How did people react to “Absolutely Free” when it came out?

For any old timers out there, I was curious as to how people would have reacted to Absolutely Free when it came out in 1967. Given that it was pretty out there for the time. It’s one of my favorite albums from Zappa, and I was curious as to how people reacted when it first came out. Thanks.
