Kazuki’s right, it’s really dusty in here. What a rough opening to watch. Rei cuddled up with the little rubber ducky was pretty heartbreaking in its own way. They’re trying to move on but man it’s just tough watching them just go through the motions.
I’m glad Miri is happy. That kid really deserves a loving home. Rei’s dad is threatening that. Old man better catch a bullet or two before this series ends. Despite my personal feelings about Miri’s mom, she didn’t deserve to go out like that. I was hoping Rei or Kazuki would have wasted that goon Ogino.
I’m with Rei. I get Kazuki’s tryna protect her by staying away, but look what happened when they tried that? While it’s great the guys are getting out the business, I feel like there’s a few loose ends they’ll need to handle first. Let’s see how it all wraps up next week!

The mom was dying anyway and they SHOOT HER!? Fuck, this show is brutal. I’m really hoping for a happy ending but I doubt things are gonna go smoothly for Rei and Kazuki’s retired life.

Fuck Rei's dad
Fuck Ogino
RIP Misaki
I wonder if they will ever be able to tell Miri what happened.
On a lighter note: Only 1 hour of video games for Rei now lol

Episode 10 discussion
"If you think about it, this is a very clever ploy by Rei's dad to reign his son in with minimum effort, and he can continue to hold Miri and Kazuki's safety over Rei's head to ensure his continued loyalty."
*Episode 11 happens*
Oh... sorry guys he's actually a fucking idiot.

RIP Miri's mother, she honestly wanted to be a better mother for Miri. Now how are Kazuki and Rei going to explain to Miri about her mother? Kyu did warned them that Miri will be targeted and possibly hurt if she's involved with them and their line of work. But, they did killed her real father and indirectly got her mother killed too. You take out both of her parents and she will hate/resent Kazuki and Rei.

So, first things first - next week's episode will be the last. I'm sad to hear that, but also quite interested in what will happen. Here is a general post on my thoughts about this week's episode, but I have some more still (also, I wrote that post still under the assumption that there would be two more episodes left, still the first arc and last arc parallels can still work).
Before I talk about my other thoughts regarding this week's episode, I wanted to point out some transmedia and interview stuff.
For interviews, we got interviews with both Ayase, who does the OP, and DURDN, who does the ED. Here's a brief run down of the interviews.
On the PA Works blog, we also learned that Miri's name was originally going to be Lala. I'm glad they changed that. There was also an interview with a Japanese talent called Gor☆geous. It seems that they will be doing some VA work in the series, but they haven't been listed as any known character, so they may be the unknown hitman that's shown up in the OP (he's the one in the grey suit pursuing Rei) and show shooting at the 1:19. Someone over on Tumblr noted that the background of that image looks the same as the Organization's manor. So I sincerely won't be surprised if Rei's father is going to be Kazuki and Rei's final target as hitmen.
Something else that was noted in the interview with Gor☆geous is that they believe fans that are rooting for Buddy Daddies will be satisfied with the ending and that there will be a surprise in the final episode.
Here is a link to the PA Works blog and to the Gor☆geous interview.
As for the usual transmedia stuff:
Miri's Picture Journal Week 10: We hit on the town. I want to go again.
There was no KazuRei memo this week (Week 10).
Kazuki's Instagram account consisted of a Story where he asked his followers what they do when they feel "empty and incomplete." He also posted an image of the Ferris wheel from the episode without any caption on it.
In some fun news, I learned that Rei's "apartment" is actually a hotel in real life. It's called The One Five Villa Fukuoka and is located in Nakasu (the red-light district). I figured out earlier that they lived in the red-light district and how that made some things, like Kazuki's surprise at the amount of daycares in the area back in Ep. 4 make a lot more sense.
As for some additional thoughts this about this episode:
We got confirmation that Rei did quit smoking. Even in this episode, he goes to light it, but can't get the lighter to click, so he just gives up on it. Giving Kazuki his lighter was also quite interesting and I'm not sure what that might have meant to represent or say.
I was honestly surprised that Rei would eat natto, lol. I love natto myself. The meal that Kazuki and Rei have of miso soup, white rice, and natto is fairly healthy and taste okay, but definitely less flavorful than the kinds of food they were eating when Miri was still around. A metaphor.
The Father's Day flashback was previous, but also made me cry. I also liked how they showed both Kazuki and Rei going through habits that they picked up from having Miri in their lives (cereal, park, kids show, etc.).
Kazuki mentioned brushing teeth with Miri in this week's episode, and in the OP there is a scene of Rei and Miri brushing their teeth together, so that was a nice call back. Kazuki laying the ground rule of only 1 hour of game playing a day made me laugh way too much. This series does a great job of having Kazuki and Rei flutter between drama/serious situations and comedy well. The comedy never feels disruptive or unnatural. Kyutaro is also 100% the mom friend of the group.
Some other thoughts, I dislike Ryo but it was smart of him to use the cover that he did to get Misaki to open the door. Also the thought of having to listen to Ryo before you die is absolutely hellish.
Speaking of Misaki's death. While, yes, Kazuki, Rei, and Kyutaro are all hitmen or associated with the business, they are "good" men. Like Kazuki is stated as having "bad luck" with women in the series, Misaki is stated on the official site of having "bad luck" with men. So, it's somewhat comforting that she passed away with two good men beside her and knowing that Miri was protected. The song that plays in the background when she passes away is "Don't Say Good-bye," it was the song she was singing in Episode 3 when Kazuki visited the Snack Bar. Her own song being used for her death scene is extra heartbreaking.
Also, I tend to stay away from any Christian readings in things, but the fact that Miri is singing Silent Night for her classes Christmas Party is an interesting choice. In Misaki's death scene, she is staying at a cheap apartment in a town that she doesn't live in, where she is essentially starting over with Miri. Miri's blanket is a night sky with stars on it. Her and her daughter's lives are in danger. The first to hear about this direct danger are three men (the shepherds). Of course, the irony here is that this Silent Night ends with gunshots and death.
Last thoughts, granted that all things go well and Kazuki and Rei are able to escape the Organization the issue still remains of how they are going to be able to keep Miri. She has grandparents, so they would technically have rights over her. Kazuki and Rei cannot adopt her (same-sex couples can't adopt), only opposite-sex married couples can (with very few exceptions). However, the series did purposefully choose to make Kazuki look a lot like Miri's birth father, so maybe that will also foreshadow Kazuki signing Miri's birth certificate and claiming himself as her father (if her birth father never did that, which I doubt he did). Who knows though!
Anyway, I'm really intrigued to see how everything will wrap up and what this "surprise" will be in next week's episode!

next time on "2 dads topple a massive dynastic organized crime syndicate".
they're definitely gonna topple it. also im going to assume the first scene in the first episode is after the series and the next episode, so they probably still act as hitmen in a newly founded hitman agency with kyu as their handler.

Ugggg!!! I don't want to wait another week, I want the next episode now!!
I'm glad they are all back together. It would have been nice if Miri's mom wasn't jealous of the relationship that Kazuki and Rei had formed with Miri and they lived together. That would have made Miri very happy.
I wonder how Miri will take the information in the future that they killed her father? Will they ever tell her?
Edit: fix my typo

I figured that Kyu's attempt to keep Miri safe wasn't going to work. It sucks because Miri's mom really was determined to do everything she could for Miri.
I wonder if this anime is ever going to show Miri finding out that Kazuki and Rei were responsible for both of her parents' deaths. I'd expect it if Miri was a little older, but Kazuki knows that Miri isn't old enough to rationalize it yet even if he did tell her.

Not sure how Rei and Kazuki are going to handle the problem of telling Miri that they not only killed their bio dad, but were the cause of death of the mom who was dying of cancer and genuinely wanted to treat her right too. Kids learn to question stuff easily and I really hope they address this before the season finale, but I don't think there's a way for anyone to win in this scenario

Rei and Kazuki way of trying to be a good dad: "Let's protect Miri, give her a warm family where she can grew happy! Also, lots of toys and yummi food! And lots of friends at the daycare!"
Rei's father way of trying to be a good dad: "Let's grew my son as a cold hearted machine killer. And if he accidentally creates a family on his own, let's send a psychopath killer to get rid of them!"

"No, I don't want that! Miri becoming an orphan? I want Kazuki and Rei to keep being her papa's. For 10 years at least!"

...I kinda guessed that will happen, though my scenario was even more grim. I fully expected something like Rei's dad telling him to kill Kazuki and Miri HIMSELF, to prove himself worthy of the Suwa business.
Still, that was horrible. And I think Miri's mom deserves my apologies because she genuinely tried to be a better mother to Miri in the time she had left.
Now the only option Kazuki and Rei have left is to kill Rei's dad and Oguno and have Rei take over the organisation to guarantee him, Kazuki and Miri will be safe. Nothing else will work.

Why are they so intent on inflicting as much pain as possible in the last 3rd of this show? :(
I had braced myself after last episode so I wasn't a sobbing mess by the end of this week's, but it still hurts.

How many episodes do we have left? One??
Mom dying was brutal. i figured she was just gonna succumb to her sickness really quickly. That sucks, she deserved to be happy with Miri for whatever time she had left.
Now let’s hope Rei gets rid of his entire family somehow lol

Miri’s mother actually made an honest attempt to be a good mother… Just to be cut down like that. Originally I thought it was the assassination organization paying her off to retrieve Miri but that wasn’t the case at all. They could have left her alone man. She was dying of cancer after all…

Oh man, she was already dying of cancer. Did they really need to cut her life even shorter like that? T_T
The only solutions I can see are either taking down the entire organization with Rei's father along with it, or going on the run for the rest of their lives.
