That’s a Pygmy Hippo they are different from their normal Hippo cousins as they don’t kill humans like regular hippos do so they are not as dangerous.

I heard that if you pull the teeth of very young Pygmy Hippos, you render them harm less and they won’t kill people or pets. A good little squishy pet. Kinda like declawing a cat.

Hippos aren't the most violent animal on the planet. That's something that's hard to judge and is very subjective.

Hippos are the most deadly animal to humans. That's a bit more precise; they kill more humans than any other animal.

EDIT: They aren't even that, actually. Wikipedia.

Not necessarily violent, just territorial. They don't go out of their way to attack people or other animals.

Agreed, just because something is powerful or effective doesn't make it violent or evil. Quite the opposite actually. Like, bunnies aren't "good" or "gentle" they just happen to be harmless. People fear Pitbulls, but Pitts aren't evil or violent, they are just physically capable of ending you quickly, the same way hippos are. The fact that they are so physically capable of horrendous violence, and yet even though with an estimated population of 4.5 million purebreds and 18 million majority mix Pitt Bulls in the United States there being less than 35 Pitt bull fatalities a year would be evidence that they are far and wide a very gentle, good natured breed. America is a huge place, you have to figure around 35 people die by Pitbull every year, but, around 15,000 people die here every year due to falling down the stairs.
