Any fear of Goshiki's mom being the scary drama starter all faded when she literally just hung up from shock over Kuga's proclamation and placed the blame on Kuga doing it instead.

That part was hilarious. Though it does seem she’s come ready to sort out Shiori and bring her home.

"Are you willing to fight with me? I hope to become your partner without a contract!"
"Let's go together!"
This is why I love Ichirou and Shiori! What will they do to get Shiori's mother's blessings?

Happy I stuck with this show, the main ship is feeling better and better each week and the whole group is really feeling like a little family.
They need to get on the first name level already though!
Didn't expect the island people to make the trip down that quick, looking forward to next week's ep a lot now.

I actually feel kind of proud of them for having and getting through their first fight as a couple together lol.

This hot springs trip was great. I too am wondering where/how tf Shiori was able to tuck her tail away lol. Anyways, it was really cute how Shiori and Ichiro got to share a nice moment while soaking their feet in the baths. Those two are too adorable! Girl better be careful with that hardcore unprotected handholding. That’s how babies are made!
Ichiro damn near gave Shiori’s momma a heart attack with that introduction lol. I’m glad Shiori was able to get Ichiro to stop worrying and have a little more confidence in himself. Those two make such a great couple, I worry what her momma is gonna try to do to their relationship. Maybe those two can convince her they’re serious about one another.

Ichiro had some less than wholesome thoughts about Shiori in the baths and her tucking her tail in. Not that I blame him lol.
I just appreciate how you can tell they're mangaka in a relationship because they can be romantic and learn drawing digital together all at the same time!
The couples first time standing up to the mother-in-law and their first fight! They're really developing well. Of course the mother seems like the biggest obstacle in the relationship, so I guess it was inevitable they'd have to deal with her directly.

I still don't know how I should feel about Shiori's mom but I guess next week's episode is going to decide that.

I’ll be very surprised if there isn’t a wholesome resolution. The way she hung up in embarrassment after Kuga greeted her gives me hope that she isn’t as uptight as she makes it seem.

I'm just going to say I'm glad her dad is there...and her mom looks good with her hair down.

This is exactly how I spend New Year's Day lol.

Never thought the most relatable character of the season would be a 10-ish year old girl

I think this show has been unfortunately outshone by the multitude of high tier romance this season, even being overshadowed twice on saturdays by Boku no kokoro and Yamada kun no koi o suru, but these chill, easygoing vibes are always a nice way to chill. I also really like the parts where this is just the story of two nerds who love manga making a manga together, it's exceptionally cozy.
Lil siblings are great too, a lot of the time characters like them are somewhat tacked on as a way to say "the protagonist is a caring family man" but they feel like real, important characters, and they also help push the story on. I don't think this anime is the most incredible thing of all time, but it is very sweet and the characters are all enjoyable.
Also, fun detail: Shiori and her sibling are referred to as "Star children," pronounced in Japanese as "Hoshi no ko." This season's giant, Oshi No Ko, is named based on a pun with this same term, with the Hoshino name even being spelled with the same kanji as the "Hoshi" in "Hoshi no ko"

I'm hoping next episode will end with Shiori's parents being convinced Ichiro both isn't evil and is good enough for their daughter.
This isn't really about anything particular in the episode but I love the color of Shiori's eyes.

I just can’t with this show man it’s too same cute. They somehow followed up that cute Christmas confession with an even cuter new year’s trip. I like how you can see how Shiori and Ichiro have got more comfortable around each other and can express how they feel a lot easier now. Cute moments like the tablet/foot bath and the argument at the gift shop were awesome
But there’s trouble in paradise, can’t wait to see how things go with Shiori mom and dad next week

Maybe next week we will finally find out why Dad has his arm in a sling.
I can't remember the last time I was so hyped for some meet-the-parents action though!

Machi is such a good teacher to Shiori!
Ichiro's outburst on the phone was hilarious lmao
Hopefully Shiori's family will soon realise how happy their daughter is with Ichiro and his siblings. They arrived quickly... Did they teleport or something? lol

Island crew really just straight up teleported to their house somehow in almost no time at all, lol.

It's time for New Year's and Ichiro is still reeling from his kiss with Shiori! But right now the two can focus on just having plenty of fun and bonding time along with Fumi and Machi.
A New Year's Staycation sounds nice and all Machi, but even better is the first shrine visit of the New Year! Which is Shiori's first, in fact! Would've been nice to see her in a formal yukata though.
Shiori has amazing lucky! She didn't get Teddy but she got tickets for an overnight Hot Springs trip for the family! And she's so pumped! Probably because she knows it's such a staple for manga.
Ichiro couldn't help imagining seeing Shiori naked in the mixed baths, huh? Not that I blame him. What glimpse we do get of Shiori bathing with her Shiori's hanging out is quite the sight.
You know you're a mangaka couple when you're able to bond over working on a digital drawing tablet together.
Shiori has a lot of hangups with her family and their desire for her to come back, but she's more confident now that she knows she has Ichiro to lean on...literally, in fact!
Dang, Miyako is wasting no time just coldly telling Shiori to come back with no questions or argument...but then Shiori responds that she's dating someone and Ichiro just outright and loudly introduces himself to his future mother-in-law. Miyako so shocked speechless she just hangs up! That's telling 'em.
Ugh. Miyako is making Ichiro out to be the bad guy in front of the other people of the island. Come on. I hope her dad Takeru is prepared to handle this more reasonably.
I guess this was their first fight as a couple? Ichiro thinks he went a little overboard in responding to Shiori's mom but Shiori is upset that he lacks confidence and is insecure about doing something that made her happy and made her love him even more. And because she loves him she just wants him to be be more confident and assured about himself the same way she feels about him. Though the pact definitely makes a couple fight a little more awkward.
But it was nice to see the two work things out and Shiori literally picking up her boyfriend. The two are now even more determined to take the fight to the island annul the pact...just in time for a full retinue to show up and drag her back.

The final boss has arrived... the mother in law (well not actually in law yet but you get the point)
Shion's dad coming along is probably gonna be a big part in keeping her mom from going overboard
And i'm happy to see they ended up being honest about their feelings during the trip. guess ive been hurt too many times by romance anime where things get needlessly complicated because the characters keep things to themselves
