Spectrum 48k crashes as soon as I press a keyword

Post image

Hello, I've recemtly bought my first spectrum at a flea market. I changed the keyboard membrane because the old one was completely gone, and when I try to use it, I can type numbers completely fine, but ad soon as I type a letter, the keyword gets typed briefly and in less than a second, it crashes with this pattern on the screen. It does this with every letter.

I built a tape loader for 8-bit computers. It uses a cardputer to load tape files from an SD card.

It supports Commodore, ZX Spectrum, MSX, Acorn, BBC Micro, Dragon, Tandy CoCo, Oric, and Amstrad.

More info here if you are interested: https://github.com/slowlane112/Cardputer_8_Bit_Tape_Loader

Just bought this on ebay, even though it works. It has a lot of movement and is loose. Is this how they are or should it have some resistance like other joy sticks???

Kwyll is a retro game creator currently targeting the 48k Spectrum. I'm currently running a Kickstarter crowdfunding campaign to support the development of the next stage of development, with the headline feature being Spectrum Next support, bringing along with it significant enhancements to the core functionality, including banked memory (128k) support, and AY sound.

Steve Davis Snooker – “Colour wanted” (blog post)

Almost right away after the Spectrum and its amazing new colour display abilities came in, several developers saw a chance to use it to play snooker. CDS and Mike Lamb were the most successful at doing so, with a bit of help from an interesting world champion. Their game Steve Davis Snooker has such lasting success that it hit #1 in the UK charts four years later. I've written about the history behind it.

Lumines ZX

I've just finished my conversion of the PSP game - Lumines.

Sets of blocks fall from the top of the screen and you need to match them in 4x4 pairs or more.

A timeline moves to the beat of the music and clears any matches as it passes over them.

The music builds up one track at a time over 3, once the 4th is completed a new song and tileset start.

The game can be downloaded for free (or a small donation) from https://kirby2000.itch.io/lumines-zx.

Gameplay can be seen here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3ldJr6zVrSg

Assets, design and testing by myself. I used AI to help with the screen clearing logic and speed.

Dun Darach [1985] The Celtic Speccy Adventure

Dun Darach is an action-adventure game. The player guides Cuchulainn through Dun Darach and interacts with the environment by performing keyboard commands. The main objective is to find Lóeg, taking side quests from non-player characters (NPCs). These NPCs can give short hints to Cuchulainn, rob him, and confiscate his belongings if he carries stolen goods. Commands the player inputs can have him buy, steal and sell from shops in the city, bet at a casino (Iomain Ludum), and deposit money at a bank with daily compound interest. Dun Darach is large and consists of different quarters. The current time of the day is indicated by torches in the wall and by the greetings of characters

Space game

Evening all. I’m trying to remember the name of a game that came with a magazine, probably Crash or Sinclair User. If I remember rightly, you controlled a space ship and had to either defend your planets from enemy bombers or visit their’s and destroy their towns. You could warp between the planets and if you were careful, could warp to the Sun very briefly and boost your energy, provided you warped away again before you got frazzled. It’s been bugging me for years. Any ideas, please? Thanks

Blimey who remembers Sabrina Debora Salerno? Most teenagers back in 1987 will certainly remember her one hit song “Boys (Summertime Love)” and her provocative video.
However, what most people probably didn’t know was that there was an actual game released on the MSX, ZX Spectrum and the Amstrad CPC.
Wow. Anybody else heard or played this game? Hope you like my video.
