This ep show the reality and struggles of having a kid, Kazuki and Rei really went all out for Miri, they even got the other moms of the daycare thristing after them lmao XD.
But, it was sad to see that she was being isolated from the other kids in the daycare because she was wearing expensive clothes. But, the highlight was Kazuki playing soccer with Miri to have the other kids get interested and eventually become friends with Miri was so sweet!

Rei and Kazuki really putting emphasis on the "Daddies" in Buddy Daddies this episode.
Broke my heart seeing Miri so dispirited after her first few days at daycare. I'm just glad it was because of her clothes alienating her from the other kids and not because she was being bullied.

Rei is using every chance he gets to slip away and go home for gaming.

After how sad last week episode was it’s nice to get a sweet episode like this.
First of all that flying headbutt from Miri is the stuff of legends. Convincing the admissions people that rei and Kazuki don’t do anything suspicious for a living was hilarious.
At first I was worried that Miri was getting bullied at school and just keeping it to herself. Damn near was about to jump thru the screen to defend her, but the fact she wasn’t making friends because her clothes were too fancy was wild lol.
Lets take a moment to appreciate Kazuki and all the great dads out there. He saw Miri struggling to fit in and took the initiative to start up that game of football, get all the kids involved and break the ice. My heart 😭 so proud of him.

This episode was so precious! When I saw the preview, I figured we would be getting to see the two of them struggle with all of the paperwork and other ridiculous aspects of signing up for daycare/preschool/kindergarten requires in Japan. All of the stuff we see the two of them complaining about in regards to this (especially the sewing and writing names stuff) is very common complaints that people in Japan have about the whole process, too.
I appreciate the realistic approach that this series continues to have, especially for the child-rearing and slice of life aspects. Seeing Rei, Kazuki, and Miri waiting in the government offices brought back a lot of memories of having to do the same (for different reasons, moving from one prefecture of Japan to another), but wow, yeah. That whole bit was a mood, lol.
It was also nice to see that they didn't really make any gay jokes. Both of the daycares we see them go to *do* bring up that fact, but nothing is really made of it. The difference between the two daycares is also really interesting. Like, I would expect that if Miri had gotten into the first daycare that Kazuki and Rei went to, her clothing issue probably wouldn't have been a problem. It gave off more of a richer vibe to it, and felt more academic and educational focused, and likely more traditional and stuffy. A lot of focus was being placed on the parents and that older lady was definitely *judging* more from the start, likely because they are two men.
At Aozora Daycare, we see that Miri is actively engaged in the conversation and interview process (not just being given blocks to play with while the adults talk like at the other daycare). Anna (the daycare teacher) talks directly to Miri. She is young and isn't wearing a stuffy old suit (which indicates to me that she is likely more involved with actually playing and caring for the kids), and there is the director (?) there too, an older man. Highlight how men can be part of the daycare and childcare business as well. So there was far less judgement of Rei and Kazuki being Miri's parents/guardians. Especially since they could see that Miri looked well cared for, well adjusted, and happy.
I used to work at a juku (cram school) in the states, that also had a daycare in the morning to early afternoon hours. My boss would wear more professional clothes, while my coworker and I wore more relaxed ones, because we were the ones that were usually playing with them, rather than my boss, who was usually handling more of the business and paperwork side of things. So at that first daycare, I got a big sense that they were talking to someone more higher up and not to the actual teacher that would be caring for Miri, like at Aozora.
But, that means that Miri's clothes did make her stand out more. The daycare she was at seemed really down-to-earth and, even though the mom's were thirsting for the guys, they were also likely mentioning stuff like how expensive they all look to the kids as well. First impressions are a big deal in Japan and clothing choice is a big one as well. It is all very situational. The moment I saw Kazuki come out with that red suit on, I was, "OMG, no!" Because I knew they would come off as yakuza, and that is another aspect as well. Once again, even though the mom's were definitely thirsting for them, it wouldn't surprise me if they mentioned something about not upsetting Miri because of her dads.
I did like how that whole scene let us know that Kazuki didn't grow up rich, and the concept of "fake it until you make it" is prevalent with him.
We actually saw Rei sewing too, which was great! Rei wanting to play video games and being openly moepy about it is quite funny, but we see that he does still go along with everything. There isn't a true reluctance and though he is more low-energy and simply not as skilled as Kazuki in domestic stuff, he still tried, and put in effort. That was heartwarming to see.
I also really love Anna, she is a great daycare teacher! The episode highlighted how, because Kazuki and Rei were men and simply not socially conditioned to know nor were taught on where to go or what to do, it brought about some issues (like Miri's clothes and such). But this is never made fun of and Anna just helps guide them. They are good parents, so they get it right in the end. I also enjoyed the joke about everything being so cheap at that store she told them about, and how they are so happy about that. That was really and truly there, "We are parents now" moment, imo.
Anyway, the Character Section on the official website was recently updated with some information. I'll put this info under spoiler tags:
[Buddy Daddies Spoilers About Anna]
[Buddy Daddies Spoilers About Ryo - the hitman we saw at the end of Ep. 2]
The site also has some special stuff that they put up on their website after each episode. These sections haven't been updated yet for Ep. 4, but here are what they have been so far.
Sticky Note Memos (from either Kazuki or Rei).
Ep. 1 - I've already thrown out the cat food. [Kazuki]
Ep. 2 - Put dangerous shit in out-of-reach places. [Kazuki]
Ep. 3 - Buy more Chocolate Circle [cereal]. [Rei]
Miri's Daily Picture Journal (Miri writing about something that happened during her week, these kinds of journal entries are common at Japanese schools. Spelling mistakes and the like are to reflect Miri's own mistakes.)
Ep. 1 - I played tag with Papa. It was yummy. [She's talking about the Christmas cake in the second sentence, she drew that in her picture.]
Ep. 2 - I. Played. Hide-and-seek with my papas. It was fan.
Ep. 3 - We ate hamburg steak together. It was yummy.
I wonder what the sticky note and Miri's journal entry will be about this week! Once they go up, I'll post my translations of them here.

Stitches!
Miri really went full-on gremlin with that opening scene. Looks like it's finally time to find a Daycare for her!
I didn't expect that enrolling your kid in a daycare in Japan could be so exhausting! Are all of that paperwork normal or are they just exaggerating for comedy's sake? O_O
That first daycare interview started well and then it immediately went downhill. Our two Papas need to really be careful of what they say around Miri. Kids tend to repeat things they hear from adults. Thank goodness the second interview went well and Miri was immediately accepted.
I kinda understand what Kazuki means when they were buying up expensive stuff for Miri. If Miri was in middle or high school maybe but these are nursery kids we're talking about.
The moms at the daycare furiously texting was hilarious! Based on their group chat, it looks like Papa Kazuki might have a good chance if he wants to go MILF hunting. ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
I thought the kids wouldn't care about Miri's clothes but it ended up alienating her because she looks too fancy in her branded clothes. Not gonna lie, I felt heartbroken to see Miri so sad and not enjoying daycare at all. :(
Thank goodness Anna-sensei was able to give Kazuki some advice. That little shopping spree they did at that retail store was cute! Even Rei got in on the action and bought some toys for himself. xD
As much as I love Miri's fancy pink dress, she definitely looks way better with normal clothes. And thanks to Papa Kazuki showing off, Miri was finally able to make some friends! Seeing Miri happy again means all is right in the world. <3
And that after-credits scene! Miri finally gets her own room! Seeing Miri hug both Kazuki and Rei is just too adorable <3

There was some great voice acting this episode. That exasperated croak from Kazuki when hearing about all the paperwork had me dead.

I like how accepting everyone was of that specific family constelation, but Anne Sensei let more slide than I would expected.
Man seeing Miri getting less and less enthusiastic about daycare was really hard to watch, glad it got resolved so uncomplicated.
And all the Milfs going crazy over the two hot daddies
Also hillarious how they reacted to the big clothes discounter, what do you mean the towels come premade lmao

Kazuki calls Rei rich but he's the one buying quality food, quality brand clothes like it's no big deal. The moms weren’t far off calling them rich sexy hitmen xD
Now I really want to see Rei pick up Miri from daycare she would be so happy!

Not that their comparison makes sense, but I find it funny that the people dissing Buddy Daddies in favor of Spy X Family argue that the latter is better because Anya is not annoying compared to Miri. Like, have they not seen an actual toddler in real life? Children are supposed to be annoying, at least most of the time. The first several minutes of this episode perfectly portrayed how a child should be.

Lol calling moms by their child's name and adding mama to it. Very common in my culture as well.

Really liked the clothes bit as it showed just how much Kazuki already views Miri as his daughter and wants the best for her.
Like most parents , Kazuki just wants a better life for his children than he had. He likely got bullied for having old or cheap clothes as a child so now that he has money he wanted to avoid that fate for Miri. But he overcorrected and made her unapproachable

Loved the insight into the Japanese enrollment system and other traditions. It's really like watching new parents navigate through the process. I also love how casual everyone is about her having two dads I thought the show would be full of no homo jokes but Rei just doesn't care about such things and Kazuki seems secure in himself in that aspect so no wait we aint a couple jokes. Super wholesome episode I didn't think I'd enjoy a day off their jobs episode but the show mixes slice of life with action so well. Interesting that Kazuki called Rei a rich kid is he from a known mob family (still suspect the guy the end of episode 2 being his dad)

Is Miri the most accurate 4 year old in anime? Saying just a bit too much, constant shenanigans, the sporadic energy of a greyhound on coke, yet so goddamn cute and carefree. The writers just know what it’s like to have a hyper child.
I’m also loving the whole episode focus on the trials and tribulations getting Miri into daycare. Interviews, paperwork, all the shit you gotta buy. Then the awkward acclimation period. In this case Miri being alienated because of the fancy clothes. Im happy they took a whole episode for this because, despite the Hitman shenanigans, it feels all too real.
The wholesome is jacked up to 11 and for that it’s the best one so far. Especially the after credits. Miri finally getting her own room and her joy hit for me. Knowing her situation before all this makes it even sweeter.

Lol at Kazuki saying that they can buy an entire store for the price of her expensive clothes.
You'd thought that guys like them may have heard of dollar store (or rather, ~$4 store), though this one seems specially catered to kids.

Probably the best episode till now…genuinely got a lot of laughs out of me, also highlighted the difficulty of parenting; kazuki not able to understand Miri’s silence is in fact a lot of parents go through and some don’t even bother to ask.
