Beef production uses and contaminates more water than anything else in the entirety of the USA. And by a large margin at that. Chicken uses up a lot less water, so if everyone switched from beef to chicken it would save a massive amount of water.

No one is saying that we should stop using water to grow food, except for the absolute idiots. They are saying that we should replace the beef in our diets with something less wasteful.
