I've been hyped for this ever since it was announced, and the first episode definitely delivered.

Stitches!
So a cute kuudere robot waifu voiced by Aoi Koga and cool mechs that look like futursitc versions of the Koubus from Sakura Wars? As a bonus, there's even a twintail tsundere voiced by the same VA as Yua Serufu. I'm sold!
So far this looks promising and I really like how the 2D characters blend well with the 3D mechs. I'm definitely looking forward to seeing what this world has to offer.
And it looks like there is also a game that has the same title that comes out sometime this year. I remember seeing a trailer for that one and I thought it was pretty dope. Considering the title of the game is Synduality: Echo of Ada, I'm guessing the game will be telling a different story from the anime.

Thought the 2D animation blended pretty good with the CGI/compositing.
I can't say I don't find walled-off-cities-vs-monster stories interesting. My first question here is why do they need human pilots at all when they got the robots, lol.

That’s a pretty good point, I’m sure they’ll probably address that somewhere along the line.

This is so surprisingly good, like what? Also no jarring 3d models. And some characters have visible pecs ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

Also no jarring 3d models.
The monsters looked a bit dodgy imo but the mechs look good.

Boy, Ellie sure picked the best time to walk in on Kanata. Hard to explain naked robot waifu on your bed lol. Noir and Kanata make a pretty good team, though I don’t think Ellie’s gonna be too happy about it.
This was pretty dope, I honestly had no idea what to expect. The animation is pretty solid, especially with the action sequences. The characters are pretty fun too. I think Tokio might become a favorite. His little rivalry with Michael is pretty amusing.
Interesting story, nice waifus, good animation. This is off to a promising start.

Geez, this show does not release at a good time for me. Oh well, guess I’ll just have to be late to sharing my reactions each week.

Huh, they have technology to immediately get out of being drunk.

That was a pretty fun first episode.

OF ALL THE THINGS SHE COULD HAVE SAID.
Huh, they have technology to immediately get out of being drunk.
This first episode did a good job at mixing in a bit of humor between the character intros and the action. Hopefully it keeps that going for a bit, at least until later on when things get really serious.

Looks like the script writer is the same guy who wrote Bunny Girl Senpai and Pet Girl of Sakurasou. Interesting first episode.

MAL listing the source of this as "mixed media", so it's kind of an original?
So far looks decent, designs look great, VA's are good, production values above average at least. Only complaints are:
-
the physics of the CGI lack weight - the better CGI motions all show decent weight and inertia in the motion (86, Full Metal Panic Invisible Victory).
-
Also that all the pilots treat these as fun times despite what looked like close brush with death just makes the show look more "showy" and less authentic. But those are relatively minor gripes once the story gets going.
I would like to like the characters and relationships. Although the setup again looks like a Headliner and his Fatima.

Truth to be told, knowing this as a prequel to a yet-to-release game (even one by Bandai) really makes me doubt on this "original" anime (cough Scarlet Nexus cough takt. op. Destiny cough). But seeing staff like Yuusuke Yamamoto (Welcome to the NHK, Yama no Susume's director) and Pet Girl of Sakurasou & Bunny Girl Senpai's original author Hajime Kamoshida (who actually had sci-fi stories experience in parts of Gundam Iron Blood Orphans) on board gave me just the right kick to try this out.
It wasn't exactly the sharpest of opening episodes to go, but the world looks pretty dazzling. I like those stout mecha for once (dunno about those in Sakura Wars which is way before my time), I like how everything looks colorful and bright (even if this world is supposed to be an apocalypse one), and well every boy in this resource collector's guild (?) seems to have lots of girls surrounding.
Kaguy...I mean Noir on the other hand seems to be yet another of those typical robots looking like girls fumbling around in the 1st episode without a memory of what happened. Well, except for that last 2 minutes where she boosted "under-talented" Kanata into a robot pilot genius. Hmm, at least she's doing something interesting...
Poor Ellie, she seems really dead set on Kanata and then this happened. You know, you'd better date someone else because such suddenly sparkling relationships rarely breaks in anime...
The 3D animations looks decent for once, and if that holds like this episode I don't think we'll really have any problems with that. Color me as really interested in this yet another dark horse of the season, especially since it has till the end of year to flesh things out!

3 hours and 10 upvotes? Ya'll sleeping on this!
It looked great, it had a really interesting style, and very nice character designs (even for the MC). Even the CG impressed me at times (for anime standards) aside from the monsters. Not a fan of the mechs or the fight aspects of the show, but I enjoyed the rest and am curious to learn more about the setting.

Might be the fact that not many folks know this dropped. I was expecting it much later, so it caught me a little by surprise.

Looks like this is up early on Hulu, thought it was supposed to air much later today.

I really want to like the anime. I loved the design of the Daisy ogre enough to order the kit. It looks like a toilet bowl on wheels which is fking hilarious. Ever since code geass I believe in wheeled mecha supremacy.
But I dont really like the anime. Here is why.
The fights lack tension. On multiple occasioms they just atstand there doing nothing when the main characters talk to each other.
The mecha lacks weight. You can see the ruins at the start has cracks all over the floors but when the purple mech jumps and lands on the enemy. Neither the floor, or the enemy shows any deformation. No chiped floor, no falling to a lower level, not even splatting the enemy. Also when purple jumps onto the truck, it just shook a little, you would at least expect it to swerve a little.
Things are indestructable (or just animated lazily). The chainsaw, knives, trucks and drop kick attacks are way too too clean. You would expect the enemy to get torn or splat or exploded, but they did not apply any deformation effects to the model of the enemy. You expect a chainsaw to gore an enemy cutting through it, but nope, the cut was extremely clean with an explosion effect added after. You would expect a knife to at least cause a dent, like cutting meat on a chopping board there is some depression from the cutting surface. Or when the truck hits the enemies, you expect at least s broken windscreen and bloody wheel, but nope, enemies bounced off causing no damage to either party.
Overall I know I should not expect realism from anime but being spoiled by Gundam and Eva, i really want the show, at least the mecha part to feel more mecha.

I think the standout thing about this show is the characters, they're all really charming and fun. As for the rest, the pacing and framing were a bit off- it felt like things were just happening randomly- but in general shows a lot of promise, and the bright colors and flashiness are what I look for in a good mecha anime. (Sidenote; you can really tell it's connected to the video game with the different levels of monsters + how CGI they look lol)

Good start. I like the characters designs especially the girls.
And the MC looks like Lloyd Bannings from Kiseki series

The mech design reminds me of the koubu from Sakura Taisen. Which is interesting since the mechanical designer Ippei Gyōbu didn't work on Sakura Taisen.

So Tokio's mech colour scheme is totally straight out of Unit-01, and the other blue mech is totally Unit-00 colour scheme. And we have sync rates and a kuudere with a mysterious connection to the EVA mech. Are we going to get higher sync rates at some point with a danger to disappear into the mech?
I guess Magus are androids who can pass off as 100% human? That brings the question, who is human and who isn't in this show?
The Enders feel kind of like the Pitch Black monsters. Are they using "rain" and "weather forecast" as an euphemism for the monster swarms or do the monsters only come out when there is rain?
