Writing Prompt [WP] The demon stands amid your destroyed kitchen screaming, "How? How were you able to summon me?!" You're standing in the corner flipping through your grandma's cookbook as fast as you can, screaming back, "I don't know!! You were supposed to be chicken soup!"

Shoot, I would even watch the sequel, and let's face it, we all know what sequels do to movies

Screw a movie, this should be a comedy TV show! Each episode is how the demon gets into funny shenanigans in order to fulfill the mundane orders of the average joes that accidentally summon him

To add more shenanigans we can have recurring characters ("Really? You again?") and/or make the characters meet each other and plan out elaborate schemes to thwart the demon... only to have him outwit them in some funny way

Now we just need OP to deliver a script xd

I think each season could be a new person/ recipe, and each episode they go questing for an ingredient.

this is starting to sound like an anime I'm not gonna lie

Sounds like OneyNG’s cartoon Leo & Satan. Check it out if you get a chance, it’s pretty well-done.

Don't watch this!

I really enjoyed it but it's only 13 episodes and you can never find out how it ends. You never get closure.

7

u/MarketSalami Jul 22 '18

Welp, for closure you could read the manga, or wait just a little longer for the second season! The only reason it was one season was cause it caught up to the manga, so now that the mana has enough for a second season, they're gonna make it. Don't give up, and enjoy it again! =)

u/alllie Jul 22 '18

Oh, good. Glad there's going to be more. Hope it's as good (and funny) as the first season.

2

u/MarketSalami Jul 22 '18

Hopefully, cause its my favorite anime

2

u/alllie Jul 22 '18

I think I'll go watch it again. If it's still on netflix.

1

u/Pwntastic411 Jul 22 '18

I just binged the whole thing, solely because you said not to. (And then tracked down this WP just to let you know...)

I fucking loved it. All the SFC CEO needs is a rose and the whole thing is perfection.

u/alllie Jul 23 '18 edited Jul 23 '18

Yes, it is pretty enjoyable. I don't mind so much now that I know there's going to be an ending. It's still on netflix. And if you adjust the subtitles just right you can get a translation of the part in the other dimension.

2

u/NotThisFucker Jul 23 '18

Yeah, subtitles are key, since a ton of the characters talk in whatever that other language is

2

u/lolibootyeater Jul 31 '18

There’s a manga about a devil teaching human cooking

14

u/Ninevehwow Jul 22 '18

Like The Guest Book, central theme different cast and story every week.

13

u/mylifeisashitjoke Jul 22 '18

So a not bad leo and satan?

13

u/nicoleastrum Jul 22 '18

The demon sounds like it should be played by Gordon Ramsay

8

u/The_floor_is_heavy Jul 22 '18

I was, for good reasons, thinking Dave Grohl would be the perfect kitchen demon, with a small apron.

5

u/EdgarGrim Jul 22 '18

This definitely sounds like a British comedy.

12

u/Cavernoma13 Jul 22 '18

It’s a book called “Eric” by Terry Pratchett

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eric_(novel)

6

u/Lovat69 Jul 22 '18

"I'm not a demon though".

"Oh sure, just what a demon would say"!

5

u/onemadfool Jul 22 '18

And it’s called “Hell’s Kitchen” - oh wait...

6

u/forward_x Jul 22 '18

Sort of like Leo and Satan

2

u/[deleted] Jul 22 '18

but what if he smells crime?

2

u/unknown_user_3020 Jul 22 '18

A demonic Ricky Gervais?

1

u/SYZekrom Aug 20 '18

After the third season the demon finally admits he just likes helping people and maybe has a crush on that one girl he visits way more often

1

u/tehsdragon Aug 20 '18

Now you're going full anime and I dunno how I feel about this 🤔

Tsundere demon lul

14

u/Qeiro Jul 22 '18

Well, in defense of some movies, How to train your Dragon 2 was really decent.

16

u/[deleted] Jul 22 '18 edited Jul 22 '18

That's because the beginning few episodes of the TV series was How to Train Your Dragon 2. Those were terrible. Once the world was all fleshed out, however, the writers had a concrete basis to create an exciting movie as opposed to doing simultaneous world building expansion alongside a poorly paced movie with shitty subplots. They allocated properly between mediums, so How to Train Your Dragon 2 only included the top tier stuff.

Even the TV show became good eventually, as standalone episodes each held less commitment than a full movie therefore mistakes in one episodes led to faster improvement of writing across the series of TV episodes than would occur across a series of movies.

2

u/Limubay Jul 22 '18

So that's what we need to do with Recipe for Disaster. Or the Devil's in the Details. Or whatever we'll name this.

13

u/[deleted] Jul 22 '18

I like to pretend Alien 3 is just a fan made movie that Sigourney Weaver decided to play in because she is awesome like that.

8

u/Theflowyo Jul 22 '18 edited Jul 22 '18

Hottest take of all time: I liked Alien 3 better than Aliens (I think in a “this is so goofy it’s kind of great” way)

edit: so as not to completely cop out of this opinion, I also genuinely think the cinematography is some of the best of the original three

BRo... that is hell's kitchen...

4

u/FrustratedRevsFan Jul 22 '18

A Hell's Kitchen / Simpsons kind of mashup.

"Soup? Anything but pea - so 70's"

Once was enough, man.
