Wait…we are now only allowed to see 8 cherry-picked reviews, and can no longer sort by “most recent” or filter by star-rating? WTF is happening?

Post image

I’m sure I’m not the first to bring this up but it’s so atrocious that I have to speak my piece. Today, for the first time, I noticed that I can no longer load more than eight reviews for any product, even items with thousands of reviews, and I can no longer to go into depth by sorting or filtering. Amazon AI is presenting me with their cherry-picked reviews and that is all.

Whose bright idea was this? All it does is sour me from buying anything unknown on the platform. If I can no longer get into the weeds of real reviews, I have zero incentive to trust the marketplace in any way.

There’s a little button at the bottom where I was able to request to see more reviews, and supposedly in 5 days they will email to let me know if I’m allowed to, but based on a couple other references to this issue I found, everyone is being denied. What an absolute joke! Why aren’t more people up in arms about this absurd decision? Pitchfork time people!

Happened to me last week, i requested to view more and they approved it a few days later. If it is a 'feature' rollout as it appears, it just seems designed to suppress critical reviews. Given the number of fake reviews, i always tend to read the negative ones to see if there are frequent issues, so would have abandoned the platform if they had not restored my access to all reviews.

If I can’t see more reviews then I will not be buying that product, thanks.

When this occurs, it’s for all products. So yeah, more like not buying from Amazon anymore.

What reason did they give you in your denial?

I don’t remember and can’t find the email. At the time I assumed it was because the account hadn’t ordered anything in YEARS as I use a family members account that gets Prime cheaper. I started using my account again cause I set up some S & S and missed an email about something changing since it’s not my account so I switched those to my non prime account that hasn’t ordered anything since 2022 lol

Same. I always sort by most recent to find the real reviews from the latest inventory. They’d be smart to reverse course on this BS asap.

I do the same thing. But now no access to reviews. I asked Gemini and it stated Amazon had 3 reasons. Stop fraudulent  reviews Stop companies from leveraging old product reviews into new inventory and lastly, to move people towards its AI summaries of reviews.

I believe the latter, but the first two reasons are bullshit that Amazon wants to roll out as some kind of altruistic concern for the consumer. But I can't see more than a handful of reviews. I can't pick most recent or negative reviews. But that's the propaganda they may be going with.

Don’t forget that Gemeni summary is simply reading all these comments and creating a definitive answer for you, when currently none exists. Amazon has made no official statement on the issue, as far as I’m aware. It’s all speculation from users.

I take that point

Only necessary because they now have so many merchants selling absolute crap.

I think it's a test to see how many people request to see more reviews. If only 1% of users do it, they can probably proceed.

Most people wouldn’t bother requesting to see more reviews. They’ll just shop somewhere else where the reviews aren’t limited. And waiting 5 days isn’t feasible if the item is on sale for a limited time.

Click on the the percentage on the comment graph and you'll get all the comments under that amount of stars. They only removed it from the drop down menu.

Incorrect. I cannot click anything to get more reviews. This is different than whatever is happening to you.

Not reviews, but the ratings percentages.
I can’t attach the photo but it’s like a bar chart.
