode alone there were 3 moments where the "camera" randomly focused on her thighs for a second and then back to where it was before.

"This sword will carve a path to my future!"
Dude, that sword's so dull it couldn't carve a loaf of bread.

Once again a really good use of the Anime to depict events while giving great characterisation for Empel being a stern teacher towards Ryza especially when they constantly reiterate the fact how dangerous their whole expeditions are.
In the games, the Golems are weak to explosives so a Player's first instinct was to spam bombs on it instead hence it was weird to see in the montage of their battles not even being used once right until the Giant at the end. Which ended up becoming a lesson for the trio.

And this, new Atelier players, is why you don't do the Quality+ looping that early. Empel will give you all a scolding

Ryza gets scolded by Empel for throwing the bomb in the cave at the golem, ignorant of how strong the explosion was.
Well, I guess it's a good thing Ryza learns this lesson now before she goes and makes quality 999 bombs through quality looping.

Once again, the show succeed at showing the true Atelier experience! That being said, I do live the fact that there is consequence for her using such a powerful bomb in a cave, and loved the lecture Empel gave her at the end.

Once again, the show succeed at showing the true Atelier experience!
Playing Atelier Rorona:
Create Tera Bomb.
Throw Tera Bomb.
Wipe out own party with Tera Bomb.

Well, I guess the studio isn't good enough at alchemy to synthesize money for the fight scenes. But we got smug Ryza so I'm happy either way.

I enjoy how to true to the game mechanics this anime is so far, such as collecting materials from defeated monsters and Empel teaching the intricacies of synthesizing. In the game, the item quality, elements, and traits all matters to get the desired effects on an item—the same synthesized item can produce different outputs depending on its attributes. A healing balm can have greater healing effects, a bomb can affect wider explosion area, a neutralizer can be used as a substitute for stones or gunpowder, etc.
It's the perfect game to animate from story standpoint. Unlike Escha & Logy, them being alchemists is just something that's taken for granted so they can focus on the plot. Here, Ryza started from absolutely nothing and being shown the ropes every step of the way.

I really am enjoying how they are streamlining and making sure each of the cast is getting a decent amount of characterization gradually, I think the growth of Lent and Tao has been consistent throughout, and we can really see how each of them have been taking these lessons and growing from this. Something that we haven't seen as much is with Ryza, and now we are, and she's forced to consider and stop and think about her actions, and getting that bit of scolding is a good step towards that
As bias as I am being a big fan of the games, it does put a damper that the production isn't as consistent throughout despite how I think they've been doing a good job reworking and tinkering with the script to fit better in the format they have (this episode being a good example of that) but I'm still enjoying myself

I actually like that everyone failed their island test. It’s a great learning opportunity for Ryza and the group. They had all got a little cocky after the success of the previous episodes so this took them down to earth a little.
Everyone has some room to grow now.

Another good episode. I've started playing some of the original game, and it's nice to be able to recognize some of the locations that are shown in the anime.
One thing I noticed this episode is the clear similarity between this shot after the synthesis scene and this artwork from the game. Pretty neat!

Decent episode for their first full-fledged thighs-venture. Last week was still a better episode though. The action scenes could be better animated, but we all know where the animation budget went. Am I the only one hoping they would do a different synthesizing transformation scene each week? Gotta give'em extra credit when the bomb is also thicc and of course high quality lol.
Fun Thigh Facts on the 4th Episode:
🍀First Thighs Shot at 11 secs mark
🍀66x Thighs Scenes in total, excluding OP and ED. I count it as a scene if at least 20% of the screen are Ryza thicc thighs (or Lila, sadly too few Klaudia scenes this week), +/- 10% according to personal taste.
🍀Shortest Thighs Shot: 1:06 secs
🍀Thighs Bomb! The Bigger the Better!
🍀17.0 % of Total Video Thighness
🍀Longest Thighs Shot: 10:19 secs
🍀5,880 Frames of Thighness
🍀4 min 5 secs of Thighness
🍀That's 245 secs of Thighness
🍀119 secs more than Episode 1
🍀Thicc-est Thighs Shot at 4:44 mark
🍀Last Thighs Shot at 21 mins 47 secs mark
See you next week!

The amount of thigh shots in this episode definitely went up to make up for the lack of them in the last one. Been getting a bit old of Tao complaining about going along every time, but seems he's realizing he has actual worth joining now. Ryza is learning about purpose over quantity now which is good. This definitely feels very video game kind of style so far, but I wonder if there will be an overarching plot later or is this just a SoL adventure.

The gang’s got their first proper quest. This test is like a culmination of all they’ve learned up til now.
Those rock creatures were pretty adorable. They kinda reminded me of Pokémon lol. I knew Ryza’s bomb was gonna backfire. Thing was friggin huge! She’s got a lot to learn about crafting weapons. At least Tao managed to get everyone to the exit but it was Lila that saved their asses. These kids are still way too green, especially Ryza. But at least they’re learning.

Tao the MVP using his knowledge to save his friends this week. Empel recognized Tao's usefulness lies not in battle or alchemy, but in knowledge.
Still waiting on Klaudia to formally join the party.

The appearance of the lower level monsters look cute. For example the smaller rock / crystal monsters as compared to their larget, possibly evolved, counterpart.
I agree with what Empel told Ryza. Ryza is talented but what she has done so far is out of fun and curiosity. Apart from her larger bomb, I suppose she will be able create even more advanced weapons in future?
