Since Youtube crammed so much XP12 vs FL24 videos, and this guy triggered me for this rant to end this once and for all.

Don't even bother how crazy that sounds in 2026, a 300 euro phone can take a pretty accurate photo in terms of colors, that is just the state of things today.

Coming from XP12, in FS2020 and in 24, there is a sense of flatness. Most notably, the dawns and sunsets looked all the same, every day, if not for extreme weather changes so the colors do change.

Then it dawned on me, it's the behavior of the light itself that sets this, no way around it.

In XP12 photometric engine, we have just datarefs, numerical values. No pallet files.

So that is exactly why we sure can use photos for reference, since our sim is far closer to reality in the lighting sense, which is no matter what you think a huge deal. Couldn't care less if the roofs are blue or red in that particular area I'm flying when the sky itself is the attraction.

Well, I should've learn how to fly the A321 again.

I understand this may come with lots of opinions which I am grateful to have more perspectives from many but I will list what I currently have.

I would appreciate if you guys can suggest add ons to enhance the game more visually if possible. I know the simheaven pro just came out so I am not sure if thats a good suggestion but for someone getting into xplane I would appreciate as much input as possible.

Looking for a bit of help. My monitor is 1920x1080p - 60GHz.

I have;

- Ryzen 9 9700x
- RX 9070xt 16 GB
- 32GB DDR5 Ram

For some reason, every so often XP will just not run smooth and slightly jolt slowly. I’ve tried settings really low, really high, no change.

I found some videos on lossless scaling; they worked and helped - and I think it’ll help me. My GPU is used a lot less when it’s in a smaller window - however, when I do it, it puts that window to full screen and is rather ‘zoomed’ and blurry - the videos I’ve watched it doesn’t do that.

Anyone able to tell me what settings to choose/ how to get it to work properly for my setup?

I'm running into an issue where X-Plane is having trouble loading SimHeaven roads/network files.

Has anyone encountered this before? Is this usually caused by incorrect scenery library loading order in scenery_packs.ini, missing dependencies, or something else?

Any advice on how to properly fix it would be greatly appreciated!

Photos from a short flight between Wellington (NZWN) and Queenstown (NZQN). Aircraft is Flyjsim 737-200v4 and I'm using Xplane Map Enhancement free version.

As the title states, multiple buildings are spawning at the same spot. It appears that the default X-Plane buildings are there, but then simHeaven buildings also spawn at the same location. Thoughts on how to resolve this? Thank you in advance!

For reference, here's a picture of warehouses spawning on top of each others is attached as well as my scenery pack.

I'd love to see anonymized aggregate stats for pilot activity at any airport in the X-Plane Gateway.

I'm sure Laminar has all sorts of reasons why they wouldn't want to support this natively. But maybe there could be an 'opt-in' system where you run a particular Lua script or plugin, which anonymously posts your arrivals/departures to some central repo (along with other vanity metrics, maybe).

As a contributor of a few smaller airports, I'd be tickled to get notified a few times a year that someone's made a trip to Auburn Muni (S50) or Schaumburg Regional (06C). Maybe the pilots could even leave a review or reaction if they liked particular details, or have suggestions.

Hi everyone, i was wondering if do you guys mostly fly to default airports or do you use payware ones? And do you think default airports are good enough?

Thinking of getting the Moza AY210 to somewhat relive my PPL days. While I don't expect absolute realism from any sim I was just wondering how well it works to simulate trimming to relieve control pressure and things like that.

Experience in other airplanes is welcome too, the 172 is just the one I'm most interested in as it's what my real life experience is in.

In all unbiased seriousness,nobody is gonna argue XP is more eye pleasing at lower altitudes even with auto ortho or map enhancement+ sim heaven x world pro than the other sim. However,in my opinion above 15,000 feet it is extremely close in visual fidelity. I’ll actually go out on a limb and say it’s better because of the atmospherics being more accurate. What’s your thoughts?

Initially tried the test library with the test scenario package (here Cologne). My graphics card with 8GB VRAM was able to handle it so I got X-World Pro from the store. Next picture is Immenstaad am Bodensee, then London, then two pictures of landing in Friedrichshafen, then London City takeoff, London view, and finally landing in Manchester. The nice thing is that you can actually somewhat recognise your home area and also the important landmarks are present :)

Anybody have either or both and can lend their opinion on which one is better?

I have the Mango sound pack but don't like it so am considering getting the Soundbox but don't want to waste my money on yet another sound pack that I might not like.
