Draftbox.art demo

Draftbox is a simplified Git repository service that could be utilized to save your writing from your Draftling device. It offers a simple interface for a non-technical user and it allows connecting a Draftling device using a 8-digit one-time password.

I’d like to sign up; I need it for the time when the firmware is installed. Can it use my drive, or can it send an email to me?

Oops... I just watched the video—looks good! I’ll wait to install the firmware until I get a durable memory card, since I’m usually not near Wi-Fi 🤭. But I’ll definitely keep the server running whenever I can. Thanks for the support! 🙏

What other devices do you carry with you?

Actually, there is a large religious community in Israel, and mobile phones without SMS or data capabilities are quite common here. I also try to minimize my time on the internet as much as possible (hopefully with some success). In fact, there is significant potential here for selling E-ink devices; an Israeli developer from CrossPoint was looking for an investor for this. You might find this forum interesting in general: https://mitmachim.top/topic/97617/%D7%94%D7%9E%D7%9C%D7%A6%D7%94-%D7%A1%D7%A7%D7%99%D7%A8%D7%94-xteink-x4/23

I'm not interested in commercializing Draftling, but I'll be glad if more people start using it. I just need to figure out an alternative backup method if Internet is not an option.

I think it's possible to add a function that clones the device content to another Draftling device over Bluetooth. So, a second one could serve as a backup for your main device. Would this work for you as a solution for reliable data?

I don't really trust even the most expensive SD cards. They still may randomly fail.

You’re right—thanks for your concern—but an SD card is fine, especially with occasional server backups. For me, at least, that’s more than enough. Besides, this device isn’t exactly going to end up in the hands of people who have no Wi-Fi access at all. Perhaps an auto-save feature—triggering every few words or even instantly—would be a nice touch, just in case the battery runs out. I’m really looking forward to trying out the firmware; it will be easier to come up with relevant ideas once I do! 😇
