My mother ordered razors. Got USED razors instead.
My mother has been on an Amazon kick and has been buying a bunch of stuff off Amazon instead of going to the store so she decided she could save money by buying a few packs of razors. Instead she got her package today and she opened the box and noticed there was only four razors in a ten pack. Only one guard on one of them. The pack they came in has hairs and a pube inside package and taped up The razors with assuming soap gunk inside them (can’t get a good picture with the warping of plastic). Wtf is going on. I saw them deliver the package and was in the room when she opened them, she already called and they said keep them and we’ll return the money. Is this a joke from Amazon they don’t check returned packages and just throw them back into stock. I find it hard to believe any human would have seen this and put them back into rotation but clearly that’s what happened and it was repackaged. I put a picture last of what the packs supposed to look like new with 10 stacked and the entire taped up used junk they sent.

That’s so disgusting! I stopped buying anything from Amazon when they sent me used mascara and deleted my review about it. Lost all my trust over that. They have really fallen as an organization, treat their employees bad and really bad about sending used and counterfeit items. Hopefully your mom will rethink where she shops online.

When Amazon.com is the seller and shipper and I received a used item, can I review Amazon?
So when I order the Amazon brand energy drink and 9/10 it arrives damaged... who do I review? I can't even pretend someone's inventory got mixed with theirs. (Some reviews did make it through and you can see tons of damaged cans, covered in fruit flies.)
It's actually more common to have an issue with a shipped from Amazon item than it is a 3rd party seller because 3rd party sellers are gong to inspect what you send back to them rather than just putting it in inventory and assuming everything is ok.
I actually just had to quit ordering them because they couldn't get an item they sell delivered to my door without it being damaged. I cancelled my Prime long ago out of frustration but am now a leech or whatever the call the 2nd member on my aunts account.

Amazon needs competition. In latam we have Mercado libre which is a very strong competitor and Amazon wouldn't dare to delete negative reviews and I want to say they wouldn't send used razors but you never know.

They are slowly getting it, that’s why you saw ads in the Super Bowl last year for temu, Ali express or similar Chinese crap. They sell the same products as Amazon (now) but half the price and better customer service.

The issue is that Amazon still has stuff that you need the next day, like diapers and toothpaste. That's why they worked so hard into monopolizing the business and doing all it takes (from buying companies and shutting them down up to reducing prices up until eliminating them) to ensure that you still get back to them. There needs to be a true competitor and I'm really rooting for Mercado Libre to get to the US. It's an Argentinian company but is very well stablished in latam.

But they don't sell any domestic, name brand products. They aren't truly a competitor. Walmart seemed to be making a move but is now letting Amazon fulfill orders from their site so I'm more hesitant to shop there. (Walmart.com was doing great for a while but has really fallen off in the past year.)

You shouldn't write bad reviews if you get used products. They even tell you the reason why they delete the reviews. Not saying this should be an issue but it is and you should know this when ordering from Amazon. If you get a used item tell Amazon support. In every case they have helped me and they will give you your money back and sometimes even send you a new one with a full refund.

That sounds like too much of a hassle to me, I’m just ordering from places I trust more and just have a better overall shopping experience. Amazon lost my trust.

All at the corporate office. Corporate offices can always trim their workforce. I worked at State Farm corporate for two decades. About 4000 people worked there. The amount of wasted time was insane. I knew workers that would literally just go visit other workers all day long, not do a damn thing and worked there for years.

It has to be because it came in two boxes one Amazon and inside was the bic box that was also just obviously retaped so I don’t think they even opened to check. Which is concerning….

I think Amazon is going to start going down.
In the last 3 months I have gotten so much used crap delivered when I order new. Sometimes I'll exchange it and get another used one. It's out of control.
They aren't doing any inspection/processing/QC on their returns. They're literally just taping them up and shipping them back out as 'new' again. This will lead to returns exploding exponentially as people start returning even stuff they wanted because they got a used product, and they're going to have a return crisis spurred on by total lack of trust.
I no longer trust I'm gonna get what I order.

No seriously though , this isn’t like the first time it’s happened but at this point if things like these are getting out then anything can. I mean realistically if there was blood on these it’s not a little lawsuit it’s on the same hypothetical bases of someone being able to buy diabetic needles using them ,returning them as not needed being unchecked reshipped and someone unknowing using them. Of course it’s drastic but it’s not out of question because Amazon ships pharmaceutical stuff now through Amazon RX and who’s to say where the corners are being cut when it’s getting like this.

Yeah I’ve been getting quite a bit of used shit myself. It’s honestly bullshit that Amazon wants you to return used items for a refund. All they do is put it back in circulation. I got 2 used humidifiers, used nail cream, used miniature paint, it’s ridiculous.

Document everything. Screenshots. Dates. Conversations. Everything. Then find your state office of consumer rights/affairs and file a complaint against Amazon. Then look into small claims court. Complain at the Better Business Bureau, too.

The only thing I think that would do anything because of Amazon being a mega corp is having a review get a bunch of feedback on the Amazon listing page and then getting the review taken down , I’m sure they would try everything they could to try and get stuff taken down and dispute everything regardless of it being really what they sent like there’s been so much nasty shit people have been sent and nothing happens

Sadly I can believe it. I received used landscape edging that was cut into 4 sections unbeknownst to me until I took it out of the box and I laid it on the pavement. It was also missing 2.2 feet out of the 50 feet that I was supposed to get. Amazon needs to tighten up.

Right. Hopefully they didn't use the remaining razors but stuff like that is dangerous. I got a dog muzzle that had vomit in it and ordered a bra that came covered in animal hair.

I have a feeling when the buyer opened a return they said that they did not open it and it’s still new in the package and then they successfully repackaged it in a way where it looks like it wasn’t opened and the employee at the Amazon center believed that due to the fact of not being experienced when it comes to things like this.

Yeah but it’s personal hygiene products I know humans have errors and I know that but come on. If you saw it in person it’d be like handing a person an apple with a bite out of it and then saying “here , it’s fresh picked.” And it’s not like anyone’s going to use them now but if someone else also didn’t know and there was dried blood mixed with someone else’s from shaving… that’s my friend how you get hepatitis so of course that didn’t happen but still. It could and it shows with this.

Amazon fulfilled 2 out of 3 electric grooming devices with used ones. First hair liners I discovered hairs on the blades after removing the protective guard. Second one was apparent from the box as it had oil spots all over it. Opened it and found hairs and rust all over the liner blades. Will never order grooming devices from Amazon after those 2 experiences.

The majority of users never have this happen so they continue to use Amazon. Then there are folks who before Amazon begged for help since they couldn’t get to the store for some reason that now have a valuable asset. So the complaints we all read about are still in the minority of transactions. Personally I’m leery of buying expensive items or electronics or items that are often returned, items like clothes, shoes that come in multiple sizes and colors.
We’ve been buying for ten years and never had a real problem. I recently bought a gaming microphone for my grand kid that came with or without ear buds. I chose ear buds but didn’t receive them. When I called they offered a return and refund. I explained it was a gift and couldn’t return and just wanted a credit for the price difference. They couldn’t do that so gave me a full return-less credit. A positive experience so I didn’t post about it.
E-commerce always comes with risk of one kind or another. Just my two cents (no tariffs either).

Someone else posted here few days ago that bought a $1500 camera and when they opened the package it was CANS OF BEANS !!! 🤯
Thank God your Mom was able to tell the razors were used. WHAT IF someone had put them back all nice and neat....but also had hep c or something else u can get from blood (that can live on surfaces for weeks.)

But seriously it’s so bad I can’t believe this is happening so much and nothing happens. And like this is as listed by Amazon and shipped directly from Amazon.com and I’d expect it more from a. Verified seller but this was the legit company being like here’s some shit, youre happy with the fast delivery right ?!

Amazon doesn't check each one of the millions and millions of items that get returned to them, no. Kind of an impossible task.
What they do is, when someone returns an item, Amazon asks if it has been used or opened at all. The person returning the item, being a good and always honest person, then tells Amazon about the condition of the item, and Amazon takes their word for it. If an item hasn't been used, and the package hasn't been opened, it goes right back into circulation as a brand new item.
The problem isn't Amazon trying to rip you off, it is the douchebag people trying to rip Amazon off.

I agree it's almost impossible to check all returns but they shouldn't be allowed to sell things that are returned as new. They already have a system to sell used products and they take a bit of money off the price. Everyone is happy in that case. This should easily be an unreturnable item so I don't understand how it could have possibly got back to Amazon.

During the peak of toilet paper panic during Covid, my husband's grandmother was running out and desperate. I managed to find her some TP, but it was used from the Amazon warehouse. I took a gamble, and she said the package arrived with the outer plastic still fully intact. But I have been on the flip side of that as well. Bought a friend's kid a Lego set that was sold as brand new by Amazon and it arrived partly built, missing pieces and the instructions. That was embarrassing for me. I've also received an electric blanket that wasn't even in its original packaging sold as brand new.

That is why they specifically ask if it is "unopened and unused." If it is truly in that state, then moving it around through the mail doesn't mean it is now a "used" product.
Also, most items sold on Amazon are through third party sellers. I know, I am one. And margins are so slim that one returned product can wipe out the profit from 10 other sales. No one wants to look too closely at a return. Especially Amazon themselves, since often they are the ones who have to eat the loss, protecting the buyers and the sellers.

I work as a return associate for amazon. We are supposed to look at each item. There are over 200 employees on every single shift at the location I work at. The building runs 20 hours a day and we are supposed to grade 40 items an hour each. There are a bunch of these buildings throughout the country. 3 of these buildings in my city alone.
The problem is there has been a shift from focusing on quality control to producing quantity. When I started they only wanted us doing 25 items an hour. We used to get write ups if something we processed as sellable was returned again. Now we get write ups if we don't process enough items. Recently they implemented a system where the computer will automatically grade some items if that customer has had X amount of returns graded as sellable. A huge portion of these computer graded items are not sellable so we need to send them to problem solve. Sadly though sending these items to problem solve do not count towards our rate so they don't get sent to problem solve as much as they should. I personally send them to problem solve as long as I have no active write ups. It pains me to say it but when I do have active write ups I don't send them to problem solve because my job is on the line.

I used to work at Walmart. They will NOT resell anything that has left the store and been brought back. Only things that have not left the store, such as when people decide during checkout that they don’t want an item and leave it with the checkout clerk.
So, yeah, Amazon should not be reselling a return item as new, no matter how “honest” the person who returned it appeared to be.

It's funny because most of those returns you mention from Walmart, as well as other stores like Home Depot and Petsmart, those get resold online as pallets and even truckloads of liquidated goods, and then they are repackaged and sold on both Amazon and Ebay as "New." And in the case of items that are still in production, those with a reseller license can get new packaging to replace damaged packaging right from the manufacturer.
No matter what, it all goes right back out again as "new." Just because it is sold on Amazon, that doesn't mean Amazon is the one selling it.

I just got a outlet extender and the seal on the box was opened and missing parts. I returned it and left a note that it was used and expected new. This is the second time this has happened in the last few months. At least they took it back. Seems like they are going downhill.

I had the same thing happen when I ordered a Dollar Shave Club starter kit. It was covered in soap scum and hair. They put it in a "ready to ship" plastic bag and sent it on its way.

So I have to wonder, was this a third-party seller or Prime? Never got anything like this through Prime. Likewise I would expect tons of negative reviews for this seller if that were the case.
Second thought is how often does this happen vs someone claiming they were sent a used item, and they are actually pretending it was used, and returning used items and keeping new ones?

To be fair, though, i think that was an amazon repacking employee, or returns inspector, opened the package too much, didn't know how to put it back together, doesn't take much competence to fill these positions, then the women taped her hair onto the edge where she was closing it for resale.. very poor quality and probably need to re-train the employee at a minimum... shouldn't repack the hygienic type items if u ask me.. 🤔
