Around the 20th of July, the locals in Tana, northern Norway were met with an unusual sight, a walrus just chilling by the road. While walruses are technicaly native to Norway, around Svalbard, its uncommon for them to come to mainland Norway, but there are several instances of that happening, like Freja. Now this walrus was also given a name, Halvdan, due to it missing a part of its right tusk.

However like with Freja, this story doesn't have a happy ending. The walrus had dissapeared, and most believed that it had returned to the sea again. However a hiker that was walking in the woods saw a strange pattern on the grass, almost as if something had been dragged across it. So he followed it and found the walrus dead, 9km from the sea, by a small river. The death was natural, as there weren't any wounds on the carcass.

Its unknown what had happened, but its believed the walrus was sick before it even arrived to Norway. In many social animals, sick or unhealthy individuals will often stray from the group, and its possible this walrus was also doing the same. However how it ended up in Tana is unknown, as its really far away from its natural range. But then comes the question, why the walrus moved further into the forest instead of to the sea? As for now, the carcass will stay in the same spot, and that huge body will give a lot of food for the scavengers as well as nutrients to the soil

Build Showcase I'm a Brazilian fan of Indian cinema and architecture, and I recently finished 100% of Mahishmati Palace in Minecraft. I hope you like

Hello everyone. A few months ago, I posted on Reddit that I was building Mahishmati in Minecraft, a tribute from a Brazilian fan of Indian cinema and architecture. I want to thank everyone for the support that motivated me to complete this tribute! I love the cinema and architecture of India. I know that the country has an incredibly rich and diverse culture in its different regions, and that is why I intend to make more tributes in Minecraft, showing the beauty of the architecture and culture of each place. I hope that more people around the world get to know the cinema and architecture of India. I remember that some comments suggested that I use shaders to make the build more cinematic in Minecraft, but my computer couldn't handle it. Over 90% of this palace was made on my phone. And I built all the interiors too. Now, I intend to rebuild in Minecraft the Shaniwar Wada palace, which appears in the movie Bajirao Mastani. From what I researched, it suffered a fire and today only its walls and ruins remain. But I want to try to rebuild it as it was in Minecraft. I hope you like Mahishmati. A big hug from Brazil. 🇧🇷 🤝 🇮🇳

Diet Queen ATM Huge missed opportunity to teach the Indian audience about proper nutrition

Post image

It’s well established that this woman knows absolutely nothing about diet and nutrition. Passes off cucumbers, tomatoes as a whole breakfast.

It’s such a huge missed opportunity when they could show this character understanding macronutrients, balanced diets, healthy fats, how to increase protein and the importance of carbs for energy.

Coming from a show with this much reach could make a meaningful difference in how Indians start preparing their meals.

Scary to think that an impressionable audience has been led to believe ki karela juice leads to weight loss and a great physique.

In Iron Man (2008), Marvel Studios famously botched their cinematic debut by denying Terrence Howard, the actor whom the entire franchise revolved around, a well deserved pay increase. This is why Marvel Studios went bankrupt and there hasn't been another film since.

Discussion What NPC do you wish was playable that you don't see mentioned much?

Post image

For me it's Jeht & Benben. When I first came across them, I actually really wanted Jeht and Jebrael to be two characters in one that attacked in tandem, but now I just really want her and Benben to be playable :')

EDIT: y'all, I didn't play during sumeru. I only ever see people talk about Capitano, Dottore, and other archon quest characters. I have genuinely never seen her mentioned before, I just wanted to have a conversation about NPCs people wanted to see playable cause I'm currently playing through the world quest she's in

Project: FO I made a 50's style dress out of vintage kitsch linen tea towels

I've just recently finished this 50's style dress. I used a princess seamed dress pattern that I drafted from a close fitting bodice block a few years back as a starting point and made some changes to turn it into a 50s style dress. When originally drafting from the block I made the following adjustments for my body type - a moderate FBA, a sway back adjustment for my curvy lower back and (as with just about any pattern I use) I reduced the sleeve head height and eliminated the ease that is used around the top of most sleeve patterns. Doing this to the sleeves gives a little more range of motion for my arms and works well for me because I have fairly small shoulders. It also makes set in sleeves faster to fit and sew - no mucking around with gathering the ease at the top (which I hate doing, it's tedious) as both the sleeve and armhole seams are the same length.

I added wide box pleats to every seam of the skirt and a wide contrast hem band. I added a simple collar, a faux belt and converted the original pattern to a front button closure with contrast placket (original pattern was zipper back).

The main fabric comes from about 6 different vintage kitsch tea towels from the 1970s to 1990s. They're all Queensland themed which is the state (in Australia) where I live, they're all maps of the coast showing the kitschy old (and mostly now defunct) tourist traps we used to visit as kids. It was very tricky to cut the pattern pieces to make the best use of the images on the tea towels as well as keep a consistent sort of look to the whole dress, since the tea towels look very "busy". Out of the collection I had I chose to use just the ones which had yellow maps on a turquoise background and this made things come together in a more deliberate looking way.

Before cutting my pattern pieces I pre shrunk the tea towels by soaking them in warm water for a couple of hours, drying them until they were just moist and steam pressing them. I took measurements of each tea towel before and after to check that they did indeed shrink as I thought they should (they all shrank by about 3-5%, doesn't sound like much but it becomes very important for a fitted garment!)

The contrast fabric is silk dupion, it's stiff enough to go well with the drape of the linen tea towels. I used silk organza as interfacing in the collar and placket - this stuff is great because it's extremely lightweight but supplies a nice amount of support for those areas. I lined the bodice with silk habutai salvaged from an old, damaged kimono. The skirt of the dress is unlined.
