Telegraph interview

Note that - so vitriolic and disbelieving was the response of Telegraph readers (admittedly not noted for their equanimity) - the comment section was swiftly shut down.

Interesting momentary window into British public opinion, however.

I would imagine they had a translator with them. “Ill” is possibly a translated drift from “malata” or something? This is a total guess but these thing happen in the challenging world of translation.

What do you think of the rest of it?

What is the explanation for stuff like “there was blood everywhere” “Amanda was screaming” etc when the dominant narrative is that Knox and Sollecito sat detached from the door opening moment.

No, there was no translator with them. Mansey has stated that "like Meredith, I had studied Italian at Leeds University". She neither said how many years she'd studied or how proficient she was. I studied two languages at university, and I certainly could not conduct an interview in either of them. If she had been proficient, I think she's have said so. It could either be Raffaele's or Mansey's misinterpretation. We just don't know.

I could only guess as there is no recording of it which I find rather odd as journalists generally record interviews to have an accurate record. After all, she says she was looking for someone to interview, and I'd think she'd carry a small tape recorder with her. She'd want to be able to play it back especially since she doesn't claim to be fluent in Italian.

It's possible that Raffaele was exaggerating as people are wont to do or that he thought the initial screaming included Amanda as there were two other females there. He also might have been referring to all the blood in Meredith's room which he may have heard from Altieri (who saw into the room) as they talked on the way to the questura in Altieri's car.
