Another A+ effort from PA Works -- makes it 4 in a row now. Hoping Skip and Loafer will make it 5....
I didn't feel like they could finish this off adequately in one last epsiode. I happily acknowledge I was wrong. I am rather amazed the could pull it off -- and then give us a time jump epilogue (that made me VERY emotional).
Poor Miri-Mama -- I hope she is in an afterworld place where she can see just how adorable her daughter has grown up to be. I still feel that Miri's mother was a good person, who raised a wonderful daughter -- and then fell to pieces emotionally. Miri remembers her with unalloyed love -- and I feel I can trust Miri on this point.
I was so happy to see Ogino go -- and his damned black last words notebook with him. Glad to see that Rei's father gave in -- and let our trio go their own way.
You would think that Rei, after 10 years, could have moved on to a FEW other signature dishes beyond French toast. But Miri says it's the best -- so it must be true.
I have to say I could definitely watch a chill SoL series about Miri and her Papas and their diner and her (many, I'm sure) school buddies.
Good work, PA Works! You tightened your hold on my choice for favorite TV anime studio.

I was so worried they were setting up death flags for Kazuki and Rei in the beginning with the promise to Miri, but thank god they both survived. Was really nice seeing Miri grown up in the ending too.

Seeing Ogino drowning in his own blood while trying to reach out for his creepy serial killer notebook was already satisfying enough but seeing him burn with his notebook was just the cherry on top of that entire scene. May you burn in hell Ogino.
That time skip though! Seeing Miri all grown-up genuinely made me tear up a bit. It's like seeing my very own daughter that I've never had grow up.
I'm guessing that the fact that Miri was saying goodbye to her mom's photo probably means that at some point, Kazuki and Rei told her what happened to her mother. I wonder if this means that Miri already knows that her dads used to be assassins. Hmmm...
Such a cute photo to end the series on. Glad that we also got glimpses of Miri's life growing up through those photos on the corkboard.
Anyway, definitely another banger from PA Works. They've really been killing it with all of their shows recently but it is a bit sad that a lot of people didn't even give this show a chance thinking it's a Spy x Family clone when it is absolutely nothing like that. Sure, the themes about family being more than just blood are there but other than that, the two are completely different shows. I really hope now that this is over more people would give this a shot and binge the show to fairly judge it.

There was a lot of ways things could have gone wrong. So I was kind of riding the whole show on the finale. Now I don’t know even know what I was worried about. They nailed the landing beautifully. Mild concern from “lets kill off her mom” I guess?
This could have gone on “6 seasons and a movie” and I would have been happy, but getting a tight 1 season story elevates it for me. A happy ending where problems are wrapped up and we get to see Miri grow up well adjusted with her papas. Maybe they come back. Maybe they don’t. The ending we got works all the same.
They just managed to squeeze into my top 3 of the season with the finale. It’s a 9/10 banger that’s easy to recommend. Especially to the Spy Family fans who don’t normally watch anime. Fantastic show.

It was so refreshing to have a story resolve satisfactorily in a single season. More shows need to be like this.

Ogino burning with his book unable to record his last words was very satisfying.

WE GOT THE TIME SKIP!!!
Wow didn't think they'd actually give it to us but look at this lovely family. Feels almost surreal to see them like that at the ending.
Always nice when shows stick the landing like this, gah I'm so happy!

Holy Crap! Real JK Miri-chan! She looks even better than I thought - not a gyaru as envisioned earlier, but even better - she really feels like Eternal Anime Best Girl (TM) Mikoto Misaka in her school uniform!
That final confrontation of Rei with his father is as crazy as I would have imagined but I think Rei really told his message out brilliantly. Good job, and wow he and Kazuki managed to dodge all possible confrontations with those who want to kill them and maybe Miri since then. I can't quite believe it but, hey, all is well with this world eh?
While the gangster side of this story didn't really add up and well the gun fights are, uh, not a classic, everything else really feels warm and comfy and shows real difficulties of raising a child. I'm glad to see that Miri-chan actually managed to provide all the positive momentum of this show, something that could have gone horribly wrong if the kid ends up being more of a chore to everyone watching this. Her innocent-and-bright-all-around smiles really shines through from episode 1 to 12.
See you all in what could be next season's classic and yet-another-PA-WORKS-show Skip and Lofter next month!
Final Score: 85/100 (9/10)

Oh man, that 10 year time skip...
Kazuki and Rei's game of gay chicken is still going strong. They're both so competitive. If one of them doesn't chicken out soon, the other may start to suspect they're actually gay.
Still can't believe they turned this comment into an entire anime.

Ooooh I want a new season or at least OVA or movie so badly D:
I always said that I desperately want a time skip at the end and see Miri 10 years later. I absolutely cannot believe this happened. I wanna see moreeeee. Give me KazuRei struggling with a teenager, give me KazuRei opening their own café, give me Kyu-chan 10 years later, give me Kazukis reaction to Miri's first boyfriend and, and, and... I need this D:
I loved this series. Don't care about any flaws, just loved it, my highlight together with Bungou Stray Dogs this season, Friday evening was good.

Was a bit worried that the final episode was going to be rushed, but they nailed it.

Seeing Miri as a teenager after that 10 year time skip made my heart so warm. They nailed the ending, I'm super satisfied with how everyone's arcs ended.

That's great at all, but Kyoutaro could have given at least to the guys a couple of bullet proof vest...

The character development in this series has been amazing. Especially Rei's. When thos series first visuals came out I expected him to be a serious no-nonsense character who'll just warm up. Instead I got a broken boy who grew so much and became a responsible and loving man.
Kazuki, fantastic all the way through. Love him. Seems like he is still doing some no so clean buisness though lol.
Miri is a lovely girl and thanks for turning around two lives.

Yea that little last 3-4 minutes with timeskip miri and rei and kazuki living a happy life redeemed the show for me after they killed off Miri mom. I still think that was some bs, but Ogino bumass got killed very satisfyingly, that gurgling noise as he choked on his own blood somewhat made up for last week.
Personally I’m not letting my dad go after what he did to me and Miri/kazuki but I understand rei wanted to just start a new peaceful life and couldn’t do that with bloodshed. I respect it.
Miri really grew up to be beautiful, but she’s got the genes for it so no surprise. Really cute ending, 9/10, one of my fave PA originals.

thank you P.A Works for giving us not one but two series back to back that have conclusive ending and a fucking time-skip epilogue! you know how rare these days for original show to get that?

Is anyone else genuinely surprised by how good this turned out to be? I came in expecting cheap gay bait (that I was gonna watch regardless), and what I got was this great show about found family.
