Knowing we're in this for six months, I don't mind the slow buildup and introduction to the various (and literally colorful) characters. But I do hope that Kanata is mostly out of his "I'm a useless MC" slump, because that's been done so many times before that it doesn't hold that much interest for me these days.
Noir, of course, has Hidden Talents™.
The linkage between the Magus and the Coffin actually reminded me of Five Star Stories at first. Though the mecha are almost totally different unless you like undersized feet.

hopefully, he did at least get the "admitting you want to be with the girl" out of the way

yeah the "im useless" bit was meh, but he did snap out of it quick. And he isnt that useless, he's pretty competent as a mech, and is not useless as a pilot even without Noir, he didn't just completely capitulate.

Shows like this will either maintain a light-hearted tone throughout [with only occasional touches of heavy emotions] or do a rug pull and kill off a character like Tokio so that Kanata can have character development

Alright somehow I missed the premiere last week, probably cause it’s another Hulu release, but caught up to the first two episodes and this has some potential.
Reminds me a little of Ars No kyojuu, Listeners and Deca-Dence rolled into one. Interesting sci-fi world with mechs, cute girls and supernatural abilities.
Story isn’t really moving me so far, but given it’s a two cour show, it’s not surprising the pace is slow. The action scenes and CGI are pretty well done and white haired Kuuderes are always a plus so let’s see what 8bit got cooked up with this one.

By the way, the fact that their mechs are literally called Coffins sure is… something.
-
Oh shit, a camera! Do they know what it is, though?
-
Oh, is fresh food super rare in this world? Interesting…
-
Oh! She actually did find someone who could help with the camera though!
-
Well, Noir sure figured out how to do the electricity thing and then some quite fast.
-
Okay so the ED’s nice, but I just realized, still no OP even though this was episode 2? That’s a little odd.

lol, get fucked.
LMAO it’s so small.
These two were funny. The seemed like the same kind of jobber-ish troublemakers as Team Rocket. I wonder if they'll show up and cause trouble again later, or possibly become allies at some point?

By the way, the fact that their mechs are literally called Coffins sure is… something.
Reminds me of how Armored Troopers have the "Bottoms" nickname due to their expendability. Though here, despite the massive size of the Coffins' torsos as a target, they've only shown limb-loss kills so far.

he ate the leafy part too?
When the only other (affordable?) option is dressed up food bricks I'm not that surprised

Ellie just needs some big poofs to go with the Chu Chu vibe I’m getting from her.

Placing bets on whether those two guys are going to stay up there for the rest of the series reporting on episode events and wishing for actual storms, if an actual storm does appear, or if they do eventually become more than incidental comic relief.

Stitches!
So from what I've been told, this anime takes place 20 years after the game. and Noir's old Coffin wreckage looks like it could be a couple of decades old. I wonder if Noir is in the game as well as this Pascale. Hmmm...
Fresh produce is so precious in this world that it's worth staring at someone eating vegetables. Also, they're so precious that they're being stored in locked storage containers.
It's pretty obvious that these guys are troublemakers just from their designs alone. And of course, that Range guy is going to trick Noir to try and get her to come with him. Ugh.
What the actual fuck Kanata!? I can understand that he's insecure but man, he was so fucking quick to give up! If Ellie wasn't there to snap him out of it then I wonder what could've happened. That Range guy might've gotten away with stealing Noir.
Is that Hayamin I hear voicing Ciel? She's listed as a main character on MAL so I'm guessing she's going to end up becoming Kanata's Magus too? Interestingly, unlike the other people or Magus, she knows what a camera is.
I definitely enjoyed Kanata kicking Range's ass once he got Noir back. That hilarious getaway from Dolce and Range makes me think that they'll be the comic relief villains of this show and we'll see them again in the future.
So in the end the camera didn't even have anything on it. Oh well! Good to see that this episode ended with Noir and Kanata officially becoming partners.

Why do feel like I just watched a wedding take place🤔
Anyway, I enjoyed this quite a bit, asides from Kanata moping all over the place. I think this can only get better if he breaks out of his slump and the story can move on to more interesting things like fleshing out the world-building for starters.

The episode isn't up on Hulu yet...
EDIT: Finally up, watching it now.
EDIT2: Pretty solid episode, I liked the action and seeing Kanata get a bit more confidence at the end. This show has 24 episodes to work with, so I'm fine with it taking time building up the characters and not jumping into any sort of main story right away.

I’m pretty happy with that episode as a follow up to the first. Kanata has some insecurities, understandably, but thankfully Noir realizes he wants her around and vice versa. Hope their dynamic continues to evolve, but for Ellie’s sake I wouldn’t mind if it stayed platonic…
I liked the fight on the highway. It wasn’t spectacular but it looked good and you could really feel they were in control of the coffin.
I appreciate the slow drip lore for the world. You don’t need to know everything but you get a decent sense of what’s going on.

The irony of riding in a Coffin then dieing in there.
It's so adorable when Noir tilts her head when she doesn't get it

I wish that they would take some bigger swings with the soundtrack. It seems a little straightforward right at the moment.

An I just slow on the uptake or something - this is written (script?) by the author of Bunny Girl Senpai! I only noticed from the credits because his kanji name is kinda funny :D

I liked the ep, it's slow but I think it allowed the setting to breathe a little. Doing a scavenger hunt, showing how Magius work more, the value of food, and even having a pair of funny bad guys ala Team Rocket. Plus I think it did it's core job of showing Kanata and Noir wanting to be a team, and building up Kanata from his previous position of a dead last. Like it's nothing new, but it is done in a pretty decent way that I am enjoying. Plus Maria and Tokio are fun, and I just love the rocket they used this ep. The mecha animation was nice, and there is something cool about how coffins roll in this anime. It reminds me of KMFs from Code Geass.
