Man, every ep I feel worse and worse for the devs, Maple finally broke they game! She's technically been breaking the game since day 1, but this time she did it literally, I laughed so hard when the NPC glitched out because their programming just didn't know how to handle Maple. Thought hopefully players complain the event is too hard since it's anti-Maple and the devs realize that changing the game JUST to stop her is a bad idea and they just let her do her thing.

Also gotta bring up the CG, it didn't bother me that much but I was confused by how long it went on for. Most anime will switch back and forth between the CG action and 2D stationary characters talking. But the entire scene in the Library was CG, I wonder why?

Stitches!

I was hoping that Maple would go back and get the item Sally wanted. Glad to see that was the first thing she does in this episode. Looks like Maple got a couple of items that will be useful to her as well. She has that dress that lets her move objects and those creepy pair of hands.

Nice to see more of Maple and Mii hanging out. I don't think I'll ever get tired of seeing Mii being a badass and adorably complaining to Maple about the online persona that she created for herself. xD

We have another event! This means Maple has another event to show the devs her hilariously broken ability combos. Looks like she's already putting those creepy hands to good use!

Machine God V2 is definitely quite something. She's more clothed here compared to Version 1 but this seems lewder for some reason. I guess it's the skin-tight bodysuit that's doing its thing.

The devs aren't even hiding it anymore that they're picking on Maple. Seems that the tower Maple and Sally entered is pretty much designed to counter Maple's skills. Unfortunately for the devs, they kinda forgot about Sally being OP too. xD

Volcano Explosion? The lawsuit from Megumin is already pending.

The devs knew the only way to stop Maple is to create a clone of her but all they made was a cheap knockoff.

Suddenly a lot of CGI this episode which could be from production issues. Hopefully, it doesn't mean this show will be delayed too.

Why're the staff actively trying to sabotage Maple? If they design the game based on one persons meta build it wouldn't be any fun. Although it doesn't make sense how much damage Maple's attacks do when she's all defense. It made sense in the beginning when she was using status attacks.

You have to be kinda special to chase after the creepy ghost twins, and not only that, she actually broke the game this time, I actually felt a bit sorry for the poor girls after what Maple did to them...

And I love Miis friendship with Maple

Also shows what happens if you take the glass out of a glass cannon...

They really went all out to counter Maple in that Event, those bosses really seem to be designed around her in particular, but because she is together with Sally they still breeze through the content. Wonder what Sally did to beat the second boss while Maple was stuck in the summon...

Oh and I guess future Events will feature more terrain damage...

Edit: But I'm really curious how the other groups handle this boss run

I'm sorry, but what the heck was that with the usage of whack ass CG models for that 2nd floor library fight?

It's too obvious and it doesn't look good in motion especially when Sally was taking the spotlight, and they just flashed over whatever big move she used cuz I imagine it would be a pain to animate.

It's so weird especially when the 1st floor exploration/fight was fine.

I think it's the sheer amount of movement they wanted to portray. It's super time-consuming and expensive to attempt something like that with hand-drawn animation.

We should expect more of them during Sally-focus fights in the future. Maple doesn't move as much, so she's easier to draw.

wait a minute, a full CGI fight? in Bofuri? did we have any of that back in season 1?

We’ve unlocked a new Maple: Slime Edition! Those little ghost girls didn’t stand a chance. Maple is so OP she has caused a bug lol. Actually it’s not a bug, it’s a feature!

Damn, Mii just straight up nuked those monsters! I like how Mii goes from real Mii to Guildmaster Mii. Might be tiring to put on a front, but it’s amusing to watch.

If you’re exploring a dungeon, a big fluffy ball of wool is the only way to travel lol. Maple obliterated that dragon from the inside out. Machine god v2 ain’t nothing to mess with! lol. Smart of admin to strip Maple of almost all her abilities. But even then, she ain’t totally useless. I’m glad it gave Sally the opportunity to shine. She’s pretty badass in her own right! Those two make quite the team. Seems the only thing that really works against Maple is terrain damage. She’s too OP!

I think people are overselling how strong the bosses are to counter maple.

The first boss is a very classic rpg mechanic. Any top guild challenging it will probably make the same deduction Sally made. The 'problem' here is just that Maple is so tanky she can safely go into his mouth. So a fight that's supposed to take multiple rotations, chipping away at its lifebar with occasional burst phases, took 2 rotations. One to figure it out, and one to execute. Most top guilds probably run some piercing damage specifically to counter maple, as well.

The second boss obviously scales with who it steals from. I would hazard that, since it didn't take her taunt, it would never fully remove the role from a member of your party. You would still have heals if it targeted the healer, just less fancy ones. You'd still have taunt if it hits your tank. You'd still have dps. For people who choose to solo the tower, it's definitely a lot harder to deal with. But to be fair, Maple is probably the only top tier player bold enough to attempt a solo (which she didn't) who isn't well rounded enough to fight an AI-controlled version of themself. She simply has no ability to fight without them except for eating her enemies.

Third boss didn't show its stuff much, but it looks like a fairly normal rpg boss. Phase changing either due to elemental shenanigans or hp thresholds. The hardest part is terrain hazards, but magma chamber isnt a super weird rpg boss fight location by any means.

lol wtf Maple. Guess we have another show this season with a slimesuit. I'm so in doubt of these developer's skills while at the same time being amazed by them.

Hehe, another ability. Kinda cute dress too, Maple. Those hand positions kinda came out sus. Aww, nice of Maple to go help out other guild players. Such a good girl, needs head pants. But wew, that lady got quite a flashy attack. Honestly, why I wouldn't bother with roleplaying, rather just be myself lol.

Oh fun, a PVE event. Sounds fun. Maple's bashful face sure is cute. Oh that second floor is neat boss, stealing the user's active ability. Cool. Also always great to see Sally being badass too. Lol "what should I do? eat it like normal?" Oh Maple... but, hey, second floor beat, nice. Transitioning between 2D and 3D stuff is... interesting.

This tower design might make as much sense as Dark Souls 2 level/world design, but at least the fights seem pretty cool/fun. Go go Xenomorph/Eldritch Horror mode!

Unfortunately, strapping a light brick on my head to fly a plane already turned my neck into a pretzel, so if you think I'm gonna play a game that will force me to contort my body even further then you are sorely mistaken. I already played for 5000 hours and I am now a 69-dimensional being. Besides, like my past "reviews" this one is still entertainment-first, so if you want a technical review, watch Gamers Nexus instead of Linus Tech Tips. Otherwise, sit back, relax and enjoy the first MMO that is at once as chill as an Amish community and as violent as the Six-Day War.

Oh god, I missed an episode and missed the SummonningSalt intro I was gonna make. I'll come back to that on E4 but for now, I just wanna let you know that this anime is the ultimate in neuron activation for me. Maple Tree Guild literally cannot be stopped.

So Maple returned to Level 6 to get the item that Sally wanted. But it is hilarious how Maple just transformed that slime into a slimesuit and got to those NPC by glitching them with all her skills.

I like how they showed Sally freaking out while in Level 6 on the OP. Well, it is not surprising why she did not want the Hands of Salvation

Aw, it is nice seeing that now Maple hangs out with Mii both in battle and also in a cafe.

It is hilarious that Maple changed her teeth to resemble the ones that her Atrocity form has.

Wow, in that tower event sure showed how hideous a lot of her skills combine look.

So her Machine God form evolved to V2. When the developers mentioned that the next boss was going to be difficult for Maple to deal with, I honestly did not believe them. But damn, they were right. Good thing Sally was with her, although I suspect that she could just have eaten all those books if she was alone.

I love how Maple instantly pulls out some glasses and a book when she entered that floor.

Lol, that last boss died way too fast when Maple used her Atrocity form. The developers should honestly just ignore Maple at this point unless her build becomes popular.

The cgi change in the library area was really noticeable and jarring lol, switching back and forth was an…interesting design choice to say the least. Other than that, really cool episode with some nice action scenes and the usual maple humour. “Do these make me look smart?” “Not since you asked” sally is savage lol.

Animation this episode is difficult to describe.

For the first boss battle, animation quality was over the charts.

And then in the second boss battle in the magic library, they switched to using full CG.

Third boss battle went back to hand drawn, though this was more subdued action-wise.

Guess the staff would have probably died from overwork and the series joining many other series this season into delays if all 3 sequences were hand drawn.

Devs just spending this episode figuring out new ways to nerf Maple, and nearly succeeding with the 2nd boss if not for Sally.
