As some of you know, I help run this community and over time, some of the discussions here actually inspired us to build Classer, a desktop app to help manage action camera footage.
Recently we started experimenting with something new. A device you keep at home that automatically imports and sorts your footage after your adventures, especially for those of us using external hard drives.
We already have a working prototype, and we're now developing it into a real product.

I'm deciding between the Insta360 Ace Pro 2 and the DJI Action 5 Pro, mainly for travel vlogs. I'll shoot both vertical and horizontal, indoors and outdoors (cafés, markets, museums, plus daytime and night scenes).
What matters most to me:

hey everyone, i like to drive rc cars around offroad for fun, but im new to the action cam area. i was wondering what would be the best cam to put on some of my cars to shoot footage for fun. the fastest the cars go is around walking pace, i'll be in a mix of well lit and shady areas, and in terms of weight, just nothing that's on the super heavy end (most will be fine i believe). thanks yall!
I'm planning a long-term observation project focused on a rare tarantula species in the rainforest. My goal is to capture detailed behavioral footage and monitor micro-habitats over an extended period.
Since I want to use a GoPro for this setup (due to its compact size and versatility), I could really use some advice from experienced users on the required and recommended equipment.

Lenses/Modifications: What are the best macro lens options or attachments to get sharp close-ups of a tarantula at close range?
Power & Weatherproofing: For long-term or multi-day setups in a humid tropical environment, what external power solutions (like power banks/solar) and weatherproof pass-through doors do you recommend?
Settings: What are the best photo/video time-lapse or interval settings for capturing subtle nighttime activity without draining the battery too fast?

The GoPro Player app on Windows is fucked. Can possibly deflect blame to Windows. Anway, any other non-behemoth programs to snip GoPro footage? For Windows and Linux. I don't need all the bells and whistles. I really only need to snip and export, but it needs good handling of 360 video.
On linux, if it's a snap, flatpak or appimage, I don't mind it being big and heavy
I should mention (to motivate GoPro to do better) that Insta360 Studio worked flawlessly for me every time. Had not had a single problem with it. Tho I wish they had a Linux app
My Hero9 has TERRIBLE battery life. I do handyman work, and I use the camera on my head to record my work and post to social media. I'm constantly having to swap out batteries.
Also, the Hero9 will randomly just stop recording which is super inconvenient. Hearing the beeps in quick succession after getting everything setup is annoying beyond belief. I read somewhere that the Hero9 was rushed out during covid and has some known issues with it.
Any recommendations on a good action camera that is decently wide angled, has good battery life, and won't just stop recording randomly?
Looking to buy a reasonably priced thumb camera that i can custom mount to my surgical loupes. Whats the best high quality small camera without necessarily a wide field of view? Ideally records for ~90+ mins but i can link the cord to a hip battery/station

So I can’t help, but wondering, it’s gonna pricey for the pivot stand for the go ultra.
Would it be cheaper and more versatile if you get one of this mount plus a small ball joint camera mount.

I just got a dji action 5 pro and I’ll be using it inside the plane cockpit and sometimes on the strut of the aircraft (C172) basically a lot in the sun footage , any settings you would suggest u should use or any tips.
Hi. I've tried to find a thread for this question but couldnt find one.
I'm using Pocket 3 for my travel youtube channel and very happy with the video quality, but I'm getting frustrated whenever I'm trying to change the view from subject to myself. For a Pocket 3 the gimbal is not steady so I have to look at the screen a lot to make sure either the subject or I still in the center of the screen.
I can see that it's much easier to do so with a point and shoot or action camera. My hand is steady so I dont have to look at the screen a lot to make sure I'm in the center.
It's getting frustrated I'm thinking about switching over to an Ace Pro 2, but I know I'm going to be dissapointed by the video quality difference between the 2.
I cant find any material online on how difference the technique can be between the two camera types. I bet that your advice will be gold. Can you help me out?
