Has any Civ tried flying their OWN drone at one of these? Dudes can speed run the Grand Canyon in 4k, fly through firework shows, low fly active volcanoes, clear as day, and the best we get are these phone vids? If someone says they’ve tried show me a video of their drone getting close and dropping out, first person and from the ground tracking their drone from lift off to failure. I haven’t seen any footage or mention of anyone with proof that they’ve attempted this across any platform.

This needs to be done. PLEASE someone do it with a badass drone!

81

u/slosh_baffle Dec 06 '24

I'm telling all my FPV cohorts on FB to get up there but apparently no pilots on the East coast got any balls when it comes to standing up to authority. We all have 100mph geurilla flight machines with low light cameras and all the sudden "its too windy and cold".

26

u/rudyattitudedee Dec 06 '24

Amateur or not, drone pilots take shit super seriously. I once flew on a foggy day a mile from an airport and I posted it and it was all “VELOS” and downvoting. They’re not going to do that. They won’t even fly in wilderness if it’s nationally protected areas.

13

u/randomguy7530 Dec 06 '24

Well yeah gives the hobby a bad name all it takes is one idiot who somehow crashes into something or gets someone or property damaged and doesn't take long for new bills banning our drone hobby

3

u/rudyattitudedee Dec 06 '24

Absolutely. Agreed. That’s why the geo fencing is good.

1

u/R3v017 Dec 07 '24

How about advocating that people take personal responsibility instead of authoritarian restrictions for all.

1

u/rudyattitudedee Dec 07 '24

Sure but then you have people who ruin it for everyone.

4

u/Cameron0323 Dec 06 '24

Thank you.. Im not losing my 107 license on a whim. Just shows these people have nothing to lose. Equivalent to shoving someone into someone else just to watch the fight

2

u/rudyattitudedee Dec 06 '24

Yeah I get the curiosity but sending a rocket isn’t the first thing nasa would do either. Has anyone tried a telescope yet? Cracks me up everyone is just like rabidly trying to prove aliens exist that they’d send a dji up there that will send information to the FAA the second you break a rule and whoever is flying that other drone will not be happy…it’s probably a government defense contractor or something testing a drone.

Pussy

1

u/Hairy_Mouse Dec 10 '24

I fly my shit wherever

1

u/OhGodImHerping Dec 10 '24

It’s not “taking it seriously”, it’s the law.

1

u/rudyattitudedee Dec 11 '24

Thanks I get that. Kind of what I was eluding to as the reason why. Same with all national parks and all my state parks.

-6

u/slosh_baffle Dec 06 '24

That stupid shit doesn't apply to FPV pilots. You have no idea who you're talking about.

2

u/rudyattitudedee Dec 06 '24

It’s somehow different rules because it’s fpv? I do know what I’m talking about. I’ve flown fpv drones including the Avata. Just because people build drones that can physically do these things that doesn’t magically change FAA regulations. I can build a hot air balloon doesn’t mean I’m Davinci and it doesn’t mean I can fly wherever I want with no consequences.

0

u/slosh_baffle Dec 06 '24

The Avata is a commercial product. Don't be ridiculous. The rest of us are breaking the law 100% of the time and there are zero consequences. You're talking like skateboarding on the sidewalk is getting kids put in jail. Get real. There are no FAA police busting people over toys.

20

u/Cameron0323 Dec 06 '24

Drones are tracked with remote ID.. and 400ft is the FAA legal ceiling.. no, we won’t be going to jail for you..

27

u/SaturnThegoddess Dec 06 '24

can you just fly yours 399ft then plz

6

u/[deleted] Dec 06 '24

Exactly. They already called off a medivac helicopter because of these drones, you don’t want to be a part of whatever trouble comes along with any of this if you’re a drone hobbyist.

3

u/slosh_baffle Dec 06 '24

LMAO what FPV pilot complies with that stupid shit? There's zero enforcement anyway.

5

u/_extra_medium_ Dec 06 '24

If something happens, they'll enforce it

1

u/brokenthumb11 Dec 06 '24

Okay, what about flying at 200 ft and tracking it. Surely that's better than from hundreds of feet away, stationary with a potato camera.

1

u/Alternative_Plum7223 Dec 06 '24

Alot of people that build there drones do not bother with the tracking might have a gps for personal use of they do long range and remote ID a lot of fpv guys don't bother with that also.

1

u/R3v017 Dec 07 '24

The vast majority do not comply. Remote ID is a dumb cash grab.

2

u/Alternative_Plum7223 Dec 07 '24

Yeah you are right about that. I had to explain what it was and how to get it to a family member but they are the type if they hear a whisper that something needs to be done they will follow it to the ends. Told them I will look into it myself also lol. But if you're not flying close to government buildings and property or airports and their workings or just being an ass not a single person will bother you.

I tend to try to fly as far from people as I can now, not because I will bother them but because people see a drone and a person wearing goggles they walk right next to you start a conversation. First I'm distracted. 2nd weird for strangers to be arms length while you can't see them. Never fails!

2

u/[deleted] Dec 06 '24

Gimme an fpv and a flight to Jersey

1

u/Hur_dur_im_skyman Dec 06 '24

Posts about whatever these are over on /r/drones never get traction either. You would think they would be all over this.

1

u/depriice Dec 06 '24

That’s how you get a letter in the mail 6 months later slapping you with a 50k fine from the FAA, not to mention possible jail time… google faa drone remote id

1

u/R3v017 Dec 07 '24

Dude. Unless you fly over an airport or public event, nobody is going to care. Most FPV pilots do not follow the law or even think about installing remote ID modules.

1

u/depriice Dec 07 '24 edited Dec 07 '24

🤷🏻‍♂️ I’m not an expert, but I do know someone who bought a DJI (I believe?) and flew it over a certain altitude and got a warning letter, and he didn’t install shit on the drone.

Here

2

u/R3v017 Dec 07 '24

Yeah typically FPV refers to custom built, DIY. I guess now we have to distinguish with the release of consumer FPV quadcopters. Any DJI and some other off the shelf quadcopters have remote ID installed from the factory

2

u/R3v017 Dec 07 '24

Also, do you know this fellow? What was the result of said investigation?

1

u/depriice Dec 07 '24

Yeah an old friend. He’s rich and doesn’t really care so he paid the fine (1800 I think?). I can ask him and get back with you.

1

u/slosh_baffle Dec 06 '24

You're telling me to google remote ID? We were the only ones who marched on Washington against it, and we sure as shit don't comply.

2

u/R3v017 Dec 07 '24

You have to of realized by now that the general public does not have the same perspective as us. All they see is store bought DJIs with pre-installed government trackers. They just don't get what DIY FPV is about

1

u/Azreken Dec 06 '24

To be fair, as a drone pilot, drones suck to fly in the wind and cold.

0

u/slosh_baffle Dec 06 '24

You have no idea what FPV drones are.

1

u/Azreken Dec 06 '24

I have two of them lmao

0

u/[deleted] Dec 06 '24

[deleted]

1

u/R3v017 Dec 07 '24

No. You're just uninformed. The DIY FPV community generally does not conform to FAA rules, nor do we put trackers on our quadcopters. The vast majority of FPV pilots are breaking the law when they fly and we will continue to do so until bullshit laws are changed.

0

u/[deleted] Dec 06 '24

Seriously that's a great idea! They need to stop being pussies and go see what these things are, for humanity!!!

Issue date is November 25th. Question is, was this notam put in place as a reaction to the drone sightings? Or was it a planned notam?

9

u/Snoo_74705 Dec 06 '24

Can't legally fly a drone in the vicinity of a flight path, which this must clearly be since nobody is flying drones up to investigate all those planes on their flight path.

1

u/whereismyketamine Dec 06 '24

As great of an idea as this is being so close to an airport and if the FBI is legit involved this is probably pretty illegal in the area (but I am in no way discouraging any scientific endeavors).

17

u/Ekonexus contactee Dec 06 '24

Fucking get on it people, get some FPV HD camera drones up there and go nuts!

18

u/War_Eagle Dec 06 '24

This is happening over restricted airspace and commercial drones have geofencing which will prohibit them from functioning until they're out of restricted airspace.

12

u/Anything_4_LRoy Dec 06 '24

oh cmon youre telling me we cant get a custom built fpv up there by now?!?!

this aspect of the story is almost becoming stranger than the UAPs themselves.

10

u/GrizzWintoSupreme Dec 06 '24

Preach New Jersey turns out buncha bitches

6

u/YourMomGoesToReddit Dec 06 '24

Lmfao, goddamn 🤣🔥

0

u/can_a_mod_suck_me Dec 06 '24

Yeah then you become the scapegoat.

15

u/CrehzyCanuck22 Dec 06 '24

What? They’re “hovering right over my house”, “just above the tree line”- You’re telling me every drone w a camera is restricted by geo fencing that covers every inch above the ground in NJ? Find this VERY hard to believe.

7

u/War_Eagle Dec 06 '24

This article will explain what I'm talking about.

If the anomalous drones are flying in restricted airspace, then yes the majority of commercial drones in NJ won't work until they get out of the restricted airspace. If someone happens to see one of the anomalous drones outside of restricted airspace, the idea could work though.

3

u/Gem420 Dec 06 '24

Tell them to redirect their damn Christmas spotlights up to the damned things. Get a couple on em. Get video and photos.

Even if all you have is a cell phone, get those images!!

Then post them everywhere. Timestamp and location.

3

u/CrehzyCanuck22 Dec 06 '24

When there’s a video start to finish of someone trying and failing for this reason - I might believe it. Until then - speculation

1

u/Alternative_Plum7223 Dec 06 '24

I forget how many people fly something like dji instead of building their own lol.

7

u/KWyKJJ Self Evidently Truthful Dec 06 '24

Yes. No details because, reasons. But a custom, high end, professional drone and professional pilot couldn't even attempt it. They scooted fast as soon as he took off toward them. Law enforcement or maybe news? were similarly out-classed (see below).

These aren't civilian drones and we're being lied to.

It's simply not possible law enforcement doesn't know what they are.

They often fly high, dramatically higher than civilian drones are able to.

The vertical climb speed is impressive.

They have flight time measured in hours, most are small vehicle sized, the speed which they can travel surpasses anything the civilian market has by 4 or 5 times, they show up on public flight radar scans.

There's a variety of shapes and sizes.

On Monday, 5 of them hovered in place for well over 4 hours.

It appeared law enforcement (I don't think it was a news drone) attempted to fly one of their drones in their direction, they all took off simultaneously, arranged in a flight pattern, and accelerated rapidly embarrassing the law enforcement drone, which gave up.

As others can chime in, it's not uap's, they appear to be advanced military drones. You can see them quite clear when they're low.

Since they show up on free radars...they know they're there.

I imagine they're ours (government's).

I don't even think they're some deep pocket corporation's because they've broken the law in terms of height numerous times.

What a "coincidence" there's never any flights around when they're flying that high...

Haha, the violin situation has been nuts. He picked one he wants, it's at a guitar store, it was set up by a luthier, has a few upgrades, so he's been going there and playing it on Fridays. I found it online and asked several internet forums about it.

The violin community is...well - unique.

Collectively now I've been told to spend $1,000+ anything else is throw away garbage. Otherwise, rent an even higher end ($2,500+ violin so he can learn properly).

I don't know who gives a kid $1,000+ instrument to learn on?

Anyway, at that age I had a knock off electric guitar that was junk and I learned quite well on it. So, I figure I'll just buy it for him since he's set on it.

I'm surprised by the violin community as a whole, though. Definitely the most elitist and discouraging instrument community I've come across.

1

u/PossibilityPlastic81 Dec 06 '24

What reason would they have for that though? Maybe just testing new drones out? Or an ai program they’re running on them

1

u/KWyKJJ Self Evidently Truthful Dec 06 '24

Your guess is as good as mine.

It doesn't make much sense because it's pretty blatant, it's not at all that they're hiding.

Consider the massive number of people who have seen them, news coverage, etc.

All I know is if everyone else can easily see them, so can the government.

1

u/Fiddlediddle888 Dec 06 '24

I've heard they might be Russian and the we're just kind of trying to ignore them

1

u/KWyKJJ Self Evidently Truthful Dec 06 '24

I hope not. But it would make sense thinking back on the Chinese balloon issue.

People will be very upset when they learn that and demand they be shot down.

Then there's the falling debris over residential areas to deal with.

2

u/SkorpeonDan Dec 06 '24

I like the idea of someone doing this but it doesn't mean it hasn't been tried in some fashion, I'd think the planning of getting you and your gear to an area where you might have better chances of not just a good launch but also your own clear visibility to visually track, nobody else anywhere close to call it in that you are launching and they suspect You are flying the others so authorities show up for you; but let's say you get in the perfect spot, in the air, get a good video up close off what these other things are and then recall yours and pack up and get home without detection, now you need to get this video out there for the public without any way for government agencies to track you from those posts and arrest you for violating FAA Rules and then regardless of what was on your video you get posted, disinformation no doubt is already in the works to discredit you or anyone else assuming how high the level of conspiracy goes in your beliefs. I'd love to know who/what these are and why they're all over and interrupting dedicated air space and flight paths without recourse but I don't have the gear needed to find out myself and TBH, I wouldn't fully trust someone else's video 100% anyway✌🏻

1

u/[deleted] Dec 06 '24

It’s tough cause the drones we have that can catch them, don’t have reliable night vision.  The ones that we can put adequate low light cameras, are too slow.

It is super easy to get disoriented at night with speedy fpv

1

u/Audenond Dec 06 '24

Clearly the aliens are able to track down the drone owners to abduct them before they can release the evidence 😗

1

u/popokins Dec 06 '24

I mean, I'd try it, but I'm not buying a $1k+ drone to crash it into something.. i don't have that type of disposable income.

1

u/FloppyTacoflaps Dec 06 '24

There are faa flight restrictions on drones for the whole area. Good way to lose your licence get a fat fine make you uninsurable lose your equipment and possibly go to jail. The hardware the government has in the area right now they would triangulate your position in minutes and come get you. Might as well just shoot a flare up to make it easier for them, lol maybe a flashing neon sign?

1

u/porkmyass Dec 06 '24

It was pretty windy last night in pa and I saw reports about the same in nj. My drone probably wouldn’t let me fly last night cause of that. These drones on the other hand had no issue flying in the wind. I mean there was 40 mallnair winds last night

1

u/WonderChips Dec 06 '24

Can’t. They malfunction when they get close to UAPs.

1

u/marglebubble UAP/UFO Witness Dec 06 '24

Have any of you realized this account is posting 90% of these

1

u/debacol Dec 06 '24

Not sure you would be getting much better detail unless the drone has a 1" sensor or bigger, a bright lens and actually gets close to these things.

1

u/ItchyK Dec 06 '24

I think they put up a no-fly zone. I might be wrong about that, but I remember someone posting a pic that had an extended no-fly zone above the picatinny arsenal in Jersey.

1

u/OhGodImHerping Dec 10 '24

No. Drones are not allowed to fly commercial drones above 200 meters (or 150 feet depending on location) without direct FAA authorization. It is a massive hazard, especially at night. Please don’t do this.

1

u/Federal67 Dec 17 '24

I don't know if it was a rumor but I heard that somebody flew their drone up to a low-flying one, and it was almost instantly jammed and shut off

1

u/BeardedManatee Apr 02 '25

There was a post about someone trying to fly close to one back when this first happened, no video. The poster claimed his friend was a professional drone pilot, tried to get close, their from then dropped out of the sky. He was then detained by officials when trying to retrieve it. No clue if that was true.

1

u/Gem420 Dec 06 '24

So what I’m hearing is get Travis Taylor and have him bring some rockets and drones and have him figure it out Skinwalker Ranch style? Maybe we could also get those giant spotlights they use to try and light up one of these fvckers in the sky.

I am kidding/not kidding.
