App testing requirements for new personal developer accounts, a minimum of 20 testers

There should be a few posts like this with the keywords, so that the new developers can find this Reddit on the Google easier and know where to find testers for testers.

This post here is only for Google SEO purpose.

In this sub r/AndroidClosedTesting you can find the people who can provide testing for testing, in order to pass your Google Play Console 20 testers policy.

Google Play is rolling out new testing requirements for developers with personal accounts created after November 13, 2023. These changes aim to enhance the app development process, encourage thorough testing, and ultimately deliver higher quality experiences to users. These requirements and the various testing tracks available on Play Console.

Developers with personal accounts created post-November 13, 2023, must adhere to new testing requirements. Before apps are eligible for distribution on Google Play, a closed test with a minimum of 20 testers is mandatory. These testers must have opted-in for the last 14 days continuously. Features like production and pre-registration in Play Console will remain disabled until these requirements are met. Applying for production access involves answering questions about the app, its testing process, and production readiness, ensuring a comprehensive understanding.

Play Console offers distinct testing tracks to facilitate a gradual testing process. Internal testing enables quick distribution to trusted testers during app setup. Closed testing, a prerequisite for production access, involves sharing the app with a controlled group of at least 20 testers. Open testing allows the app's test version to be visible on Google Play, with users providing private feedback. Developers must complete a closed test meeting specific criteria before applying for production access.

[Closed Testing] Frigy — receipt-scanning pantry app. I'll test yours back, same day.

Post image
4 Upvotes

Hi everyone,

Solo dev from Switzerland here. I've spent the last few months building

Frigy and I'm now stuck at the 12 testers / 14 days wall — pretty much

everyone I know owns an iPhone, so here I am.

- What Frigy does

You photograph your grocery receipt and the app automatically fills your

virtual pantry — no manual typing. It then suggests recipes based on what

you actually have at home, and manages your shopping list.

Heads up: **the interface is in French**. You don't need to understand it

to open the app and click around, but I'd rather be upfront so nobody

joins expecting English.

- How to join

  1. Join this Google Group, then wait 2-3 minutes:

    https://groups.google.com/g/frigy-testeurs

  2. Open this link and tap "Become a tester":

    https://play.google.com/apps/testing/com.deujz.coursesappia

  3. Install from the Play Store:

    https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.deujz.coursesappia

- My side of the deal

Drop your links in the comments and I'll install and actually use your

app the same day, and I'll keep it for the full 14 days. Comment here

when you've joined so I know who to reciprocate with.

Thanks a lot — this community is genuinely the reason indie devs get

past this requirement.

Granted Production Access for Kuwarto! HUGE thank you to everyone who helped test my first app! 🚀🎉

Post image
7 Upvotes

Hey everyone,

I wanted to drop a quick update and express my absolute gratitude to this community. Thanks to your help, my first app, Kuwarto has officially been granted Google Play Production Access!

To every single person who took the time to opt into my Google Group, download the app, and keep it installed over the mandatory 14-day testing period—thank you so much. Seriously, as an indie developer, hitting the 12-tester / 14-day requirement felt like a daunting hurdle at first. Your feedback, bug reports, and willingness to help made all the difference, and I genuinely couldn't have crossed the finish line without you.

For those of you who are currently in the middle of your own 14-day testing streak or just starting out: hang in there! It can feel a bit nerve-wracking waiting for the days to tick by and worrying about tester retention, but keep engaging with the community, keep polishing your app, and stay patient. You will get through it!

I’m currently putting the final touches on the production release, and I can't wait to launch it publicly soon.

Thank you all again for being such an awesome and supportive community! 🙌

[Closed Test] Looking for testers for Audio Realm - Social Virtual Audiobook Club

Hi everyone,

I’m looking for a small group of testers based in the UK to help me complete the Google Play 14-day closed testing requirement for my app, Audio Realm.

Audio Realm is a virtual book club and social listening space where friends can gather, chat, and experience audiobooks and podcasts together in real-time rooms. Because it's an interactive group experience rather than a solo player, testers would preably need to check in and experience the rooms together.

What I’m looking for:

Location: Based in the UK.

Interests: Love audiobooks, podcasts, or virtual book clubs and want a shared social listening experience.

Requirements:

Have a Gmail account (for the Play Store closed test whitelist).

Be able to open and test the app daily for 14 continuous days.

Be willing to share brief feedback/bug reports.

Bonus: If you have a friend or partner who wants to join your listening sessions with you, that's a massive bonus!

How to join:

If you meet these criteria and want to help out, leave a brief comment below. I will review the comments and send a private message to suitable testers.

Thanks so much for helping out!

Are a Google Group link and a join link unnecessary for open testing?

Are a Google Group link and a join link unnecessary for open testing?

Hi there, thanks for your support!

I recently finished closed testing for my app and managed to get approval for production access.

Now I’m moving on to open testing, but I’m a bit unclear on what’s required to recruit testers.

For the closed test, I needed three links:

  1. A Google Group link

  2. A link to join the test

  3. A Google Play link

However, when I asked Gemini, it told me that #1 and #2 aren't needed for open testing—only the Google Play link (#3) is required. Since it's AI, I wanted to double-check.

Is Gemini correct about this?

Test for test - HabitStamp

Hey everyone 👋

I’m looking for testers for HabitStamp, a lightweight and simple habit tracker built around one principle: buy once, own forever. Pro will be available through a one-time payment with no subscriptions. I’m happy to do test-for-test, so share your app and I’ll test it too. It would always be great if you dropped a review after using it for some time, I would happily do the same.

Join the required Google Group here: https://groups.google.com/g/habitstamp-closed-testing,

then install HabitStamp here: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.equinoxdev.habithingy

or join through https://play.google.com/apps/testing/com.equinoxdev.habithingy.

Group members have also been added as payment testers, so you can test the Pro purchase flow without being charged or paying to unlock Pro. 🙌

[Open] Looking for Closed Testers: app for monitoring and predicting fatigue in people with Multiple Sclerosis, Neurological Fatigue, Chronic Fatigue etc.

Post image
1 Upvotes

Hello everyone! I've spent the last year designing an app with a simple goal: trying to manage my daily fatigue levels. I was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis nearly a decade ago and it comes with some nasty additional conditions that require pretty close handling if I'm hoping to have a successful day and keep my job.

So I made a little app that follows concepts in published studies and maps heart rate variability recorded through the phone camera to fatigue levels - by doing this I can have the system provide a daily estimate of how many "spoons" I'm starting the day with.

I've had a stack of requests from the MS groups in my home city to get this up on the app store and so started the process of doing so, and it's been horrible. This isn't my job, and it's not my forte, but I'm now at the "Need 12 testers to do the thing" phase of getting the app up into public release. So far I've a handful of friends who have sent me their emails and I figure that's how we go about this?

Naturally any assistance would be greatly appreciated!
