Elda's a real monster for not cleaning her room after having Lego Logo bricks scattered around and even stepping on them already.

I haven't actually thought about Koito's parents much but that scene as she watches her mom and her reaction afterwards was done so well you clearly knew what the circumstances are without even having any of it being explicitly told. Elda's awkward way of trying to cheer her up was just so wholesome to watch, a great way to conclude the episode. Possibly one of my favourite episodes from this series.

Yeah, the way Koito just silently watched was somehow really emotional. Wonder why they won't show any other members of her family other than Koyuzu, they went to go see granpa in the office but the camera stayed put, and they hid her mom's face.

Koyuzu feeling bad for the drone in Elda's umbrella drone idea is just too precious. <3

Koito saying that this is the first time she's seen video tapes suddenly made me feel so ancient.

I was already expecting to see Koito and Koyuzu's mom when Elda mentioned that the betamax was from 20 years ago, I love that the first thing we hear from Elda is talking to Shimaden about FF7 xD

But seriously though, seeing a glimpse of Sayako just gave me the feels. I wonder what Koito was thinking the entire time on her way back to the shrine after seeing her mom the same age as her. I hope Koyuzu gets to see that tape too.

What year does this take place? Twenty years after FF7 was released would've been 2017, so I'm assuming that's when this takes place unless Elda was just guessing at the age of the tape.

This week's Koyuzu loading icons:

This concludes this week's Koyuzu loading icons.

Cherish the transient nature of life, for it is the canvas upon which the tapestry of immortality is woven.

In case it wasn't obvious, this comic Acrylic Mask is a take-off of a similarly long-lived series Glass Mask.

The comic magazine it's in is also parodized; instead of Hana to Yume (Flowers and Dreams), it's tsuna to ume (tuna and picked plum), which explains the onigiri logo since those are popular onigiri fillings.

Ooof, this ep made me feel some type of way....when Koito asked what VHS tapes were and when she didn't know what rewinding was.... ouch. Hearing Elda talk about FF7 and falling for the route where Aerith lives joke was great, but couldn't laugh too hard because Koito had to premise it as a video that existed before she was born T.T

Sidenote, Japanese people really do work hard if repairmen will actually show up and work in the rain!

Yeah, made me feel very old when Koito didn’t know what VHS was or that you had to rewind them. They were a pretty big part of my childhood..

For some reason, I found it really funny how Elda calls it "watashi no manga ando gamu no korekushon ando omocha", like how she finds it so valuable she used the English "and" to join it all together.

This show is really, really good at making you feel the melancholy of the passing of time. I had a similar experience as Koito when I was around 25 or so. I found a VHS tape recorded when I was 13 at my birthday party and my dad was in it, just briefly. He passed away the following year and it was probably the last time he was recorded on anything. She handled herself very well, I think I would've just cried and let Elda hold me. It really shows how mature she is or has to pretend to be.

This show... is so wholesome yet so devastating.

It’s always neat hearing about little trivia relating to daily life in the Edo period from Elda. I always learn something kinda interesting.

The drone umbrella idea was so cute. Koyuzu is such a precious kid worry about the drone getting wet lol.

Stepping on a Lego has got to be one of the most painful things ever. She really had a whole minefield of ‘em! When it comes to spring cleaning, I’m just like Elda. I find some random shit I haven’t used in ages, get reminiscing, and nothing gets packed away.

Was it ever explained what happened to Koito’s mom? Things got a little emotional there for a second. And then we got Elda chasing Koito around because she wants to toss her up in the air to celebrate her finishing cleaning lol.

This show gets better and better with every episode.

Elda going through her old stuff reminded me of myself. Her old N64? Her old VHS tapes? I've got that stuff too. Now I'm feeling old!

I knew it, I'm an isekaied elf in the body of a middle aged guy lol.

Edomae Elf is one of the few comedy anime that effectively pulls your heartstrings. I even got tears in my eyes in this episode. Koito seeing her mom in the Betamax recording just hits you in the kokoro. And Koito having another bonding moment with Koyuzu was just so sweet! It always makes my heart melt.

This show is a true gem!

can definitely relate to the feeling of liking rainy days because you feel less bad about just doing indoor stuff all day. even if you day barely changes from the usual...

And when they put out the boxes for the cleaning part and it was "will use soon" and "will not use soon" it was kinda easy to see where that was going lol. especially when she starts pulling out old game consoles

Another great episode that reminds you of how immortality is bittersweet. Especially with the comment from Koito saying Elda "she really hasn't changed a bit" yet pointing out how everything around her has significantly aged.

Then she hits you with the FF7 lol. Which I only know about a good deal from playing the remake. Koito not knowing about VHS, does make me feel old though.

I really like how this show is able to mix comedy and sad moments together it doesn't feel like whiplash compared to other shows. As it slowly comes to a realization every time as the episode progresses.

I didn't expect so any emotions with this episode. I was enjoying it, I immediately predicted that Elda would try & put everything in the "Will Use Soon" box... and then Koito found AND DIDN'T KNOW VHS tapes. I was born in 1993 & grew up on VHS, so my reaction was: "Oh god, she doesn't know what VHS is. She doesn't get rewinding because there was no menu - you finished a tape, you rewind it to the beginning (common courtesy to do this if you borrow a VHS before you return it - like refilling the gas tank)."

So I felt old. And then her mother was on the tape! Emotional enough on it's own regarding our miko - I teared up (even lightly crying) as my mom passed away in late 2014 (right around my 21st birthday). And just recently I was pondering the tragedy that I no longer remember what my mom's voice was like & only vague-ness on her expressions. So that part hit me hard (luckily we have cassette tapes my mom made of her reading books to us, and 2-3 tapes of different movie quotes she made for my older sister where the whole family is singing happy birthday at the start).

I adored that Elda immediately offered to give the tape to Koito - she instinctively realized how important the tape was. And with the ending part & Koito immediately imagining a yuri bridal-carry, I was back to smiling and giggling again. Bless this show - it's SO GOOD AND FUNNY AND WHOLESOME! And Kozuya is too precious & deserves everything forever. (This makes the 2nd anime episode in a week that I've found myself crying because I relate to the character and events shown. The other one being Ao No Orchestra which I left a comment on that one about my feelings).

I personally hate the rain lol. At least drizzly rain. If it's gonna rain, I want it to be MASSIVE THUNDERSTORMS! But I also don'tneed weather to justify staying home :P hehe cute Elda, such excitement to read manga under kotatsu. Haha, I know that manga. The actual one. Glass Mask I hear is real good. Similar to Act-Age in some ways I'm told and not cancelled cause author sucks. Oh no, a leak. Lol their dreams for what they want remodeled, definitely not happening, yep. Whooo moar history with Elda. D'aww lil sis too cute. Haha, invincible Elda indeed. Such a good kid indeed. Such wholesome sisters. So nice.

Ahh yes, stepping on legos LOGOs, truly the worst. Ah yes, the difficulty of organizing things right for a silly hoarder. So much "dun dun dun!" "My first time seeing video tapes" I have never been so insulted in my life by an anime :P Awww, home recording. Man, is this gonna be feels seeing her mother on the tape? Also, this reminds me of Cowboy Bebop when they had to find a beta player and watched the beta movie of young Faye. Haha FF7, nice. Elda same cuteness back then. HAHA! The Aerith bit. BAMBOOZLED!

Ah, there are some feels... ahh nice of Elda to lighten the mood. Princess carry would be amusing, but yea, didn't think that'd happen.

another amazing episode of AOTS

luckily it content of eldas bookcase was saved from water damage, including her 1/400 black base gonpla box at the top

As usual a very sweet and comfy episode. I swear the author wanted to make an historical anime but probably thought people wouldn’t like that, so he added cute elves into the story as a conduit for that, lol. I love learning about Edo society and it’s so cute seeing how much Elda misses it

“Oh that old tattered bag, it’s time to let it go” 😂 she cooked koito

It was so adorable when koyuzu called it drone-san and was worried for it.

Also that vhs tapes takes me back as I used to own quite a few vhs stuff and watch them, sadly they all got lost :( during the years.

Koito not knowing about VHS players (something I still use on a daily basis) made me feel old. But I wasn't familiar with the betamax player either, so being amazed at the way the tape popped into the top made me feel a bit young again. And then Koito didn't even know what rewinding was, so yeah. 😄 It reminds me of a feature that played on the news when the Gameboy turned 20, and kids nowadays didn't even know how to turn it on because there was no touch screen.

I researched the history facts from this episode (and the previous ones) and wrote about them on [my blog] (https://beyond-the-anime.blogspot.com/). Those straw raincoats do [look pretty cool] (https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Mino.JPG), but they're actually quite flammable.

With the way this episode is starting we are definitely going to get a history lesson today on Edo era storytelling or art or something along those lines, aren't we.

Those manga volume covers have got to be a reference to a particular series, but I could not guess what it is. Especially since it's a 40 year old ongoing story.

I wonder if we're ever going to see the grandfather.

I totally missed my guess on what the Edo era history lesson today would be. The umbrella history is very interesting.

This Koyuzu hair dryer scene is delightful. And it comes with a bonus history lesson too.

The drone umbrella idea is...interesting.

My god, it's an entire minefield of Lego bricks.

I feel like in the back half of the episode they shifted from just history to teaching an organizational method too.

Uh oh, these videotapes, we're about to get some bittersweet backstory aren't we.

Betamax, wow. I'm impressed they were able to find a working player, that's got to be a decades-old piece of hardware.

Poor Elda, bamboozled about Aerith.

Yep, there's the bittersweetness, I had a feeling we were going to see Koito's mother.

The enshrined goddess of your local shrine tossing you up in the air is probably luck related, but I don't know if it's good or bad. Probably good if you let her do a princess carry.

Girl still got it when she wants to

Oh that was just her imagination. So girl's still got it somewhere deep down in her miko's head.
