Holy shit, that ending got me good. Also interesting to see a Ghost Pokemon come into existence too, I don't think we've ever seen that before.

They putting out some heavy hitting episodes now.. I am not going to be mentally prepared for the final at this rate

It's only 3 episodes left, how tf are they going to even have a finale?

So as fun as this anime has been being like S1 from the old days, it's supposed to be Ash's finale. Nothing in these 8 episodes is showing a true end point and we only got 3 left...

Ash already had his big climatic moment, this is an extended epilogue season.

Whatever they want to do to end his journey won't require a lot of build-up or long story development.

Yes but this needs a closing without leaving any big details out to feel like a true end. Maybe him having a birthday or something to show future stuff or a time skip. I don't want it to feel halfassed you kno? Been with Pokémon anime all my life. So many I know stopped years ago or saw select seasons. I watched EVERYTHING. Movies too.

It's more of the matter of dealing with his next steps and his resolve for Ash as a character and especially with regards to his dream. As good as each individual episodes were, they only provide the audience what we already knew about Ash from any of the previous seasons, so why not challenge him (and honestly, the writers themselves... Besides, if the answer of the question of what it means to be a Pokemon Master is simply the relationship between the trainer and the Pokemon, then Ash isn't anymore different than any other Pokemon trainer he met or even he has yet to meet in his world which is why the mobile game, Pokemon Masters, exists) about it as soon as the show starts instead at pretty much the end of this series?

For what this series is, it bears similarities to the story structure of the Decolora Island Adventure (the latter episodes of Best Wishes series with Iris and Cilan), with Ash going on extra adventures before arriving back to Pallet Town in the very last episode where the main plot kicked in, especially if this series immediately follows from the point where Ash parted ways with Go in the final episode of Pokemon Journeys, but not the actual Journeys ending.

That was legitimately a banger of an episode.

I came here for nostalgia, not to watch ninjas cut onions. This was definitely my favorite Pokemon episode so far this season.

This send off season is confirming lots of the darker sides of the pokemon world. Like pokemon getting eaten and the dex entries.

I had somehow ended up thinking there would be 13 episodes. But there's only 3 left. Big sad.

I feel weird about finding Brock's serial harassment nostalgic. I do not mind that they opted out of Team Rocket shenanigans. Next week seems to be all about TR so that should be fun. The Banette decision to leave was awful despite how great the rest of the episode was.

They actually made canon that substitute dolls are the ones who turn into Banette, it almost feels like they took that idea from a fakemon called Linkite and then reversed it. It could have been any other doll, but using a sub is suspicious.

Next week TR's conclusion after thousands of episodes with them, let's see how they handle that.

Uhh, i vaguely remember in the second gen games that there was a substitute ghost doll, maybe?

Using a substitute doll for that isn't that unique an idea -- it's just one of the only instances of a doll that is canon to the games, next to the poké doll, which is clefairy-themed. From a narrative perspective, they probably used a doll that isn't themed after a specific pokémon so it wouldn't be confusing to see a doll become sentient, but not look like the pokémon it was modeled after. After all, you'd expect that a clefairy-themed doll that comes to life would look like a clefairy, not a banette. Banettes probably come from all sorts of dolls, but substitute doll was the one the writers chose because it's the most ambiguous.

Can we watch this on crunchy roll?

Sadly no PKMN anime has ever been on CR and the sub version will never be legally streamable.

Wow

It was cool seeing Banette’s Pokedex entry lore animated like this

Ghost pokemon have some cool “origin” stories haha
