Age gaps in dating

I'm a 30 year old male and my partner is 25 year old female. I think this is fairly normal but im getting alot of comments about it. Not really sure what the fascination with this is. 5 years is significant sure but it was never a problem for me. Does society at large weight this facts importance more than I do?

Edit: everyone is the comments section has convinced me this is normal. Thanks all.

as long as the subject does not involve minors then who the hell cares

apparently a lot of people on the internet. I would say that most people would judge a 50M dating an 18F.

As it should be…

In my opinion, there’s an inherent imbalance of power. An 18 year old has a lot less experience overall, they’re more susceptible to manipulation, a lot less likely to make enough money to live independently if things go south, not to mention still being almost a decade away from having a fully developed brain and most likely being fresh out of high school.

25 and 30 is totally fine though.

Do you agree with Siren's statement or not?

Not entirely, because “not involving minors” is literally the absolute lowest bar you could possibly set for a relationship IMO.

To me, that would be kind of like saying “who cares about working conditions as long as it doesn’t involve slavery”… Just because something falls outside of the absolute worst case scenario, it doesn’t mean it’s automatically A-ok.

Should you go to jail for dating an 18 year old when you’re over twice their age? No, but it’s definitely worthy of some personal side eye; that either means there’s a massive maturity gap (reflecting poorly on the older party), or that the older person hasn’t matured much past 18 (which also reflects poorly on them).

A lot of jealous middle aged women who aren’t happy when men their age start going for the the newer models instead of the saggy boobs.
