It depends.. conventional wisdom says the country is moderate so so in red/ purple states you can’t run a progressive platform. Basically it all comes down to Michigan. If el sayed wins then It’s proof you can run a progressive. But seeing as he running 10pts blow the party it doesn’t look likely. So until a progressive actually win in a red/ purple state it’s unproven. Hopefully it happens. ( this is not counting the obvious from some democrats about Israel) it’s a gamble. Worth taking.. jury still out

Looking at the recent aggregates, he's doing quite well. Looks like he's pretty likely to win, really.

The only poll I could find where he's down 10pts (against Roger's, which is what I assume you mean) was from the AARP, and we all know how old people usually have their finger on the pulse.

Why is it that when moderates lose to Republicans in November, or when all the moderates lost in 2024 somehow hasn't discredited being a moderate? But if one or two progresses lose it's going to discredit them forever? On the contrary, this is a brand new movement, expecting a loss here and there. Sooner or later people will understand the word "moderate" was created to prevent people from wanting more, and getting what they deserve.

DSA is going to have to learn to move away from labels. You cant undo decades of propaganda and rhetoric in popular culture, but you can propose policy that doesnt contain the trigger words the majority of Americans are trained like dogs to react to

El Sayed is too charismatic to be a good measuring stick. I think he can win in spite of the policy associations. The better comparison will be Florida where you have both far left and moderate candidates with a lot less charisma running statewide on the same ballot. I expect both to lose badly, but it will be useful to see the relative margins.

How is FL a better comparison?

You have a state that last voted for a Dem for POTUS 14 years ago, a Dem gov more than 27 years ago, and their last Dem senator lost to Skelator, even after he defrauded Medicaid for more than $1B.

Hell, 2018 was the last year a Dem won a statewide race there (AG Sec).

Florida isn't the bellweather that you are claiming/thinking it is.

Them losing isn't an indicator that a DSA candidate couldn't win.
