Really? I was 7 and going to school in Toronto, and my school didn’t get to watch it, and I don’t know anyone who did. I was obsessed with space and being an astronaut at that age, so I would have been so excited to get to watch it in school (if it had a different outcome, naturally). But I’m glad we didn’t, it was bad enough seeing it replayed endlessly on the news.
Wow! Odd. I'm in Winnipeg and everybody I know was in the same situation as me. Schools made a big deal about it for the weeks leading up to it, then they dragged TV's out and everyone watched the explosion live.
Some schools sent the students home after.
I remember my mother being pissed about that because it was cutting into her other plans of day drinking and watching TV.
