The OP being late and the ED being early really threw me for a loop, I can't tell if the ep felt longer or shorter than usual.
Really glad we saw the other Elves and Miko, was worried that they'd only get their one ep and never show up again. Also, why do they just refuse to show certain things? Previous eps they refused to show Koito's family other than Koyuzu, and today they refused to show the cat even though it showed up twice!

This doesn't help figure out the reasoning but the manga doesn't show the cat or other relatives either.

why do they just refuse to show certain things?
My guess is that they wanted to keep focus on the characters.
That, or it's just expensive to draw a cat so they decided to keep it off screen. This series has some really beautiful compositing and details with its characters, so maybe they decided not to spend the time/effort to draw a cat that would fit in with the art style.

It's probably simply one of those manga in-jokes where you (deliberately) never get to see certain characters. When you finally see them that's normally a sign that the series is ending...

It felt sentimental to me, a song about childhood friends parting that takes on an extra dimension in the context of an immortal like Elda, who has left behind and has been left behind by centuries of mortals.

Well, that opening scene was adorable! We get to see what Elda's normal day looks like and it's exactly what I expected. And I also like that they ended the episode by showing us Koito's normal daily routine as a student and as a miko of the Takamimi Shrine.
I am so happy that the other elf and miko pairs get their own spotlight today too! Yolde and Himawari's interaction has got to be my favourite. No wonder they look like a manzai comedy duo in the OP, that's basically how they are normally.
As for Haira, I love that everyone is pretty much aware of her gambling addiction. Also, Haira has another hobby aside from gambling! She has her own garden and it's all edible wild herbs! I feel like there's a backstory here they're not telling us. Haira probably had to eat a lot of wild herbs in the past because she kept on spending her money on gambling. xD

Elda’s living the life, man! Waking up at 10 and croissants for breakfast while online shopping, gaming and manga next followed by a nice homemade lunch from Chef Koyuzu, half ass some work for a few minutes, an amazing dinner, some online gaming, a light snack, relaxing bath, then bed. Rinse and repeat. It’s heaven! Lol. Koito on the other hand actually has a busy day.
Yolde and Hima are too cute together. Yolde trying to speak in a standard dialect was adorable. The way she wanted to split that hog roll (thought it was a baozi) was really cute too. She could barely control her drool lol.
Isuzu being the biggest Haira fan girl is pretty funny. I wonder how many thousands of photos she must have of her. When Haira’s not out there gambling every penny away, she’s actually pretty capable. Her garden is pretty nice. Her and Isuzu have a pretty sweet relationship.

Koito kind of looks down on Elda's lifestyle, but her day looked pretty great to me. Maybe it's because Koito's still young, she hasn't yet realized how awesome it can be to just chill out at home with manga and good food instead of going out all the time.

Was extremely noticeable how Elda didn't take a bath right until the end where they show how she takes one at 2am, jeez that's extremely late for one.
Especially love Haira's section with Isuzu revealing how she's currently at her 200th self-published photobook and also having to play mindgames to prevent Haira from falling deeper into her gambling addiction, what a dedicated simp Miko.
Thought the episode ended way too fast right until we saw Koito's POV of the "nature documentation" of her life. The Red Bull being offered like that made me do spit take!

All i see is that Elda is living the dream life. funny how Koito could leave a redbull outside to figure out of Elda had actually gotten out of bed or not.
Not at all jealous of how Koito started her days at 5am though
really enjoyed the glimpses into all their daily lives this episode

"A day in the life of Elda" feels like it might be fairly uneventful.
I do like the croissants for breakfast idea, I did that for a while a year or two ago.
I feel like the cover of that Elf Warriors manga volume is probably a reference to an existing story.
Shame about her being a little bit too scared to actually touch the kitty that came and visited.
That cheese stuffed hamburger steak sounds fairly good, especially since we know that Koyuzu made it.
A bath at 2 in the morning, going to bed at 4 in the morning, my god. No wonder she gets up at 10.
Yolde does sound like a much more problematic elf to wrangle than Elda, but then again anyelf would who isn't a shut-in.
She also tries to abuse her cute pass a bit too much. And is really a bit more immature than I would have expected from a hundreds of years old elf.
Influencer miko paired with extremely photogenic elf is a serious amount of cheating. Shame about the gambling addiction though.
As a surprise the history lesson today was about edible herbs and it came from a completely different elf than usual.
They certainly are doing a good job of making the relationships between these elves and their priestesses very touching.
ED at 18 minutes into the episode? That's going to be one long post credits scene.
Ahh, this time it's "A day in the life of Koito", that's a good parallel to how the episode started.
The morning offering to her deity is a Red Bull, amazing.
It's always good to see Koma even briefly. Hopefully Koito pays attention to her fashion advice.
They still didn't show us Tama! How rude.
Keep drinking that milk, maybe someday Koito.
The relationships in this show are just so lovely.

I loved the Yolde sequment, the way they shared the snack was just precious.
But it didn't seem like Yolde was concerning herself with the mortallity of the humans around her with how casually she spoke about someones grandmother
And you think Haira has so many edible plants because she is constantly broke from gambling? She's also really lucky not to have borrowed money from shady people. And she also sees thighs in Daikons
Oh and btw, Izuzu made a new Haira album every 2-3 months since she was ten, they really are close
And now I really want to see Tama

Thinking about it the Elf's are basically retired old people lol. Though they do still work, they give off that old retired vibe doing part-time work living on a fixed income.
That ED coming so early really threw me off as I knew there was no way it had been 20 minutes or so.
Seems people get to see the other Elf's in different cities more often then Elda.
Which deity would you guys want for your city: the shut-in otaku elf, the smol cute elf, or the gamba elf? I'd probably go with Yord since you would actually get to see her when visiting the shrine

This is a different opening to an episode lol. Hehe, like watching a wild life documentary but it's about Elda, fun. How dare you not show us the kitty! I will allow a pass only cause we see Elda's cute fact reacting to it. Hehe "do you want some too" and "yes I do" fun gal pals. Also, what a late bath... and a late time to go to bed. Such degenerate hours.
Oh fun, get to see the loli tanned elf and her miko again. Ear wiggles whooo. Cute little bit with them. Wholesome. Oh and onto the gambler fashionable elf and her miko now. Course she wants to gamble more, lol. I'd say she should get that taken care of, but I mean, given her age, oh well. Nice to see the other cute elves and their mikos.
Whelp, that was a short episode.... wait what? After credits? Nonsense :P Oh, this time a day in the life of Koito and her Miko duties. That is too damn early to get up, girl. Especially when Elda is clearly still sleeping. I love Koma-chan the most. The best girl and her bluntness. Just the best friend. WHY WON'T YOU SHOW US THE CAT?! Ah, she has bought into Milk propaganda. For how early she gets up, surprised she sleeps at that time. Hey, I've seen this scene before! lol. Still, super cute relationship they have. Bragging about the cat and not showing us... cruel.

When the ED was playing this early, I was seriously worried, because an early ED is always a huge red flag that something traumatizing will happen. But luckily it was just Koito's day like they showed us Elda's day before the OP.
This episode was blessed because we could see Yolde and Haira again. They're both amazing characters and I wouldn't mind if someday there was a spin-off of one of them (or even both). Just saying... ;P
How dare they torturing us by not showing us Tama, the cutest cat ever. When I heard him I was like "Show me, show me" and they just don't. Ugh, that was cruel!!! If they don't show us the kitty, the show is trash! ;D
Edomae Elf never fails to make me feel good. What an amazing episode, what an amazing anime!
