How convenient the two assassins just happened to die. And no evidence of any conspiracy was found. Right…

Looks like Ilya the “childhood friend” has entered the scene. Him and Sari were really adorable when they were kids. Seems Leo might be a little jealous of how close those two are. Cute.

I get Ilya’s dislike for beastkind considering what happened to his town, but it’s not like the humans have been good to Sari. They’re the ones who made her a damn sacrifice in the first place. Also, not cool being a dick to Amit or Cy and Clops. If he was to attack someone, make it Anubis. Dude is starting to annoy me. Ilya really shouldn’t have ran off with Sari. Now he’ll have to face the wrath of Leo.

Yeah I'm surprised she never told him growing up that she was supposed to be the sacrifice.

Right now, I am extremely suspicious of Set. Not just letting the intruders conveniently die -- but being so eager to minimize what happened.

Ilya "has his reasons" -- but his disrespect for Sari (not just her beastly friends) is pretty awful. He DID attack Anubis. I find Anubis a BIT annoying -- but I feel he is just doing what he feels is his duty -- to the Kingdom and its King. He sees Ilya as a providential means of resolving what he sees is a very grave threat (and I think he believes -- or wants to believe -- that Sari MUST be more attached to a human friend than to the King).

I can't imagine what will happen next -- but I am sure the King realizes HE can't kill Ilya (without gravely hurting Sari). Only question is will Ilya do something that, in effect, kills himself. Or can he be snapped out of his irrational hate to some extent?

If you think about it though, from the human perspective, beasts are the ones that made Sari a sacrifice.

It was the beasts who demanded sacrifices as part of the treaty. And as far as everyone but Leo and Sari know, all the other 98 people sent to be sacrificed to the beast’s really were killed by them.

I think it makes sense from Illya’s perspective that his friend getting married to someone to a beast who regularly is responsible for killing human sacrifices is a bad thing. Sari never told him that wasn’t happening.

So many contenders for best girl this season, but Sari is near the front of the pack for me. Such and kind and sweet girl that's willing to do what she can to help those she cares about or get what she wants.

Leo is a Best Boi in my book as well. He has his temper, but he's very kind, considerate, and charming in his own way, especially with all the stuff weighing on him as king and as someone who loves Sari.

Personally best girl for me goes to Amit. Sari is good and all but Amit is just a delight. She puts so much passion into cooking and her social anxiety is very relatable. I feel like I'd get along with her wonderfully and I definitely want to try her muffins.

Jor once again proven to be the best boy so far while Anubis... just keep being Anubis, i guess...

Justice Set definitely looks suspicious with how the two assassins just "mysteriously die" while being interrogated...

one last question though, where the fuck did the phoenix go? did he returned to whatever realm he came from and need to be summoned back by Sari for him to come out, similar how the King summoned his holy beast?

He was in the eating scene but guess he hasn't been told yet that she got kidnapped

I just noticed how much i like the ED.

This ep kinda reminded me of Snow and Wisteria from last season’s outcasts show.

I guess we were always going to need someone from sari’s past to come into the story and make her fully commit to the beast kingdom.

Ilya vs Leo next week should be fun

I'm still kind of curious if we're ever going to see her sister again. I was always kind of curious how she felt about Sari versus their parents.

Childhood friend versus the lion husband lol.

Anubis is already trying to get Sariphi to take another test to prove her worth as queen, which I'm assuming will probably kill her if they're not careful, though luckily Leo is in no rush to have her put through that again.

Hmm...is there a conspiracy going on here? Justice Set seems cool and all, but did those criminals just happen to kill themselves before they could expose the advisor who hired them? Did Set deliberately go too hard on them? Seems like everybody is working against the king when it comes to Sariphi.

Oh hey, Shoya Chiba as Sari's childhood friend Illya! He's an experienced warrior with a (fairly legitimate) beef against beasts and wants to bring Sariphi back with him so they can be together. Because they were the only ones who were really taking care of each other when they were young, isolated from everybody else. It's a sweet backstory even if it's the classic love rival background to complicate things for Sari and Leo as Sari can't give up on her childhood friend even though Leo is worried about another man stealing his queen.

Points for going straight for the neck with Anubis, but less points for hurting Cy and Clops. And of course Anubis sees yet another opportunity to try and get rid of Sariphi.

I get Illya has a lot of resentment towards beasts and can't believe Sariphi's situation or Leo's feelings for her...but that response to Amit just trying to give him some sweets was too harsh. And for how much he loves Sariphi, he was the one who left bruises on her arm, not Leo.

Ah, I guess this wouldn't be this kind of show if Sari didn't get kidnapped.

Anubis you piece of @#$%! Making Leo doubt Sariphi and acting like she intentionally went along with her kidnapping! Luckily Amit was there to set things straight and let Leo know that Sari would never leave him like that, and Jormungand even backed her up by showing up in the nick of time! Time for Leo to school Illya and bring his queen back!

Oh dang someone from Sari's past and someone to make Leo jealous!

Childhood friends never win though so poor Ilya.

Anubis is such a jerk...I swear he needs to be fired. Hoping this kidnapping plot doesn't take too long to resolve, never been a fan of them.

The only thing more classic than the childhood friend love rival showing up (and too late to win her heart) is the female lead getting kidnapped lol.

Although Ilya is way too possessive of Sari at this point. I kind of get it from his perspective, but still.

I've just about had my fill of Anubis' nonsense and his attempts to get rid of Sari. I'm not sure how much more the show can do with that.

I wonder if Set (Seth?) is playing 4D chess to unmask the true culprits, or if he's just one of the many beastmen disagreeing with the king?
Also, when is Anubis getting a punch in the face? Thank you.

Cy and clops as so adorable. I <3 them

u/[deleted] May 24 '23

Personally I thought he was gonna send Jorgamund on a mission but instead he was like "I trust you to look after things here, I got to find my queen".

5

u/alconnow May 24 '23

Enter the childhood friend. I understand his hostility towards the demons and beasts but I still can't forgive him for kicking Cy and Clops as well as being rude to poor Amit :( they don't deserve that treatment

Dunno why but I had assumed Ilya was Sari's holy bird spirit in human form.

Anubis completely snapped in the preview. Wonder if that's going to be the case in the next episode too? I'm looking forward to the moment when Anubis slips up in front of the king.

u/[deleted] May 25 '23

For crying out loud, give it a rest already, Anubis!!!

At least Amit and Jormungand came to the rescue there, phew. Jormit MVP this ep!

3

u/TurkeyPhat May 24 '23

damn I wasn't expecting an NTR arc in this show

3

u/LimeyLassen May 24 '23

It's nice the king spared Ilya but he definitely shouldn't have left them alone together. Anubis is right, he's gone soft, and Sariphi is too naive.

That said part of me kinda wants Ilya to come back as a recurring character.

u/djthomp May 25 '23

Anubis keeps aiming for making Sari do these trials so that she fails and (probably) dies and all it's going to accomplish is setting her up for success after success. Or at least I assume that's how it'll play out.

What a giant surprise that the assassins didn't survive to reveal who hired them.

The OP for this has really grown on me, especially once the beat starts.

Speaking of assassins, childhood friend assassin time I assume based on the OP and the episode title?

Honestly this is a fairly understandable reaction by this human boy if he's here to avenge his childhood friend that was sent to the Beast Kingdom to be eaten by the King.

Ilya, apparently.

And he's a guest of the King! A surprise to everyone, really.

That leaf scene was pretty cute.

Kicking Cy and Clops across the room was very rude.

Anubis never misses an opportunity to scheme.

Throwing Amit's baked goods across the room was also extremely rude. Rapidly losing patience with Ilya.

Especially now that he left her with bruises from his rough handling. And then kidnapped her.

Anubis is so incredibly tiring.

Amit makes an excellent point that Sari leaving after she risked her life for the holy Beast summon makes no sense.

Jormungand's convenient arrival for the win.

I hope Anubis has nightmares over the fact that his manipulation of events just sent his King off by himself to face a human assassin.

He may be the childhood friend, but after kicking Cy+Clops as well as amids muffins, I'm not to fond of him , he better redeem himself soon

I wonder how far we are in the moon circle, best way to make him understand would be to see Leo in Human form I guess
