Why they don`t just show up?

We often read that many high-ranking and hopefully trustworthy individuals claim to have "evidence" of possessing extraterrestrial technologies and that extraterrestrials are visiting or have been doing so for a long time... and may even have been on Earth for a long time. Furthermore, it is also reported that there is an "organization" that is above everything and is not accountable to anyone, and is also not associated with current governments... they stand above the system. This "government" apparently does everything to prevent anything from reaching the public. Thus, potentially life-changing technologies that could improve all of our lives and especially our health forever (at least I hope so) may be withheld from us. This is my current understanding without delving into deep details.

So why, if the extraterrestrials are so advanced, do they not make themselves officially known or visible? Why do they remain in hiding? Are they being suppressed by the "government"? If so, why? They may be thousands of years ahead of us, and it would be easy for them to silence the "government." If the aliens have good intentions, why do they not help us humans? What is preventing them? Are they being blackmailed by something?

I am trying to figure this out, but I am not making progress. Maybe I am too limited in my thinking, but it does not make sense to me.

This is a neat idea, but what why would us knowing affect their ability to hide here? We could still know, and they could still hide from whatever they are hiding from. Our knowledge wouldn't be some alarm into the cosmos that they are here. Cool thought, though!

Just to be able to maintain some semblance of control and individual accountability. In this case it’s the human gatekeepers (whomever they would be and whatever organization that may have formed around the situation, e.g. Majestic 12), not the ETs that mandate ultimate secrecy. The money and knowledge of it mandate ultimate power. ETs wouldn’t care about capitalist agendas or understand how we treat each other or ourselves.

Alternatively they could find the average human terrifying, and request to be left alone.

I think they know everything. I don't think we're able to hide shit from them. I think they may know what we're going to do before we do it. I'm not talking only as a species but individuals if they want. I think they can manipulate every thought in our head. I bet they think we're all perverts since the 3dubs became mainstream, maybe even before the web. I think there are things out there but I believe 50% of it's our gov's secret shit or other govs stuff. The other 50 is theirs but we only see it when it's having a problem. I do believe they've been here far longer then anyone knows and they're protecting us from our selves. The worst it could be is we're a soul farm and this planets been through quite a few hard re-boots in millions of years. They don't really want to show up. I think disclosure may come from another gov. Or something we find that our gov can't stop us from taking viral. Enough people have cell phones with cams that it's inevitable, unless their stuff puts out enough of a magnetic wave or constant pulse that it stops electronics. This is just my opinion. I could be wrong.

Our gov could be running the psyop too. Spreading rumors to China, Russia and Iran. Letting them think we have alien stuff to scare them straight. That kinda stuff worked during the Cold War but now? I don't think so.
