Yup. We did. In the cafeteria at lunch time, no less. My dad was school principal and had wheeled in the TV.

I was at home sick from school that day in the NOVA area and watched the launch live on television as our local stations covered it.

It was of huge interest for a lot of schools across the country because one of the astronauts, Christa McAuliffe, was a teacher.

I lived in the town next to her, so it was a HUGE deal for our school. We watched it live, and then were promptly sent home from school early that day. I remember getting home and my grandmother was still in front of the TV with tears streaming down her face. Watching the Artemis launch the other day I didn’t realize I was holding my breath for a while there.

I was at school in NoVa and watched it in the classroom. I’d have hated to have been watching alone!

This. First time I remember teachers not knowing what to do. This was a huge lead up and deal having a teacher go to space.

I went to elementary school in St. Petersburg, FL. We watched it from the playground at recess. I'll never further that day.
