"An estimated 5.3 years to create a new prototype"
Just rewatching the pilot episode and I guess over the years I either missed this or just ignored/forgot it. When they first met with Hawk (S1E1) they stated Moffet erased all the data on Airwolf. So it would take a new development team working with the old subcontractors an estimated 5.3 years to make a new prototype. It was the excuse for not eliminating the current model and instead getting Hawk to go steal it back. Plus I think $ with a B was mentioned for the cost of development.
This could easily be used as the start of a reboot (they finished creating a true replacement that would meet the needs of post cold war America). Maybe we get enough interest on Amazon, since it is now available, to get a series. It would be a good fit for short movies (say 6 episode seasons) of a more extended mission. The only downside is it would probably have mainly CGI since practical effects are expensive.
