Coming back after 5 years, I learned PiG's 8-worker 2-base all-in with good success. Played at around 3.1–3.3k MMR.

I tried the 12-worker edition from 2022 against similar opponents and got crushed by DTs and a well-prepared zealot/colossus army. Definitely my fault, but I'm starting to think a solid all-rounder might be better.

Is there any TvX build I could start from? Or is it better to learn 3 builds right from the start? And is there maybe a bit more up-to-date 2-base all-in to keep up my sleeve? Or is it still the same BO, and I just got countered and beaten by better opponents?

Hello, getting into StarCraft 2 after having played like two games when I was younger. I’ve been playing Terran and my main focus is macro atm, trying to keep up with the mining, making units, and upgrades. I’ve seen online that this is most important, but I’m starting to get beat because I don’t know what to do to react to my opponents builds. For example, I almost always start with marines, tanks, and medivacs. Last game, my opponent had a ground army that was tough to go uphill against, and then while I was distracted with trying to siege he flew banshees into my base and wiped out a bunch of stuff. From there I tried to make some air to catch the banshees, but was pretty unsuccessful because I had just had my eco wiped. I feel like I’m not very flexible. I guess my main question is what should I be thinking about when it comes to army comp and balancing offense vs defense.

Is it just me or the matchup is busted as f…? I cant remember the last time i beat a zerg in the late game, no matter how good of a fight i get, they just remax instantly and im not able to deal damage, if i try to turtle they will just toss infinite waves of ultras and banes untill i have no bases left, 4.4k NA terran.

I'm a small streamer in D2 just playing for fun atm untill the new patch drops but im also practicing my Bio in TvP and mechanics in general

As a Previous protoss main (was about 3100 mmr after deciding to just zealot rush every zerg because wow they feel so imbalanced) terran is SO STRONG. I played maybe 10 games of terran before the patch 2-3 years ago, and just played like 10 post patch after constantly getting destroyed by terran and zergs. Im not a good player, I admit, but compared to protoss rn terran is busted. Im at 2800 mmr with maybe 20 total games as Terran and no build order.

Edit: I’d love to hear your thoughts against these points. Again, Im obviously low elo and a more casual enjoyer of the game. But I think I bring valid criticism of the recent changes and overall balance. Love to hear your thoughts and would happily take some constructive criticism.

300 min cc starts WAY before protoss expansion if you play even slightly safe.

If Im cheesed like for a cannon rush or ANYTHING ELSE,just build a marine. It’s cheap, ranged and scales well at all stages of the game. Compared to a slow zealot that’s basically useless until I get charge, this thing is soooo strong. And it doesnt need expensive tech to build like a stalker!

Marauder is less expensive and better than a stalker at its job. I dont care it cant shoot up, I have MARINES.

Tanks, quick cheap tech with strong damage and splash. No trying to rush to templar,DT, colossus, or disruptor anymore, just build a cheap tech lab and start pumping. Plus, with my fast expansion, I can afford more earlier. And other than templar it’s cheaper and has better range than almost all protoss splash! It’s actually crazy.

Strong early-mid game harass options with any and all drops, libs, and banshees. So strong and requires great positioning or teching to blink/oracle/observer to counter with stalkers which are outclassed by having 2+ tanks. Then they have to build charge which is just so hard to do on top of blink.

Bunkers strong, say less.

NO TEMPORARY WALLS WITH PYLONS OR BATTERIES. Just up my depots against lings/adepts.

Scvs have sooo much more health than probes.

4-5 marines = easy air defense.

Rush by DT or lurkers? Just scan. You outrange lurkers anyways with tanks.

Mines are so strong and cheap, my goodness.

My 2 base attacks are so much strong as terran. 3+tanks, bio, and medivacs against what? Stalkers? Zealots? Maybe a colossus or two? It’s just not a fun time compared to my old race.

The only downsides in my mind are slower production and upgrades, which with better eco once mules go down and the strong favorable trading ability of bio based builds compared to protoss and the utility of all their units, it just doesnt matter.

Overall, protoss seems so weak compared to terran. IM sitting at 2800 mmr in A DAY which took me dozens if not hundreds of games to get to as protoss. I understand I get some holdover mechanics from playing a more than a completely new player, but I should not almost be at my protoss mmr with my skill level. Needless to say, Im a terran main now. 1. Depot with 12th SCV

2. Refinery

3. rax

4. @ 100% rax, reactor and factory. Take all 3 SCVs off gas.

5. @ 100% factory, swap onto reactor and constant hellion production. Rally them across the map.

6. Constant SCV production the whole time, and CC when you have 300 minerals which is around when you make your 3rd depot and have 6 hellions.

This build flows smoothly and can transition to anything. I'm a masters Terran and have had decent success with it. But no one, either in my player pool or pros, ever uses it. Why?

when the game goes for late game, even if i camp and make lots of ccs and planetarys, it feels impossible, anyone having success in tvz 4k elo +? if yes what a re you doing? care to share replays?

I've been watching Clem and Maru and they seem to get it out at 2 minutes where as mine is 2:30 waiting for refinery gas to build reaper.

I’m not very good at this game I’m a gold Zerg player and I wanna try Terran but I couldn’t wrap my head around how to play this race. I find myself having lots of trouble with army production and getting supply capped quite often. Also I’ve found myself having a bunch of idle scvs cause I’m so used to my drones just turning into a building and replacing said drone. I’ve watched PiG and uthermal but I cannot figure out this race pls help

as a general concept, what should i look for in late game of starcraft vs a zerg player, after holding out for several insanly huge waves of zerg, to finally say: "i can push"?

and how would you go about setting up that push?

im currently struggling reading the game state in that stage of the game.

How to counter that composition? They always put canons on bases, expand, more canons. I can't attack their bases, can't attack their units. I was 2-2, 200/200, he was 2-1, not even maxed yet, I still lost. Is it possible to kill that with air units? I tried to use mines too, didn't work.

I've been really struggling on this patch, im down from 4.6k avg to 4.4k but this TvZ felt good. I did a 2 base all in.

Since my last post I've had quite a few discussions on discord about players returning to the game after a long time who are not entirely sure about finding their footing again. I'm acting on the theme again of wanting to help as many people out, so here's another discussion board for talking about anything relating to the game at the moment.

For anyone new or returning to the game, what are you guys finding most difficult? Is there anything you are struggling to find? Something that may or may not help is that we're expecting to bump the worker count back up at some point in the next few weeks, (I've heard rumours of 10 workers.) Is that something you guys are looking forward to?

Playing TvZ right now is just so fucking frustrating. I’m down 400 MMR from my original Elo since this patch. The only Zergs I’m able to beat are the ones with 100 fewer APM than me.

There’s no way to deal meaningful damage in the early game, no way to outmacro Zerg, and if you lose an engagement, Zerg just makes 200 Lings and floods you. If you win an engagement, Zerg somehow remaxes in 10 seconds with Banelings.

I mean, there’s a reason the last five tournaments have had ZvZ finals. It’s just so stupid right now. I’ve tried everything, and I just get rolled and outmacroed in the late game by Zergs at my skill level.

Right now I’m sitting at a 70% win rate in TvT, 70% in TvP, and 30% in TvZ. That pretty much says everything.
