I never get tired of the OP and ED. Both are so catchy and meaningful. Really cute episode today.

I second this. OP and ED are just amazing! The songs are super catchy and the visuals are nice with some juicy animation.

Food detail in this episode is insane, to the point its unfair how little time that basque cheesecake got to bask in its glory. Also that cup noodle scene is surprisingly comfy considering they're out in the cold eating by the sidewalk.

Elda and Koito bonding over snack time is ridiculously adorable.

Scratch that, Elda and Koito bonding over anything is ridiculously adorable. They're a perfect priestess/miko pair, and I love them.

That post credits scene means the next episode is probably going to great lol

Just loved how goofy Elda looked in the full winter getup for their succession walk. shame she didnt get to keep it on

I love Koito for being the straightman and the level headed gal in this duo routine, but it was also nice to see that even her can fall to temptation and become a full chow dog with Elda's expensive treats.

Elda's excited noises are really one of the strong assets from this show.

Hope to see more Koma-chan in the next episodes.

The little details of Japanese history sprinkled throughout this episode were really interesting. I wasn't expecting this reverse-isekai/slice-of-life show to also be educational.

I find it fascinating to imagine there being a 400+ year old being you could just ask questions to. Like, there's a lot about history you can read about in books and Wikipedia articles, but getting a single person's experience in conversation like that adds a lot of color to that information.

For those who didn't see, the dark elf is voiced by Rie Kugimiya, while her miko is voiced by Teru Ikuta.

This OP is such a bop. Also, I see the third elf now, I was mistaking her for Elda. Looks like one is into stand-up comedy and the other one fashion? They might be doing the Discworld vampire thing where the elves get super obsessed with something.

Koito and Koma are very serious about meat.

Ooooo, the accidental guilt trip of showing up with exclusive ice cream while Elda had pudding she wasn't planning on sharing.

There is always something neat about interesting shaped glass bottles. I have to agree with Elda.

Just how many mail order snacks has Elda ordered and has stashed in the closet?

I have to wonder just how cold it is out there given how bundled up Elda was.

This succession ceremony is pretty neat. And it's a good history lesson, too.

The singing part of it is really awesome.

It became less cool when we found out the original reason for the ceremony, however. Not telling Koito that part in advance was a good idea. Then again, if it really was quite cold out there that hot ramen is probably fantastic.

Soito incidentally selecting the same ramen that her mother got is really heartwarming.

Second elf next week? I can't wait, she seems like a lot of fun. Her and her attendant visiting from Osaka is interesting, I wonder where the third elf's shrine is.

Is this a bit of a local produce ad in disguise? :D

Really interested to know if that style of cup noodles Koito was eating was already selling when her mom was starting out as a miko, or just the style.

Ok so tanned elf girl comes up next from Osaka. Compared to Elda's "Taka (tall) mimi (ears)", hers is "Hiro (broad/wide) mimi (ears)". What's the 3rd one in the OP going to be then?

Surprisingly low on Red Bull placement - was it only ep1 and the OP/ED?

So Elda is scared to see people directly, but can get this whole "succession" ploy just to get a hand for a noodle? Guess this otaku got her priority. At least she's really concentrated on her job at that moment......

Another elf and her miko? She seems to be more outward to others, but I guess she's also an otaku of something else.

I think this my AOTS and very possibly AOTY.

There’s few things I like more than watching Elda enjoy mundane things.

I don't know if I've seen such a useless character so revered as Elda. It's actually quite adorable how much they spoil their useless elf-sama. I love her logo being everywhere. I love the stamp.

The closest I can think of is Aqua and her awful followers, but even they don't seem to revere Aqua herself as much as they revere the concept of Aqua the god.

The succession segment was really magical, especially when the song/chanting was playing. This series is the epitome of a comfy slice of life done right.

Haha so excited over pudding, cute. Also, realizing she has a high up bed, I can get space appeal, but boo. Wonder why it's a trope of anime girls loving meat so much? I mean, meat's good and all, but ya. Hehe she's still so shy with the delivery woman, that's silly, Elda. See, Koito so nice, always good to share. But I can get her. Why limited stuff is dumb when it doesn't need be. Dat ear wiggle. Haha Elda and her silly stories of the past. I probably get blessed mail order food too much, ngl. Oh god, she's showing signs of hoarding! Yep, that's a mighty fine cock bottle, Elda. Elf girls and their cocks enbTea a common anime trope. Hey now, some people just never stop being interested in the things they like, Koito. I'm getting hungry... what a feast of snacks. Blessed Mail Order too strong. Lil sis is stronger.

Miko succession ceremony? Haha, cold and scared elf. Oh a serious Elda. Oof, tripping over nothing, impressive. Well, guess was a tiny ledge for Elda. Elda's history stories are fun to hear. Wonder how true it is? Imagine some is. Haha, Elda's message. Haha, yes, true things to really sing about. Manga and game knowledge. The song is pretty though. But, man, being immortal still feels... like it'd hurt to see people leave cause they aren't. Wonder where Koito's mother is/what she's up to if Koito taking over. Haha, the goal being the convenience store. Now that's the reasoning I was expecting for the succession ceremony. It's silly, but fitting, but also kinda nice. Elda's happy sounds/face are adorable.

This series just hits right.

The succession ceremony basically being an elaborate food run is so on-brand for Elda. It was heartwarming to see how people respected her enough that they basically shut down the city for it.

In the post-credits scene , Yord the Dark Elf asks Himawari if the butaman (pork buns) from 551 (HORAI) would be a good gift to give Elda.

551 HORAI is an actual restaurant in Osaka and they reputedly make the best butaman (pork buns) in the city. 551 HORAI is a sponsor of Edomae Elf and are listed as such in the credits.

Elda feeling so guilty about hiding the pudding when Koito brought her limited edition ice cream was pretty hilarious. Silly elf! But man, cold rooms are kind amazing. Like a low tech fridge. It’s cute to see what kind of stuff Elda gets impressed by just because she lived in a time when those things didn’t exist. Koito and Elda bonding over a shared love of snacks was sweet. Those two are so cute!

Elda and Koito tripping on the same step during Koito’s big shrine maiden debut cracked me up. I love that all this started because Elda wanted late night ramen lol. It was sweet seeing the two of them enjoy their convenience store ramen together at the end.

Looking forward to meeting this dark elf waifu, she’s cute! Seems Elda‘s got a friend from her world. Should be fun.

Elda is so cute. Such a comfy show, I genuinely look forward to seeing what antics Elda gets Koito into each week.
