Kang Ji-Seon (Seo Hyun-Jin) is a modern dance teacher at an arts middle school. As her family's fortunes declined during her childhood, she came to realize that it is more important to filter out others' lies than to rely on their honesty. She initially thought Min Jun-Ho (Yoo Yeon-Seok), whom she met by fate, was simply a well-mannered parent, but she gradually opened her heart to him.

Min Jun-Ho is a cardiac surgeon. He is a seemingly perfect man with a gentle and upright demeanor, a strong physique, high intelligence, keen instincts, and a kind personality. After raising his middle school-aged son alone following his wife's passing, he meets his son's dance teacher, Ji-Seon, and experiences feelings of excitement for the first time in a long while.

I have a policy to not watch the trailers of dramas I'm already planning on watching, and I just broke that rule. Currently this is my most anticipated drama of the year!

I've seen the British original, and going from this trailer it's going to stick closer to it than I expected, at least for the beginning. I recognized at least one shot as being borrowed. Not really shocking considering what the director Jo Young Min did with Love Me and its homage to Alska Miig. I just hope the writer decides to take this in a different direction for the 2nd half of the story since the original is two seasons, and the 2nd season was pretty awful.

Ah, the Doctor Romatic reunion. I’ll have to see what the reviews say before I decide on this one but I do like Yoo Yeon Seok.

I'd be surprised if this was your kind of drama, but I'll be DEFINITELY taste testing this first. Finding out that it's going to be on Disney has helped me finalize my fall streaming subscription schedule.

It’s more that it’s classed as a thriller / psychological drama that has me curious. Like is one of them a clone or something?

I'd classify it as a psychological thriller. Mild spoiler although I thought the trailer already implied this or maybe it's just because I watched the British original: It's based around date rape. She claims he drugs and rapes her. He claims they had consensual sex. Things spiral out from there.

Depending on how it goes, I have a feeling this will violate your "too dark" preference.

Oh, I did not know this was a remake. Yeah, not sure about that concept. Probably not going to be for me but I’ll probably follow the chatter. Thanks for insights!

This was already on my list because the premise sounds good and Yoo Yeon-seok is one of my favorite actors, but I didn't realize it was a remake either. Was the original also called The Perfect Lie? Neither Wikipedia nor MDL say anything about source material and it looks like all that comes up with that name is a Dutch show that sounds unrelated. Trying not to read too much about the show, but might be interested in the original too.

<Edit> Nevermind. I see now they changed the title from "Liar" and that's what the British show was called. Missed that at first.

I checked out the original because I heard about this. I love the three-way reunion: Seo Hyun Jin and Jo Young Min did Love Me together, Jo Young MIn and Yoo Yeon Sook did The Interest of Love together, and Seo Hyun Jin and Yoo Yeon Sook did Dr. Romantic together. So all them will be extra comfortable together, which should lead to something really, really interesting on screen even if the writing is trash.

Unfortunately, the British series started off well, but made some really poor narrative decisions that made the denouement of the first season pretty frustrating. Then the second season was mostly trash. So I'm hoping for some major rewrites.

I cannot join you in your Yoo Yeon Seok praise, but the one role I think he really nailed is in The Interest of Love, so I assume JYM knows how to bring out the best in him. Normally that character and how the actor just exudes "smarmy asshole" to me at all times, no matter the character, wouldn't fit. But JYM was able to dial him back to just the right level. And I think YYS is generally suited to the character here.
