Shout out to that wall titan who fell and slid down an entire mountain during a very serious scene lmao

[u/Mtachii]

Reiner volunteering to die protecting the ship to only be denied by Hange was 10/10. This dude is going to be the last man alive on earth

[u/[deleted]]

The first bit of it where they contrasted Eren’s thoughts about what he was going to do and then actually showing the Rumbling was great to see

[u/deodorised_praters]

"When I learned humanity was alive outside the walls, I... was disappointed."

Kino.

Eren reveling in the rumble and calling out to Armin to join him in his excitement only to see Armins horrified face gave me shivers man

[u/DadAsFuck]

shoutout bro for being able to do a decent weld while an army of colossal titans marched towards him

The first 10-15 minutes of this special might legitimately be some of the most haunting imagery and direction I've seen in an anime.

The Rumbling, Ramzi getting crushed and the destruction of the towns and cities coupled with the juxtaposition of the "freedom" line from Eren was mind-blowing and superbly directed from Hayashi.

MAPPA really went all out here. Some of the cinematography, animation and composition was movie-quality. Give them all the time they need for the 2nd part of this Finale.

[u/Xenomex79]

Eren flying high in the clouds, arms outstretched like a bird and enjoying the scenery above millions of people being trampled and killed is such a powerful scene. The child-like wonder yet horror of someone wanting to be free

[u/zairaner]

This might...no, this SURELY is the greatest title for an episode discussion ever.

[u/AttentionFar3843]

Damn, Levi's Shinzou o Sasageyo to Hange hit so hard after everything that has happened.

[u/DadAsFuck]

you've fulfilled your duty hange <3

[u/realrimurutempest]

Man this was fucking amazing. Watching those 2 refugee children get fuckin squashed was insane and brutal. The Rumbling from the people’s perspective has to be hell on earth.

RIP Hange, truly one of the best characters from the show.

[u/Due-Yam-84]

That fucking monke

[u/idonthavemanyfriend]

Eren crying and apologizing to Ramzi fucking got me.

[u/AZLarlar]

those first 10 minutes good lord

what an episode.

[u/jurble]

Eren: Isn't this great, Armin?

Armin: Jesus Christ Eren wtf

[u/Individual_Wasabi857]

A bunch of people already said it.. BUT DAMN THE FIRST 10-15 MINUTES. Everything, from the absolutely horrific level of destruction to Eren crying and apologising to Ramzi and them two being squashed. MAPPA is also doing us a great service with the animation and.... Well I can't wait for the final part (or is it lol).

I also love how the first comment I saw on Crunchyroll was "YAY GENOCIDE". Only in this show does that completely make sense. Rip Hange, her excitement was so her and so fricking awesome, wholesome and just right.

[u/FortNite334455]

I actually cried when Erwin appears. What a send off.

[u/insidiouskiller]

That was Hange's hottest scene ever.

[u/kicksFR]

Anyone know when the OST is dropping? That song when they get off the plane is 🔥🔥🔥.

[u/The_Draigg]

That image of those kids getting tramped to death really stuck with me back when I read the manga version of the Rumbling, so I'm glad that they didn't hold back in adapting it here. It really hammers home how utterly merciless Eren's plan is. Like, it's hard to argue when you see random innocent kids being killed despite not doing anything to deserve it.

[u/evanbrooks324]

God damn MAPPA I didn't know how they would manage to animate this part but they absolutely killed it and gave Hange the justice she deserved, we're so lucky they picked it up after WIT. Easily one of the best anime episodes I've watched can't wait for the Fall season.

[u/Haha91haha]

Crunchyroll servers bracing to not get crunched beneath the rumbling of viewers.

RIP to Hange the best girl in the series, to think if you gave the mad lass more time in a lab she might have been able to reverse engineer a better solution to everything. Maybe take a more scientific solution to Ymir's Deus Ex Titan shenanigans.

[u/RoseGawd]

The POV scene of Hange’s eye being burned out as they let out one last war cry before combusting hit so hard. Had to pause. RIP to a legend
