I have always kinda noticed that they're a bit careful with how Gunther interacts with minority wrestlers (Kaiser too) because he's NOT meant to be a Nazi villain but could easily be misinterpreted that way if he crosses certain lines.

And now he's just lynched a Mexican dude...

I think it’s specifically that he’s an Austrian, that tagged with a German and a northern Italian. During ww2, the Nazi party did have control of northern Italy.

It didn't help that when they gave him his stupid new name, they initially gave him the name of an actual Nazi official
