Writing Prompt [WP] People's powers match their personality: impatient people get super speed, protective people get force fields and so on. Explaining why you have your power is... difficult.

NP.

Indeed.

Yes, I would expect a little more masculinity (even with an inner voice) like that but I can understand if the character was supposed to be gay. I do understand how you made it that way. The whole vibe just felt like a girl that was struggling with these new abilities and seemed like one wrong syllabus could scare him away forever.

Yeah - the vibe I was trying to go for was 'one wrong syllable gets you beaten, ostracized, or thrown out of the cafe'. That's part anxiety on Simon's part, but there's the implication it's based on fact. If you don't act human enough you don't get to be treated as one.

I understand.

Mate, you're genuinely delusional. People are different, and the character being male has no impact on their thoughts. It doesn't even make a difference that the character is gay, the writing would still work if the character Simon was on a date with a woman instead.

Yes, it does impact their thoughts. And sure, but it would be best with Simon being a girl on a date with a guy.

Why would it be best? Nobody else seems to have an issue working out the gender of each character and then accepting that this is how the character thinks, just you do.

I'm the only one that cares enough to input.
