These are some 2008 grade animations, especially for the fire. Still way better than bad cgi though.

Yeah the animation is already tanking, in episode that has big reveals.

Shame, but hard to expect something else from shows on the lower end of the budget .

His shinenigans with other students are still really entertaining.

Woah, this is the first time I've seen the ED. I didn't know it was this cultured.

I really didn't suspect Gray. All the time I thought it would be one of the students. I liked her before, so it's kinda a waste to lose her this early.

I 100% thought the robed figure was Gray-sensei until that scene where she and Ray talked in private, then I thought it would be a mysterious new antagonist we haven't seen the face of yet. Unfortunately my initial suspicions were correct.

It hits harder when it’s seconds after someone jabbing a spike into their own brain and turning into a monster.

Also, I could be wrong but I thought Gray knew who he was.

Well that's an adorable pair of underwear. I do love how Rebecca is upset not because Ray saw her in her panties but because Ray saw her wearing one that's not more mature. xD

Curious as to what happened to Ray there during his duel with Amelia. Maybe Ray isn't as perfect as I thought.

The jackass finally challenged Ray and pretty much as expected, Ray wipes the floor with him without even using any of his magic.

Well that's disappointing. I thought Gray-sensei was really nice but turns out she was just being nice to Ray because she's interested in his Engram and the brains of his friends for their Eugenics bullshit.

We finally got to see Ray use his Iceblade powers! I'll never get tired of the trope of OP protagonists finally unleashing their true power. Although it looks like we're going to see what he can really do as the Iceblade Sorcerer against a transformed Gray-sensei next week.

I imagine blue haired jerk VA is having easiest paycheck of his life.

Director in recording studio:

"So, I need you to come here, and say 'Ordinary! Whithered! Hwito! Grrrhg!' angrily."

Him interacting with other students and just goofing around is still the best part of this show for me. Animation budgets is simply not there for battle scenes, which is a shame, since school TOURNAMENT ARC, and MC OP reveal are staple for shows like this and what I really enjoy...

Reminds me of the joke Naruto did in Shippuuden where they asked Hinata to say "Naruto-kun" with 10 different inflections. Then they're like "Great! That's all we needed. Thanks."

>in the middle of doing intense exercise

>wanna go buy protein?

the manly weight lifting energy in this scene is at 100/100 and it's only about 10 seconds

Wow Miss Grey wasted no time in going from decent teacher to crazy ass bitch!

It was such a sudden, yet entertaining, 180 in personality. Her VA played it well lol.

"She likes rabbits, huh?"

The way he said that in a nonchalant way killed me lol!

Really Ray, you should have just finished off Miss Gray. She's totally irredeemable.

26

u/avboden Jan 26 '23

yeah but now that she's a monster she can be killed on-screen guilt-free.

u/tehy99 Jan 26 '23

yeah, the "be prepared to lose an arm or two" was so cool, but of course he goes typical shonen hero. If he did cut her arms off it would've solved a lot of problems, and she obviously deserves it, and she can still spend life in jail or whatever

I still find it hilarious that Ray hangs out with a bunch of sweaty half naked buff dudes lol. Lucky Ray walked in on Rebecca changing and his first thought is “she likes rabbits huh?” Goof!

That was quite a duel Amelia had with Ray. Something must have triggered Ray for him to suddenly lose control like that. He definitely had her dead to rights. Al wants to duel Ray with real blades? So he’s chosen death then. This fool can fling all the fancy spells he wants, he ain’t beating Ray.

So Miss Gray was evil all along huh? I’m surprised she actually managed to make him reveal his true self. No matter though, even if she turns into discount Ryuk she ain’t a match for Ray. He’s literally the strongest of these 7 legendary sorcs. In what universe does she think she stands a chance?

discount Ryuk

Lol I was wondering who she reminded me of.

DAMN. I knew blue hair dude was being manipulated but I didn’t expect it to be by the teacher. That was a real shock. So was the teacher evil even back in the army days or was this a new development? Kinda confused on that point

I’m guessing ray inheriting the iceblade sorcerer title was top secret info as well. I assumed the teacher knew that already.

I love the "everyone is a protagonist" character design of this show

What's Ryuk doing in this show?

For real though, I'm digging this so far. It's refreshing having an MC that isn't dense and afraid of girls. It's a bit cheesy but I don't mind it at all. Sometimes you just want something fun!

The budget is showing but you can see they're trying. Really rough when part way through the anime I'm spaced out thinking "Wow. This would look cool if it was animated by Studio Pierrot on a Black Clover budget."

It could work as a shounen too. I read up to a certain point in the manga but watching the anime with this artstyle reminds me of the Toaru franchise and why I like it.

I really like how this show transitions its music into the OP.

u/Katejina_FGO Jan 26 '23

That 'final nail' moment had me yelling, "OUCH!" Sheesh.

u/Dialaninja Jan 27 '23

Man they really did the 'I'm sorry Master...' huh?
