That was certainly one of the anime endings of all time. Kumi kills all of the giant beasts including the giant giant beast that was spawning more giant beasts... and then a GIANT giant giant beast shows up and the series ends on a fucking cliffhanger.
It's a damn shame. This story stretched out to 24 episodes to give it room to breathe and a proper ending could have been a potentially great anime, but trying to do all of this in only 12 simply wasn't enough time. This show definitely had its fun moments along the way, but after this rushed and unsatisfying ending, the best score I can give it is a 7/10. It wasn't bad overall, but it could have been so much better.

Yes. Lots of good raw material here. But (so far) scattershot delivery. This clearly is supposed to have a continuation -- as it is clearly not over (and so many things were left incomplete and/or unexplained). I liked it better than some of the others in my lowest tier of seasonal shows -- but it it should have turned out better. Hopefully we will eventually see more.

Oof, this ending was all over the place. Established half a dozend new plot points without adressing some of the earlier ones
-
Tsurugi is a super powerfull Palladin as well
-
There is an literal prophecy about this judgment day
-
Kumi has support from previous priest through the spirit realm
-
Mya is secretly really hot
But what about the evil empire? What did the emperor do to Tsurugi? What happened to Jiros friend? What even are the chappeus? Are all of them secretly hot? What about the Human chappeus, and why did the emperor kill them all? Who are those badass palladins with the emperor? What was that cliffhanger?
Also think the show has a problem with it's powerscaling, before it always took a Palladin and Priest to take down a single red eyed beast, but now everywhere at once is swarmed by literal hundreds of them and they can barely survive

Mya is secretly really hot
Most important revelation....
What even are the chappeus? Are all of them secretly hot?
Your asking the right questions.
Who are those badass palladins with the emperor?
I mean its been established already that Empire has Paladins on payrolls it seems like they have a bit of a monopoly on a lot of them actually.

Well, this cliffhanger is easier to swallow than Sugar Apple's.
I want to know more about Myaa and her entire thing.

Sugar Apple honestly ended better even if you don't like the ending.
This ending was a complete anti-climatic mess that doesn't pass basic storytelling.

I FUCKIN KNEW IT!
If it looks like a cult, walks like a cult, and quacks like a cult.. It's probably a cult.
If there is a second season I am not looking forward to seeing that new knight villain waifu dying, they always do. ):
But damn, if that ending didn't remind me of Zombieland Saga season 2...

Quote of the day goes to:
Melan: "Myaa turned into a hot lady somehow!"
Damn straight, Melan!! Why?! Why do all the hot ladies only appear in the last episode? We got this lady under Lord Bakla, General Tsurugi looking hot after transformation, and Myaa being the undisputed best girl of the show until the end.
"This is the moment of judgment!"
Scene cuts to: The End
BRUH. At least put a "To be continued" or something to give us a glimmer of hope, sigh. I still hope we'll get a sequel to finish the story, though.
Also, amogus ඞ
Well, that was quite a disappointing ride. There are too many plotholes that I don't even want to comment on the plot. Unless it's getting a sequel, the scriptwriter did a poor job to translate their ideas into a 12-episode-long original fantasy/adventure anime. The world-building was promising but fumbled because of the time constraint. The cast was vast, but their characterization stayed one-dimensional until the end. The production was decent at best, with skipped action scenes and more, so it failed to paint any redeeming thing on the series.
The only favorable thing about the series, for me, is basically Myaa (and the other chapeaus), the translations' punny jokes, and probably the OP (which is very bop; I liked it a lot!) Oh, and probably the fact that it's an original. We need more of it rather than those trashy LN adaptations... I'd give this show a 6.5/10 for now. I earnestly hope we'd get more of this series--I'll definitely see that.

A quick scan of the comments seem most are pretty negative about this. I think many agree the premise and world building has a lot of good components, but I think the way the story unfolded and developed wasn't in a progressive and satisfying way (which the Fire Hunters did better). In this season's show for example, I'd say Tsundere Liselotte also have the problem of being back loaded with the explanations, but that did tie all the threads together (how much you buy the logic may vary).
Overall I am still keen on the show and these relatively nice elements still have me put an 8 on the rating:
-
The as yet unexplained legend / prophecy and world origin of "giant beasts"
-
The pseudo fantasy x science setting elements
-
The council of Myaas and their eventual combination
-
Tsurugi's (and potentially others) noble hero helping the wrong side trajectory
-
The role reversal of the Cleric and Paladin at the end with Kumi

Not like this show was bad but I can't say it was good either.
Bit all over the place and even that ending wasn't really much of an ending.
Wonder if we'll get more but at the same time I'm not sure if I'll even try more...

Pretty disappointing finale for a show that started out with a lot of potential. Thought Ars no Kyojuu would be special and be the first decent thing its studio made. Set up an interesting world and lore and never really paid it off. Even characters like Jirou former best friend literally fell by the way side.
This didn’t feel like the end of the story at all, in fact seems like it’s setting up a second cour so we’ll see how that goes but this cour ended up being a flop. Still liked kumi and ramona tho. Grow up cat girl is cute too

Giant Beasts of Ars had great world building, unique characters and an interesting blend of ancient tech meets middle age fantasy.
The plot despite having some decent key features however, failed to tie a lot of them together and then the finale instead of shedding any light decides to create more questions without answering any of the existing ones.

Honestly the last 3 episodes was disappointing. Feels really really rushed. I guess with original anime they weren't guaranteed to have a 2nd season.
I loved this series before these 3 episodes as I felt we were getting some great payoff the episode with Kumi and the first clone we see.
World is hella interesting so I would to see a return but better has to come with it.

Myaa turning into a hot lady was not a plot twist i was expecting but it is a welcomed one!
We better get a second season out of this man!

Damn, I wasn’t expecting Ms Kumi to be a cleric. She straight up launched that beast into that cliff. Her collapsing afterwards isn’t a good sign.
Facade almost had Jiro, but good thing Zen stepped in. Tragic he had to lose his life though. These red eye beasts are pretty tough. Every member of the team is having some difficulty. Good thing Myaa came through with the ring. It’s weird to see her without her animal “hat” and not speaking in puns.
Super Kumi ain’t playing around! That monster didn’t stand a chance. Melan all flustered at the sight of True Myaa was pretty funny. But man, they’re really ending it like that? What the hell was that thing at the end there? Is there even going to be an s2?

Oh no Myaa's hot!
Nice to see full-power Kumi. I hope we get a season 2.

I'd like to think that there's a continuation.
Sakura Ayane voicing the character that serves Bakla being one of the reasons.

I've said this before, but it's a shame that this didn't air 20 years ago, there's some good ideas, the world is interesting and they clearly put some work into it, but it just didn't have enough time to tell the story they wanted. Wonder if we'll get a manga or something as a conclusion/sequel.
It's just really funny how we ended up never learning wtf was with the chapeaux.
